Brody Jenner is adding new credentials to his resume with the launch of a new super group called AHZ. The group consists of Jenner, LA-based producers SAVI and Loren Moore, and metal band frontman Adam O’Rourke of 2Cents. Taking it back to the end of the 90’s and early 2000’s, AHZ’s sound fuses grungy rock tropes, post-punk themes, and a heavy dose of bass that gives the sound a contemporary edge. The former reality-star-turned-musician’s new concept is a lot to unload, but it certainly packs a deafening punch. The group’s debut single, “It’s Alive!” is a head-rattling blend of distorted rock and heady dubstep that gives a sneak peek perspective on AHZ’s forthcoming catalog.
AHZ’s aesthetic is much more accurately encapsulated in the group’s live performance. To complement their first record, AHZ filmed a short video feature to fully introduce the new project. Get your first look at AHZ below. Listener beware, this isn’t for the faint of heart.
When producer SAVI and vocalist Bryan Ellis‘s pop perfect collaboration “Voices” dropped in June, it arrived just in time to soundtrack summer with its deft blend of radio ready instrumentals and personal lyrics. Now, the two artists have paired their co-written track with a claustrophobic new music video.
The song’s future pop sensibilities perfectly soundtrack Ellis in his tortured state, following him from a sunlit swanky apartment to dark street corners as he (sometimes literally) runs from demons of relationships past. The video bright and polished, with sharply contrasting horror movie moments highlighting the contrast between SAVI’s fizzing instrumental and Ellis’s lines. The music video is another triumph for the fast rising LA-based producer, perfectly illustrating an artist with a firm grasp on effortlessly palatable genre-blending creations.
Savi is capitalizing on a productive summer season, coming through with another playlist-primed original work, “Your Love,” this time alongside vocalist DYSON. The pair have joined up on Enhanced Recordings, which is quickly becoming a fitting home imprint for Savi’s growing catalog of bright electronic compositions. “Your Love” showcases Savi’s penchant for proctoring infectious electronic ear-worms defined by a sharp, inventive pop sensibility. The LA-based producer’s vibrant, melodic groundwork matches DYSON’s impactful vocal delivery perfectly, accenting an anthemic topline with tightly wound percussion arrangements.
Savi’s latest comes shortly after a deeply personal co-production alongside Bryan Ellis on “Voices,” and while the mood is lightened considerably on “Your Love,” Savi’s last two original offerings prove he’s stitching together a track record of successful studio bouts, and hopefully a more extended project is around the corner from the emerging producer.
Are you a Southern California resident or will you find yourself under its sunny skies this New Years weekend? Are you a fan of EDM (which we hope you are since you’re on our site)? Are you still asking yourself where you will be when the clock strikes midnight? If your answer was ‘yes’ to
Dash Berlin and Savi‘s juxtaposition expressed through their new two-part EP, Home, is a genuine, refreshing experience that gets better with each listen.
The EP contains an original by the two artists, “Home,” followed by a Dash Berlin club mix of the track. The EP showcases an uplifting, future bass-based single that’s bursting with life — and horn stabs. The overall clean sound features an impeccable balance of vocals and lead synth-focused drops. The EP’s namesake track has a more modern dance feel, while Dash Berlin’s club mix contains a more traditional trance/progressive house angle that veteran fans, in particular, will enjoy.
The Chainsmokers heartfelt original “Honest” has just received its official remix package with some very unlikely producers at the helm. The stand out on the 6 track EP goes to Los Angelean SAVI, who made a seismic impact with his recreation of Bob Marley’s “You Could Be Loved” with Marley’s daughter Cedella back in May. Since then he’s seen a steady climb from obscurity into popularity on the back of his impeccable DJ sets and keen ear. The up-and-comer flexes his production muscle on his addition to the remix pack, crafting a club ready foundation under Drew’s lovelorn lyrics.
If we’re being honest, we can’t stop playing this one.
The rest of the EP includes equally fantastic remixes from Lifelike, Rootkit, Tritonal, Gil Glaze, and Maliboux & UNKNWN.
