Tragedy struck right before Axwell Λ Ingrosso’s Spring Awakening appearance in Chicago, forcing the famed act to cancel altogether. They revealed over Twitter that Ingrosso’s car had been broken into and robbed. Among the missing items were Ingrosso’s laptop with all his productions and his laptop, rendering it impossible for him to travel to the USA to fulfill his contractual duties. Axwell stayed behind too as a result.

The Swedish act held a headlining spot on the festival’s main stage on Saturday, June 10, which would marked their first time playing on American soil since the release of their recent EP, More Than You Know. “We’re incredibly sorry to miss Spring Awakening Music Festival and are working to correct this issue before our next USA appearance,” the duo remarked at the end of their announcement. Refunds were issued to those holding passes to their afterparty.

The mysterious masked DJ and producer, Malaa, has been in the spotlight for the last two years thanks to his sinister beats and incredibly raw performances. Stream Duke Dumont and Gorgon City’s uplifting new collaboration, ‘Real Life’

June is here and the hot-weathered bustle of summer is in full swing. For those partying until the early hours in Ibiza and those sipping cocktails by the pool, the search for the quintessential summer tune is already on everyone’s radar.

Cue Duke Dumont and Gorgon City, a prominent grouping of renowned UK house producers and long-time creators of sultry, uplifting sounds. Independently, the artists are globally recognized for their anthemic deep house brilliance, while regularly hyping up crowds at every corner of the globe with their respective chart-topping originals.

Now, to the adoration and excitement of many fans from both projects, Duke Dumont and Gorgon City recently linked up for a glorious new collaboration titled “Real Life” off Astralwerks. The track instantly reads as a star-studded combination of talent, and with the vital addition of NAATIONS‘ illustrious vocalist Nat Dunn, the new release is primed for imminent success.

Gorgon City told Dancing Astronaut the following about their recent collaboration:

“We’ve been friends with Duke Dumont for quite a few years. We’ve gotten to know each other throughout the scene, even prior to Gorgon City when we were doing our solo stuff. We’ve always been a really big fan of him, and thought it would be really cool to do something special this summer. He came back with some cool ideas and we finished it pretty quickly; it’s quite organic and really natural.”

Laying down a solid foundation of thumping four-on-the-floor rhythms, “Real Life”  features a grand display of thick chord progressions, enlivened piano scales, and a scattering of pumped-up percussion to set the mood, while Nat Dunn’s vocals provide an eloquent impact that brings the track together. Altogether, the single is loaded with warmer season sensualities. Gorgon City adds insight to the message behind the single:

“When we were making the track, we had summer in the back of our minds the whole time. We really thought the uplifting piano vibes in the song is kinda like a throwback to a ’90s beat revival, and it felt like that sort of track hasn’t been around for awhile. Also, the lyrics felt very contemporary and poignant to this social media world that we’re living in where we’re figuring out what is real life as well as what is loving someone in real life.”

Duke Dumont and Gorgon City are set to perform at Spring Awakening in Chicago on June 11.
