Now that Ultra Music Festival has confirmed its return back to Bayfront after its 2019 outing to Virginia Key Beach Park, the festival has started to drop 2020 festival news, heightening the excitement for the festival’s return. In September, Ultra unveiled its 2020 promotional theme, “We Return Home,” and now organizers have announced that for the first time, NGHTMRE and SLANDER‘s label Gud Vibrations will takeover the UMF Radio Stage.

NGHTMRE and SLANDER have played Gud Vibrations shows together at Ultra festivals across the world, but this will be the first time the label will take over a stage at the Miami iteration of the festival series. In Ultra’s announcement of the label takeover, they promise the stage will showcase “high-energy bass.”

It has yet to be seen whether NGHTMRE and SLANDER will perform as separate acts on the Gud Vibrations stage, together, or whether they will do both a separate and joint performance to celebrate their label’s takeover. Gud Vibrations has curated some of the scene’s best bass music as of late, including enlisting Habstrakt for his label debut with “De La Street.” WAVEDASH and Shadient are other frequenters of the label. Time will tell which acts will be featured on the stage, but the announcement certainly builds the anticipation for Ultra’s forthcoming lineup announcements.

Texas-bred trio, WAVEDASH, have illustrated they are a bass-breathing force to be reckoned with thanks to the release of their four-track EP, Opening Ceremony.

After monstrous collaborations with both NGHTMRE and SLANDER, they have fittingly released the EP on the aforementioned artists’ jointly owned label, Gud Vibrations. The compilation falls right in the sweet spot of grimy bass and catchy melodies. Title track, “Opening Ceremony” of the EP was the first song ever released on the label.

The final release of the EP, “The Same,” is now available, and it rounds out the EP with smooth, captivating vocals and soothing sonic moments before a hard-hitting drop. The track adds melodic relief and a new dynamic to the rest of the EP, which is characterized by performance-ready dubstep displays.

The trio spoke to Dancing Astronaut about Opening Ceremony and the final track release, “The Same.”

We’re so excited that ‘The Same’ is finally out as the last track on our EP, Opening Ceremony, on Gud Vibrations. The outro is particularly special as it reflects where we want our sound to go. The aesthetic for Opening Ceremony has been based on a future where bike racing is seen as a premiere event, like the Olympics.

Just like Dancing Astronaut rounds up 25 of the biggest songs of the week for the Hot 25 Spotify playlist each New Music Friday, Lunar Lunes serves as a landing pad for SoundCloud users who want a whole new dose of tunes to kick off the work week.

In this week’s installation, WAVEDASH continue their run on SLANDER and NGHTMRE‘s new label, Gud Vibrations, by tapping frequent collaborator QUEST. Maurice West is bringing big room back with his latest, “The Kick,” and Chris Lorenzo teams up with Taiki Nulight on the latter’s new album, Murky Manor, for “Sinner.” Robbie Rivera‘s new album recently hit the airwaves, dishing up the fine house music he’s been generating for decades, and he thrills with the carefree “We Don’t Care.” Vintage & Morelli have returned with a gorgeous trance rework of Aly & Fila‘s “Paralyzed” with Hailene — and that’s just skimming the surface of the array of selections we’ve gathered this week.

Wavedash and QUEST are back at it again with snarling new single, ‘BSTRD’ via Gud VibrationsWavedash Quest Bstrd Single Gud Vibrations

When Wavedash and QUEST collaborate, magical things happen – dark, twisted, bass-music-from-another-dimension magic to be exact. Whether co-crafting classic dubstep fare or linking for a full EPs, the group of producers always bring their A-game when creating together. Their latest single “BSTRD” unquestionably that continues that streak, with the added distinction of being among the first releases from NGHTMRE and SLANDER‘s recently minted Gud Vibrations imprint.

The track’s halting, glitchy intro sets the stage for head-banging euphoria, before detonating into an onslaught of squelching synths and relentless bass. “BSTRD” masterfully employs moments of silence to bring added impact to each section. The breakdown is less breather and more of an excuse for the artists to stretch flex their rhythmic chops, before once again priming a drop for impact. Wavedash and QUEST’s latest collaboration results in a certified setlist weapon that fuses technical brilliance with downright menacing execution.

Both SLANDER and NGHTMRE have been experimental with their releases, spanning from rap productions to pop tracks. This debut release on Gud Vibrations displays the producers’ continued commitment to the dubstep and bass communities that helped bring the artists into notoriety within the electronic music community in the first place.
