Everyone shines, everyone is invited, and you are free to be any way and anyone you want to be.”

NMF Roundup: The Glitch Mob slows things down, Borgeous reups Marshmello, ATTLAS stuns, Daniel Avery delivers + more

This post was originally published on this site

The most important day of every week: New Music Friday. As each week brings a succession of new music from some of electronic music’s biggest artists, here’s a selection of tracks that shouldn’t be missed.

Break out your Tigers Beat: The White Panda elevates the hottest rising boy band, save for Brockhampton, lifting Why Don’t We’s empowering hit single “Trust Fund Baby” to newfound heights with an injection of feel-good vibes and upbeat danceability that beckons innumerable repeats.

Raito digs into a bag of old-school garage tricks with a burgeoning breakbeat remix of Virtual Self‘s hyperactive, fantasy-themed electronic “Ghost Voices,” transforming the number into an even heavier, drum-sweltering beast.

Borgeous reupholsters Marshmello‘s “FRIENDS” with a most passionate swatch, ditching the track’s acoustics, and accentuating its passionate lyrics tenfold.

Ashley Wallbridge‘s uplifting Gareth Emery rework and effervescent trance tune aligns itself with an era of Armada‘s finest amidst its formal release.

With the vocal help of Tima Dee, Fareoh asserts his versatile studio reign once more.

Midnight Kids consider Shaun Frank‘s “Addicted” in a compelling new ’80s-centric dance-heavy decorum.

Big Gigantic ushers everyone to the dancefloor with a groovy new take on The KnocksFoster The People collaboration.

Though the track’s title and lyrical content is lacking sincere cerebral depth, SNBRN coalesces Peking Duk‘s “Wasted” into a digestible summertime tune, making the number’s monotone vocals and cringeworthy frat bro vibes a smaller, but bearable pill to swallow.

Marcel Dettman‘s burgeoning warehouse Mount Kimbie remix of “Four Years And One Day” meets streaming services as a meticulously crafted far cry from its shoegazey original.

The Glitch Mob slow things down with Elohim, showcasing their softer side, and highlighting their carefully calculated production capabilities.

Junior Sanchez embodies the essence that’s come to define him on “Forget” — always moving forward, without ever losing sight of where he’s been.

Sofi Tukker busts out a thrashing, ridiculously colorful new tune ahead of their debut album Treehouse out next Friday, April 13, elevating its anticipation to unforeseen heights.

ATTLAS is at home in the treetops and ensures listeners his glittery techno is a style which will only continue to define an era of mau5trap in years to come.

At long last Chris Lake has found his mind…. It seems this beat has taken it, and we’re glad to finally have it back, even if it was just for the sake of this one tantalizing tune.

Daniel Avery’s cavernous, contemplative techno album Song For Alpha has arrived. Perhaps best encapsulating the aforementioned, “Glitter” is a flurry from the club space, rife with atmosphere, and embedded influence of the greats that came before him.

Saving the best for last, Icelandic multi-instrumentalist and composer Ólafur Arnalds bestows his latest sonic gift “re:member.” Enough said.

Sofi Tukker goes deep in this new remix of TOKiMONSTA‘s “I Wish I Could” featuing Selah Sue. The original hit track — featured on the LA-based DJ/producer’s 2017 album Lune Rouge gets a second wind thanks to Tukker’s rhythmic production ability and the start of another energy-filled festival season.

Selah Sue’s vocals are still as catchy as ever, yet Sofi Tukker takes the melody-driven chord progressions and adds a rapid, kick-driven bassline with additional club-ready feels. The duo is gearing up for the release of their debut artist album Treehouse on April 13th, which will be accompanied by a global tour.

Featuring NERVO, The Knocks, and Alisa Ueno, Sofi Tukker produced the hit single, “Best Friend” last year, which features melodic instrumentation of saxophone, bass guitar, and intriguing percussion. Oliver Heldens has put his own spin on the slow-burning track, taking the piece to new, exhilarating heights. With a revved-up tempo, harmonic builds of colorful notes, and the bruising, distinct Heldens signature sound, “Best Friend” receives a glamorous deep house makeover from the Dutch producer.

His remix of “Best Friend” marks his second production of the new year, as Heldens’ previous collaboration with Dada Life, “Live Vibrations,” was dropped earlier in January. Heldens has been grinding out new music over the past several months, and with a ton of rumored unreleased music on the horizon, we are eagerly waiting for what he has in store for this year.

I will start this review off by saying that it is no secret that I freaking love Oliver Heldens. While at first his signature sound did not resonate with I have grown incredibly fond over time. In fact I can easily say that his set during Electric Forest Weekend 1 in 2017 was one of

Lightning in a Bottle drops off diverse 2018 lineup

This post was originally published on this site

Bradley, California’s uniquely immersive festival, Lightning in a Bottle, has revealed the first phase of its 2018 musical line-up, set to take place May 23–28.

In an increasingly monotonous festival market, LiB defines itself in defying the norm. The festival’s forward-thinking curation has presently landed a diverse array of acts from Anderson.Paak & The Free Nationals, to Zhu, GriZ, Fever Ray, The Glitch Mob, Sofi Tukker, TOKiMONSTA, Modeselektor (DJ Set), Emancipator, Nicole Moudaber, The Black Madonna, and more.

Lightning in a Bottle’s strive for diversity in its programming can be best summed in music director and co-founder Jesse Flemming’s words:

“We’re definitely not trying to play the same game we are seeing with all the massive festivals these days when we book our music programming. Forget the big names you can see at 10 other festivals this year. For us the goal is to craft a musical playlist that will perfectly guide people along the experience we’re trying to create. We book each stage to be its own separate journey on any given day and we try to diversify it as much as possible so when you’re wandering around during the weekend you can always find something just right for you. This has been our goal since day one and it continues to shape how we book today.”

More information and tickets to Lightning in a Bottle, which go on-sale January 18 at 10 am PST, are available here.
