What a glorious conundrum Sydney Bennett is — a star who burns brighter the deeper she fades into something else. In the early days of Odd Future, Bennett — then working under the name Syd Tha Kid — was one of the group’s most arresting presences, even though she was mostly staying motionless and parked … More »

Summer’s coming, and if it’s anything like Kaytranada‘s latest remix, it’s going to be a hot one.
Off the heels of his dazzling collaboration with R&B/funk artist Robert Glasper for an ArtScience remixes EP, Kaytranda’s dropped off an official remix of The Internet’s “Roll (Burbank Funk),” which the group released last month. Expectedly, it’s an irresistible call to the dance floor.
Of course, remixing a track often proves a difficult task, but if anybody’s body of work were to speak to their mastery of the skill it would be Kaytranada. He’s brought us ample takes on artists all the way from Chance The Rapper to TLC. By sustaining the song’s integral element — its aqueous baseline — and substituting in sharp synths, Kaytranada’s proven himself as a master of funk — and master of all trades — as if it weren’t already crystal clear.
