In recent years, Yotto‘s earmark has become synonymous with dreamily danceable aural world building. The Finnish DJ/producer’s expansive tenure on the auspicious deep/tech house Anjunabeats subsidiary, Anjunadeep, has yielded eons of ethereal, journey-like experimentation in and around his chosen realm of cerebral electronica.
The latest notch on his effervescent catalog is a reverie-soaked remix of Diplo‘s “Win Win,” released through the Mad Decent boss’s own label, no less. Yotto takes the Tove Lo collaboration from the club to the clouds. The tech-y synth line swirls and swims like flowing fractals, while Tove Lo’s vapory intonations rise and fall above the track like a euphoric breeze. Yotto, as he does with nearly every offering, actualizes the exceedingly difficult endeavor of creating amorphous electronic music, equally suited for open-air dancefloors and sedate apartment dens.

Diplo continues to flood the music world with new tunes of all genres—the latest of which is a sultry house collaboration with Tove Lo. A-Trak, too, has been releasing a slew of new tunes, including a groovy remix of Axwell‘s “Nobody Else.” Fans of the deepest depths of bass will rejoice at the release of i_o‘s Death by Techno EP on mau5trap, and Ephwurd and Shapes join forces on “Desires.” Flava D puts her own scintillating spin on Anna Lunoe‘s “303,” and TOKiMONSTA casts a soothing spell on “Dream Chorus.” Nitti Gritti and Gammer release their highly anticipated “Underdogs,” a day after the tune premiered on Dancing Astronaut, and The Him tap Maria Hazell for melodic masterpiece “Found Me.” The Midnight bring the early ’90s back with “America Online,” and Wolfgang Gartner kicks up the intensity on “28 Grams.” Sick Individuals‘ new tune, “We Got It,” leads perfectly into the weekend, and Sullivan King and Kai Wachi take no prisoners on the formidable “Between the Lines.” Dimension returns with another drum ‘n’ bass masterpiece in “Devotion,” and STANDERWICK combines elements of rock and trance in “Never Gonna Step Down.”

It’s only May, and Diplo has already had a ridiculously busy year. Kicking off 2019 with his Europa EP, the Mad Decent heavyweight has also released a full album as LSD with Labyrinth and Sia. Just weeks after releasing his “Old Town Road” remix and his country track as Thomas Wesley, Diplo has pulled a complete 180 with the unveiling of his dance-floor ready Higher Ground EP.
Spanning four tracks, the EP includes vocal performances from Tove Lo and Kah-Lo, as well as additional production from Blond:ish. Leaning into the world of tech-house, all four tracks have a deep, driven sound to them. While “Hold You Tight” focuses on a chunkier low-end bounce, “Give Dem” is a pristine, peak-hours club heater, with a grooving bassline and whistles bringing some serious energy to the track. With Tove Lo laying her approachable vocals to a textured, techy backdrop, Diplo has put forth a solid collection of house tracks that are sure to be rinsed during his shows, as well as many others.
Diplo has been dipping heavily into the house worlds as of late. The icon was surprise performer at Damian Lazarus’ Get Lost Miami, and was additionally spotted at parties like Rumors and Rhonda during Coachella Weekend 1. That same weekend he also shocked his crowds with a full house set.
