“Slave to the radio,” Sylvan Esso sings, nearly shouting at points on the duo’s early-2017 hit single, “Radio.” It’s a tongue-in-cheek pop tune, a scathing review of the music industry at large, and not to mention, Sylvan Esso’s biggest radio hit to date, though Cut Copy‘s new version is anything but.
Cut Copy’s remix is far removed from the world of the radio. “Radio?” Cut Copy seems to ask, only to answer with a sonic embodiment of the “I haven’t heard that name in years” meme.
Reversing the total taste vacuum that radio so creates, comes Cut Copy’s own version with scintillating synths and billowing grooves that build on each other even halfway through the song with the least of its concerns being the radio.
The four-track Pryda EP debuted in full on Tiësto’s Club Life 580 Earlier this month, Eric Prydz hit us with a massive six-word teaser, “New Pryda 4 track EP. Incoming…” That was about all it took to send us into an anticipation-filled freakout. All thanks to Tiësto, our insatiable need for new Prydz was quickly subdued at the hands of the most
Destructo‘s Rolodex of rappers just grew by one legendary associate — Busta Rhymes. And while Gary Richards normally recruits his favorite rhymers for his signature G-house products, this time around, the pair go all in on a apologetically through-and-through hip-hop beat, aptly titled, “F**king Sh*t Up.” The title leaves no room for subtlety. The track is a mean-mugging, elbow-throwing trap piece with Busta locked in to delivering his characteristically gruff super-spits over tight hi-hat rolls and snappy snare hits. The track comes in conjunction with an exciting announcement from the LiveStyle president’s camp.
Debuting on SiriusXM on April 12, Destructo’s new AMFAMFAMF Radio program will launch on the newly christened Diplo’s Revolution channel. The weekly radio show, slotted for Thursday nights, will showcase the new AMF brand and presumably include numerous cameos by Destructo’s legendary friends circle. Keeping a packed itinerary as per usual, Richards’ All My Friends road stretch is now on sale as his summer tour dates begin to heat up. With a new radio show launching, a tour nearly underway, and a brand new hit to rinse out all summer long, expect Destructo to be in your line of sight at almost every turn.
Anjunabeats, one of dance music’s most prestigious dance music labels, has decided to launch a 24/7 YouTube radio station featuring a mix of trance music, progressive, techno, and deep house. Anjunabeats, the British label was originally started by Jonathan “Jono” Grant and Paavo Siljamäki, and Tony McGuinness of Above & Beyond back in the year
South African-Swiss DJ/producer Nora En Pure is scheduled to host her very own weekly segment, Purified, on SiriusXM‘s Chill channel. The show is set to premiere Saturday, January 13 at 10 pm ET on Chill (channel 53), and can also be found on SiriusXM’s website. Purified will feature a hefty variety of the more mellow facets of dance music, including indie, nu disco, and of course, deep house.
The task is fit for the trustee, as the deep house maven has proven far more than competent, specifically in house/downtempo DJ and production arenas alike. En Pure has long been creating smooth sensations with her music, entrancing the masses with her 2013 breakthrough deep house track “Come With Me.” Since then, she has eclipsed expectations. In 2016 she was entrusted with curating a two-hour mix for Pete Tong‘s “BBC Essential Mix,” and the next year was the only female to play Tomorrowland‘s Mainstage Daybreak Session.
Trance music icon Armin Van Buuren has had another eventful year, which has surprisingly included the inception of his own MasterClass series, as well as a whole host of fresh music. Now, like most of the EDM industry, van Buuren is preparing for the new year, as the legend has just released the much-awaited A State Of Trance Year Mix for 2017.
The compilation features an astonishing 214 tracks, which have been meticulously mixed into a two-hour-long, pulsating set. The mix features some of ASOT’s best and most successful tracks of the year, featuring names like Seven Lions, Above & Beyond, MaRLo, deadmau5, and van Buuren’s originals as well. As is to be expected, A State Of Trance Year Mix 2017 is a star-studded and entertaining mix — a paradise for trance lovers.
Though he’s in the midst of a massive tour, San Holo is making use of what little down time he gets on the road with a new venture: a radio series.
He’s partnered with Netherlands-based label bitbird for bitbird radio, a series of mixes the producer will be using to share new music and introduce listeners to forthcoming releases on the label.
“I decided to start this radio show because I always get so excited hearing new music, and this is a great way to share all these new finds with you guys. And, of course, this is going to be a great way to tell you about all the upcoming bitbird releases,” he says in the mix’s introduction.
The hour-long mix kicks off with a “mega-collab” from San Holo and six other artists, “If Only,” which came out in October. It also features music from Just A Gent, DROELOE, Taska Black and many more.

CID has debuted on Don Diablo‘s iconic HEXAGON label with “Creepin.” The track has been a highly anticipated after being played in Diablo and CID’s sets over the past few months.
CID’s infectious sound won him a Grammy award back in 2012 for his remix of Cedric Gervais‘ “Summertime Sadness.” That remix skyrocketed his career, allowing for even more success with chart-topping singles like “Secrets” featuring Conrad Sewell and “Believer” featuring CeeLo Green. He’s built up his notorious sound over the years and has caught the attention of music lovers and key industry players around the globe.
“Creepin’ has been a staple in my DJ sets for months. I am very excited to finally be able to share it with everyone as an official release. Don Diablo was one of the first people I played it for, and I’m excited about releasing it through HEXAGON.”
As Ajuna family worldwide ascends onto the Gorge Amphitheater this weekend, Sept. 15-17, those not lucky enough to be inside Central Washington’s picturesque venue can now live vicariously through their computer screens. Above & Beyond has partnered with Live Nation to bring ABGT250 to a live stream on Twitter, featuring line-up support from YOTTO, Lutrell, Seven Lions, Oliver Smith, Moonboots and many more.
The global trance gathering features on-site camping and music from deep within the Ajunabeats and Ajunadeep vault. Saturday’s live stream featured an 8-hour radio broadcast with a tantalizing climactic Group Therapy set c/o Jono, Tony, and Paavo; while Sunday kicks off with a special Above & Beyond yoga set followed by an Ajunadeep stage takeover from 16 Bit Lolitas, Jody Wisternoff & James Grant, and Eli & Fur.
