Ed Sheeran Turns Boxer In New Video For “Shape Of You”

Ed Sheeran’s “Shape Of You” has already smashed records, so it’s only appropriate that he crushes some faces in the official music video. In it, he plays a boxer training for a big fight when he meets a girl… clearly the title of the song comes into play here, as both are exquisitely in shape.

In fact, the video tells the story of the song quite well; though the “climax” of the video is actually hilariously anti-climactic, it’s a fantastic story to see unfold. Check it out below:

Quickly rising to the top of Billboard‘s pop charts, Ed Sheeran‘s “Shape of You” has been picked up by more than a handful of artists for some calmative remixes. “Shape of You” was released early January and has been hailed as an instant pop classic. Resting at 95 beats per minute, the original track is prime fodder for moobahton, midtempo, or tropical house remixes. Below, we’ve included five note

Ryan Dwane’s tropical house remix is right in line with the poppy sensibilities of Sheeran’s original. Xylophones and flutes round out the collective frequencies, and a faster tempo endows the track with greater energy.

NOTD has enlivened the song in a different way, opting to give it a future bass spin. Without the original’s steady-beat rhythms, this track breaks from the rest in this list, and blasts listeners with massive synths similar to those found in Illenium’s tracks.

FTampa‘s more sedate remix brings to mind the mid-tempo melodies of Justin Bieber’s ‘Sorry.’ The charting vocals taken from Sheeran’s voice are reminiscent of Major Lazer, DJ Snake, and MØ’s “Lean On” in this revision.

The penultimate “Shape Of U” remix comes from Decoy!, and aligns FTampa’s mid-tempo mood. However, Decoy!’s remix adds whistles and piano lines to the production, resulting in an overall richer sound.

Last but not least, a boisterous remix from James Carter & Levi nicely concludes this list. Impactful horns, charming melodies, and a moombahton tempo help this take on Sheeran to echo the styles of artists like Diplo and Dillon Francis.

The tropically influenced track beats out the previous record holders like Adele’s “Hello” at approximately 47 million plays in its first week, and Drake’s “One Dance” at 48 million plays for the best one week total. Not to mention, Sheeran absolutely shattered the U.K. one-week record, nearly doubling the previous record-holder, and he also knocked out One Direction for the record for best first day of streams.

Ed Sheeran Surprises Fans, Drops Two New Songs

This post was originally published on this site

Yesterday, we thought that Ed Sheeran was gearing up for one new track release. Today, we find out that, “cause I’ve been away for a bit,” said Sheeran, we’re getting two new tracks!

Fans should be well satiated from the new tracks, titled “Castle on the Hill” and “Shape of You.” (Sorry, still no “Rewind Repeat It.”) The former begins with an almost country twinge, featuring an acoustic guitar riff and a Southernly drawl in Sheeran’s voice. As the chorus begins, another comparison could even be made to Dave Matthews Band or Goo Goo Dolls – point being, it’s a solid rock track with nostalgic undertones.

The second track, “Shape of You,” is the one that was teased on Snapchat and Instagram yesterday. Sporting some spoken word verses and a catchy chime melody, this is the simpler of the two tracks but easily more catchy.

Check them both out below.
