BREAKING: Bassnectar’s Freestyle Sessions shut down indefinitely due to venue issuesFreestyle Sessions Night 1 Bassnectar Colorado

Those making their way to Broomfield, Colorado for Bassnectar’s Freestyle Sessions were met with bad news today, June 8 when advised that the second and third days of the annual extravaganza had been cancelled until further notice. Bassnectar stated on his Instagram when breaking the news that “a sudden and unexpected systems malfunction” at the venue, First Bank Center, had lead to an immediate week-long shut down for repair. The team is currently working on solutions for the negative turn of events, with promises to keep guests updated.

Freestyle Sessions began on Friday, June 7 with no known issues at the time. Supporting acts affected by the shutdown include J:Kenzo, Shades, The Librarian, and more. The Sessions are special edition shows by Bassnectar, where the innovative bass figurehead often treats fans to surprising, deep cuts and other stylings not often heard during his standard tour stops.

Hazardous windy conditions have struck a blow on EDC Las Vegas once again. On Saturday night, May 18, the festival’s main stage Kintetic Field and the Dreamstate-hosted Quantum Valley were temporarily shut down due to high winds. Some of the advisory signs also told attendees to evacuate the premises when in reality this wasn’t needed, leading to widespread confusion and upset.

The shutdown didn’t persist through the rest of the night, and eventually both stages reopened. Insomniac also took to its social media platforms to advise guests they could re-enter; however, a large amount had already long exited the venue. Angry comments swelled on Twitter.

EDC Las Vegas has faced wind issues before. In 2012, its second year at the Speedway, the festival fully shut down and fans were barred from entry. Markus Schulz and Steve Aoki notably kept the party going, however, throwing impromptu sets at EDC’s pop-up stages for those that stayed behind.

BREAKING: Severe weather causes Electric Forest shutdownElectric Forest

Storms have descended on Rothbury, Michigan and Double JJ Ranch, where weekend 2 of Insomniac’s Electric Forest is currently underway.  A DA staff member on the ground states, “it’s dumping [rain] and lightning is hitting right outside the sight.”

We’re getting word via social media that as a result, the festival has been shut down indefinitely due to safety concerns from the wind, rain, and other elements pummeling the venue.

REZZ first posted about the festival being shut down, noting that the LED lighting had also been removed from the stage she’d been set to play. Shortly after, Electric Forest posted an official announcement on their Twitter and Facebook about the festival’s closure, asking everyone already on the grounds to please depart the premises and use their cars as shelter.

Rave photographer Rukes later replied to REZZ with a screenshot of the current storms passing through the area, stating the weather advisory predicted things to calm down by around 11 at night.

Stay tuned for more updates on the situation.
