New James Blake album, ‘Assume Form’ purportedly on deck for release this monthJames Blake 1

Last month, the multi-talented Brit, James Blake, set the scene up in a blaze of intrigue, taunting his crowd with an unreleased André 3000 (of Outkast) collaboration at a Brooklyn DJ set.

Now, thanks to the hyper-vigilant Reddit community (specifically user: Misfitxxx) and a leaked Amazon link, all signs point toward a full-length album from the singer/songwriter, entitled Assume Form. The since-deleted Amazon pre-sale page indicated the album–purportedly slated for a Jan 25 release date–will feature a grocery-list-length sundry of illustrious industry faces from Travis Scott (whom Blake collaborated with for Astroworld-housed “STOP TRYING TO BE GOD”) to Spanish songstress, Rosalía.

Given Blake’s affinity for precipitate album-dropping (2016’s The Colour in Anything), a sans-promo (almost) release is certainly within the realm of possibility for the 1–800–Dinosaur producer.

Below is the tracklist as it appeared on the Amazon pre-sale page:

01 – “Assume Form”
02 – “Mile High”
03 – “Tell Them”
04 – “Into The Red”
05 – “Barefoot In The Park”
06 – “Can’t Believe The Way We Flow”
07 – “Are You In Love?”
08 – “Where’s The Catch?”
09 – “I’ll Come Too”
10 – “Power On”
11 – “Don’t Miss It”
12 – “Lullaby For My Insomniac”

11 things we learned from Wolfgang Gartner’s recent Reddit AMAWolfgang Gartner

Wolfgang Gartner rose from the ashes with his new Medicine EP that showcased his original, complex-electro style with modern day bass house elements. The veteran EDM producer stopped by Reddit to allow users to ask him whatever’s on their minds. A lot of users wondered about production techniques, collaborations/inspirations, and more intimate facts about the man behind the music. Below are 13 things learned from the event.

1) Wolfgang and Skrillex have had major impacts on each other’s sounds throughout their careers. He even got a sneak peek at the watershed Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites. Wolfgang would even follow up on “Devil’s Den” if the opportunity presented itself.

2) JOYRYDE is one of Gartner’s biggest inspirations as of late, which helped him rise from his musical slump.

Card

3) Jaykode made appearances in the AMA, showing love to his friend and collaborator. Gartner describes why the two collaborate so well together, noting that they use a similar, unique chord structure in their productions.

Card

4) He has a grip of new music in the works. While he has as many as 10 new tracks in the can, even after the release of his recent Medicine EP, another full-length album from Wolfgang in the future seems unlikely.

Card

5) His current favorites are JOYRYDE, Habstrakt, and Zomboy, among others.

Card

6) The complextro deity delves into his writing process, revealing that his method relies on the drums in his productions to guide his melodies. He also reveals his favorite hardware of the moment.

7) Wolfgang reveals his career’s biggest obstacle has been chasing balance. As a result, he works in imbalanced life cycles between family and music, spending six to eight months producing and the rest tending to family, loved ones, and health.

Card

8) One of Wolfgang’s biggest musical inspirations is hip-hop icon Timbaland.

Card

9) He sings on Medicine — the first time he’s used his own vocals in over 20 years.

Card

10) It took Gartner 10 years of producing to sell his first song. And he sold it for $300.

Reddit users have uncovered what appears to be coordinates for North American venues on Porter Robinson‘s Virtual Self website.

Virtualself.life was updated on July 9 with a set of latitude and longitude figures that seem to indicate venues across the United States and Canada. Though no dates have been announced, these coordinates appear to indicate a tour outside of the festival circuit the producer is currently on. Robinson is set to appear at Audiotistic, Tomorrowland, Hard Summer, Creamfields and more under his Virtual Self moniker before summer is over.

“Apparently I don’t share enough,” joked Mat Zo on Twitter ahead of his latest Reddit AMA. The iconic producer and proud has always has quite the cheeky sense of humor.

It hardly feels like he needs to share much at times, however, given his track record of bold, yet pristine releases that have made their way onto Anjunabeats and beyond. His ability to adopt any style — from drum ‘n’ bass, to trance — into his range with finesse while remaining grounded and good-natured has made him a household name across the dance spectrum, with many dedicated fans hungrily consuming all they can about him.

That said, Zo still shared plenty during his brief stop at Reddit, divulging details about upcoming music, offering advice and lessons he’s learned through his time in the industry, sharing his favorite Beatles song, and more.

Justice fan posts memorial for deceased iPod on Reddit, then something remarkable happens

This post was originally published on this site

Oftentimes, we build up our most revered icons into deities — in tune with their fans, but maintaining a considerable a degree of celebrity disconnection. Its hard to imagine Daft Punk or Carl Cox surfing the comments sections or sifting through Reddit, but alas, we are sometimes reminded in humbling ways that our favorite creators are just people too. Recently, redditor and Justice fan effennekappa took to the forum to express a memorial post celebrating the lengthy life, and now tragic death of his resilient 160GB iPod. The mp3 brick, adorned with a decal of Justice’s iconic †, belonged to its owner for a decade before it succumbed to natural causes.

“I’ve spent 10 years with this 160gb monster in my pocket, it’s been with me in every single trip, journey and commute I’ve made since I was 20. Today it played its last song. Farewell, you magnificent bastard,”

lamented effennekappa in the thread’s headline.

But as the post began picking up traction online, something remarkable happened. Lo and behold, the Parisian DJs eventually hopped into the thread to pay their respects, offering to personally replace the man’s iPod. The post became one of Reddit’s top posts of the day, with the duo even mentioning they’d replace the iPod with some added new music. Could this mention of new music be Justice’s upcoming studio/live album concept? That would make for a legendary album teaser, but for now, we’re reminded that Xavier and Gaspard are a regular couple of mensches, and even when we’re not awarte of it, sometimes our favorite artists are watching us closely too.
