The 200 Best Songs Of The 2010s

This post was originally published on this site

When this decade began, MP3s still reigned supreme. Now, at the end of it, a song is no longer even a file — it’s ephemera, on every streaming service and available to hear in myriad ways. For better and worse, the song (and the single) have become the norm for the general public’s music consumption. More »

Panda Bear bends minds by dropping newly mixed version of A Day With The Homies EP on the digital streaming universe, then bends them back with new videos for all five songs

This post was originally published on this site

Hey, remember last week when we were talking at the Farmers’ Market and I told you that Panda “Noah Bear” Lennox had just released a new “digital mix” of 2018’s vinyl only EP A Day With The Homies?

Yeah, remember? It was Halloween, and you were trying to decide between the “fingerling” heirloom Yukon Gold potatoes and the REGULAR-SIZED heirloom Yukon Gold potatoes for the homemade poutine you were going to whip up later on?

And I was saying that longtime AnCo bro Rusty “Record Producer” Santos had remixed the EP (you cutely pointed out that the original 12-inch was self-produced and mixed by Noah), and that the OTHER longtime AnCo bro Danny “Visual Artist” Perez had directed a new video for each of the five songs on the EP?

And that it was available to stream all the fuck over the place and to view all the fuck over YouTube?

I mean, I know it was like five days ago, but…you remember, right??

Okay, good.

I just wanted to make sure you remembered having had that conversation.

🙂

A Day With The Homies (Digital Mix) EP Tracklisting:

01. Flight
02. Part of the Math
03. Shepard Tone
04. Nod to the Folks
05. Sunset

The 100 Best Albums Of The 2010s

This post was originally published on this site

The 100 Best Albums Of The 2010sA decade is an arbitrary measurement. They seem confined, these neat little symmetrical 10-year runs, but it’s only in hindsight that we define them, that their signifiers and trends and shorthand become codified. In reality, there are bleeds, the timbre and events of one chunk of time sliding over the border into another. If you’re … More »

Panda Bear shares video for one-off single “playing the long game”

This post was originally published on this site

Noah Lennox, the funniest member of Animal Collective, or so I would imagine, has a new Panda Bear single ready to rock your socks off. Maybe it won’t “rock” so much, but you get the idea, right? One-off single “playing the long game” is available today as audio for your ears and as a video for your eyes. The single is described as continuing “the collaboration between Lennox and producer Rusty Santos” featured on the most recent P. Bear album, February’s Buoys, which includes “hyper-modern production and an undercurrent of speaker-limit-pushing sub-bass low-end.”

From Panda Bear:

We had a good time making this video across the river. Thanks to everyone involved to make it happen. The song is about a brief series of thoughts I had one morning about who I am, what I’m doing, and where I’m going. Hope you enjoy it and hope all’s well.

Check out the Fernanda Pereira-directed video for “playing the long game” below, and head here to stream the single via your favored service. Just make sure your speakers are ready for that limit-pushing sub-bass low-end, fam.

Teebs - "Studie" (Feat. Panda Bear)Teebs is back! After a five year hiatus, Teebs, aka Mtendere Mandowa, is announcing a new album called Annica. The word is a Buddhist step towards enlightenment used to describe the impermanence of all being, and that everything is one. “It’s a reminder to myself that nothing is permanent,” Teebs said in a press release. What’s your favorite thing about September? Grandparent’s Day? Labor Day? That it’s also National Potato Month? Well, fuck all of the above (fuck you too, while I’m at it!), because Dean Blunt’s label World Music has just kicked off a month-long residency at NTS Radio.

Every Friday, the label will take over NTS for an hour (10 AM EST) and play unreleased songs and mixes with “friends & various artists.” Today’s premiere installment, titled “ZUSHI,” features Panda Bear, DJ Escrow, jonatan leandoer96, Mica Levi, Joanne Robertson, A$AP Rocky, and Sauce Walka. Amazing.

I was kidding about the “fuck you too,” by the way. To make up for it, I’ve gathered the proper embed code so you can stream the debut takeover from the convenient little space below this paragraph and above some nasty ads:
