LO’99‘s new iteration of his own track, “Stay High” with Doolie, recently hit the airwaves with a vengeance. The Australian producer’s dreamy original made its initial debut earlier in the fall, but this new VIP edition sees the artist prepping the tune for a late-night shadowy dance floor.

Mazare is celebrating a stellar first year with Monstercat by revealing a VIP version of his and RUNN‘s emotive “Where Do We Go.” In the new take on the track, Mazare lets the listeners sink deeper into the melodies that endeared them to the track in the first place. This drumstep-inspired tune is a divergence from the original’s strictly drum ‘n’ bass pattern and is a refreshing new spin on the tune.

San Holo‘s album1 has received a variety of remixes since its birth last September, but the bitbird head honcho has chosen to end 2019 with a 15-track set of remixes. This varied set includes a thought-provoking rework from Rootkit, who’s added a drum ‘n’ bass spin on “go back in time.” It’s a completely different way to experience the minimalist track, and the creativity is just bursting from this new version.

T & Sugah have really come out swinging with their latest RAM Records release. The Dutch duo has quite a story behind this powerful number, and it’s no wonder it’s as brilliantly polished as it is.

“‘Mithras’ is a special one for us, since we started working on it back in 2015,” the duo said in a Facebook post. “At the time it didn’t sound the way we wanted it to, but after having revisited it a couple of times over the years it’s now finally out on RAM Records! This is an example (and reminder to ourselves) that shows it’s better to be patient than to rush a tune.”

UKF‘s massive 10-year anniversary compilation kicked off with the release of Camo & Krooked‘s “Atlas,” and it ended the way it began: with a VIP mix of the same song. This approach to “Atlas” packs a bit more of a punch than its predecessor, but overall it’s different in fairly subtle ways. It’s one of those VIPs that’s fun to listen and re-listen to, discovering all its intricacies.

The countdown to UKF10 continues, and with it comes the arrival of a new Mat Zo tune. This drum ‘n’ bass tune with some Latin flair sprinkled in is one of the producer’s most refreshing tunes to date. “Games” is both cool and collected and rambunctious and bold. Mat Zo holds nothing back and does so with style.

Drum&BassArena‘s newest release comes from Kove, a talented staple in today’s drum ‘n’ bass scene. The UK producer has followed up August’s grinding release on the label, “The Motor,” with “The Music,” an energetic piece that plays more into the more vocal-based side of Kove’s production. A frenzied vocal rings out over the powerful rhythm, drawing the listener in.

UKF continues to unleash heaters leading up to the UKF10 release on Nov. 29, including T & Sugah‘s “Never Be Alone,” which debuted earlier this week. This smooth dnb tune kicks off with a compelling vocal, quickly building to the commanding tune it soon morphs into. T & Sugah continue to dominate the scene, no matter what label they’re releasing on.

Au5 and Nori‘s Dusk EP hit the airwaves on Nov. 22. The four-track EP is an exploratory compilation that shows a different facet of Au5’s production. “Nori and I wanted to create a work that’s musically different all while exploring where the depths of one’s emotions can take us,” Au5 said of the release.

Dombresky has revealed an uplifting, empowering new house track called “Trust The Process” on Insomniac. The producer told Billboard the track “is not just about literally trusting the process in life, but about believing in yourself along the way.” It features a groovy piano melody, infectious beat, and irresistible vocals and leaves the listener no choice but to feel optimistic upon listening.

Varien calls his latest single his “favorite track [he’s] made in years.” He’s tapped Strix as the vocalist on the metal-tinged song called “Hush The Storm Away.” Like all Varien music, it’s a beautifully pieced together composition, packed with dramatic percussion, soaring strings, and powerful breakdowns. Given the sheer complexity of his songwriting, I find something new every time I listen to “Hush The Storm Away.” I love it.

In their latest endeavor, T & Sugah have again taken to Liquicity, this time to release the title track for the Descenders video game. This breathtaking track has been two years in the making, according to the Dutch duo, and it’s well worth the wait. They bring their precise sound design and a healthy dose of bass to “Descenders,” thrilling drum ‘n’ bass lovers of all persuasions.

Polish producer Guy Arthur has taken on a classic: Nero‘s “Crush on You,” which skyrocketed to electronic music fame after its release in 2011. It’s been remixed countless times in the eight years since, perhaps most notably by Knife Party in the same year. Guy Arthur’s given his version an upbeat, retro feel, which is appropriate, since Nero sampled a 1985 Jets song to create their initial revival.

Goldroom classifies his latest single, “U,” as “some disco house for a late night on the beach”—and it’s perfect for just that. Following “Do You Feel It Now?” at the end of April, the LA-based producer has this time joined forces with Chela to kick the tempo up a notch. This simmering dance floor heater is primed for both relaxing in the sun and a late-night nightclub, making it the perfect song to ease fans into the summer months.

It’s Com Truise Persuasion System release day! The nine-track “mini-LP” made its full debut on Ghostly International on May 17, showcasing the synthwave producer at his finest. A shining example of this is “Ultrafiche of You,” a glowing five-minute piece that combines varied percussion and twinkling synth melodies. “It’s a love song, and I don’t write many of those,” the producer told Mixmag.

Barely Alive‘s latest is completely unexpected and so unbelievably funky. The dubstep hard-hitters can generally be found creating some of the filthiest wobbles in today’s scene, but their brand new LP sees them painting a canvas of incredibly varied genres. From this groovy collaboration with Great Good Fine Ok to drum & bass on “Warrior” and hip-hop on “Ride Out,” the duo are taking their style to new heights in such a refreshing way.


Prismo gets down and dirty on his latest release, “Solo.” This power anthem puts Jason Derulo’s “Riding Solo” to shame, packing a much grittier, stronger punch. Prismo’s categorized this track as alternative rock, and it certainly leans much more than way than his previous electronic releases. Turns out this is the first of many new tracks in the Austin, Texas artist’s next chapter. “This is the first single from the next chapter of Prismo,” he says in the track’s description. “It’s a statement of my evolution and the passion behind my project.”


And from here on out, we merge into full-fledged drum & bass. New Music Friday has been good to the drum & bass community, delivering heaters from T & Sugah, Matrix & Futurebound, Friction, and so many more. This first one from T & Sugah is the second part of their new two-track Viper Recordings EP. The 3/4 pattern makes for an interesting touch, catching the listener’s ear with its unique beat. Subtle builds and detail-oriented breaks beautifully showcase why this Dutch duo has been on the rise.


Viper Recordings has also delivered the latest from the UK’s famed Matrix & Futurebound: “TARDIS.” They build anticipation impeccably in the introduction, leading the listener down a dark hallway straight into a frenzied drum & bass beat. It’s vivid and eerie, packed with intense, pounding bass and a furious melody. Unfortunately, it’s not out in its entirety yet, but the two-minute clip already previews the immaculate sound design these two demonstrate time and time.


Described by Pete Tong as “one of the big dogs,” Drum & Bass Hall of Famer Friction never ceases to thrill. In his latest, the Brighton producer has remixed UK legends The Prodigy and their song “Need Some1.” This rework is perhaps one of the most intense and creative drum & bass tracks I’ve heard in recent months, further hyping The Prodigy’s forthcoming No Tourists album, due out later this year.

Dutch drum & bass beasts T & Sugah just unleashed a new EP on Liquicity Records called Say My Name. The two-track release features a pair of fast-paced heaters that thrill as their first release since last summer’s “Walk Her Way” and “Demons.” The duo have developed tunes that are the perfect blend of emotive and action-packed. This one, in particular, taps the beautiful vocals of Luna Morgenstern to accentuate the heartfelt atmosphere the duo has created.


Swedish producer F.O.O.L returns with his first release since 2016, “Highway.” The track is packed with cinematic-feeling synthwave production, highlighted by soaring melodies and eerie undertones. It’s rife with the same larger-than-life atmosphere of the killer Astronaut and Far Too Loud remix he did with Didrick years ago. Though its overall vibe is more subdued, it’s a brilliant comeback. With the release of the song, the producer revealed that there’s more to come, including an EP. Excited? Yes, I am.


Hopping back into some higher-BPM tunes with the latest from Sekai and Aleana Redd. This liquid drum & bass piece is simultaneously relaxing and spirited, accented by subtle background horns and gorgeous vocals from Redd. “Rain” is part of Sekai’s Canvas EP, out now on Lacuna Records. As the only drum & bass offering in the four-track collection, it’s an absolute stunner.


Italian producer Lozz has created a swagger-filled house party in his joint Gold Digger and Noir sur Blanc release. “Beast Mode” is a rousing number, emphasized by a hefty bassline and intense chopped-up vocals. With squeaky-clean production and a spirited beat, Lozz’s latest is guaranteed to get even the most stubborn onto the dance floor.


Swiss artist Faux Tales was quiet for the first half of 2018, leading me to wonder what he’s been cooking up. Yet in the past month, he’s dropped an official remix for Pink, along with this thrilling Arcadium release, “Origins.” Faux Tales spends the first portion of the song on a gorgeous piano ballad that steadily builds into something more foreboding. A dark-sounding choir and rapid string melody lead the listener into an epic chillstep section of the track. The producer has created something both beautiful and threatening in “Origins.”
