Manila Killa touts soft and sparkling new indie-dance single, ‘Run Away’Manila Killa Run Away Single 1

Manila Killa‘s melodic chops are on full display in his latest offering: a spacious and rousing new single called “Run Away.” Arriving via the producer’s co-founded Moving Castles label, the evocative track is the first solo take in a while from the Filipino producer, who formerly served as one half of Hotel Garuda.

Last seen on an official collaborative flip of the Mission Impossible theme with his fellow collective members, the artist’s newest is in stark contrast to flip’s explosive trap-influenced take. Beginning in a dreamy haze of guitars and echoing vocals, “Run Away” evolves into a wall of wistful melodic tension before landing in a surprise breakbeat drop. Despite the percussive change up, the song never loses its grip on a melancholic core that makes it a new standout of the Manila Killa catalogue.

Khamsin & Kidswaste connect on new single, ‘Plastic Dreams’Khamsin Plastic Dreams Art

French producers Khamsin and Kidswaste linked up for a new jam, “Plastic Dreams.” Both multi-talented musicians are former members of Slow Hours Collective and have been crushing the solo game. Khamsin’s been recruited for remixes by ZHU and Mura Masa, to name a few. The latter, since releasing a debut album in early 2017, has received increased attention with a Manila Killa collaboration and peak Spotify playlist placement. Needless to say, they’ve built quite the listener base for this release.

The track is unique in its own right, with a smooth melody that builds into a pleasing combination of guitar riffs, electro-synths, and captivating vocals. Khamsin said he started on the track a few months ago and then fired it off to Kidswaste.

“He really liked it and told me he wanted to try some guitars & vocals stuff on it… I’m more than happy with the final result on this song, and I think it blends perfectly our mutual universes.”

This is just the start of some new content from the producers, as Khamsin will be releasing a series of singles in the coming months called Reminiscence, and Kidswaste is working on a sophomore album.

Hotel Garuda announce their break up

The duo Hotel Garuda, comprised of Chris Gavino and Aseem Mangaoka, have been beautifully crafting their uplifting house tunes for a magical four years now. However, today they deliver the news that after their upcoming Electric Forest show they will no longer be a duo.

As sad as it might be, they say that this will not be the end of Hotel Garuda and assure that this is only the next chapter.

So, if this is anything like the case with What So Not and Flume, one could assume that Chris will move completely over to his Manilla Killa project and Aseem will remain as the face of Hotel Garuda…but only time will tell.
