Hakkasan reveals stellar 2019 roster topped by Tiësto, ZEDD, Calvin Harris, and Martin GarrixTiesto Hakkasan

Las Vegas has always been host to entertainment’s cream of the crop — from Frank Sinatra to most recently Lady Gaga. However, in terms of electronic dance music, Vegas is more than just the big leagues, it’s the Hall of Fame. The world’s best all seem to make their ways to Sin City and 2019 is no different. Entertainment powerhouse Hakkasan Group has debuted this year’s talent roster for Wet Republic Ultra Pool, OMNIA at Caesars Palace, and of course Hakkasan Nightclub at MGM Grand. Topping the bill this year is seven-time Hakkasan resident, Tiësto, as well as returning resident headliner Calvin Harris, who is contracted through 2020.

Grammy-nominated producer ZEDD will return to Vegas in 2019, along with Martin Garrix, Steve Aoki, and a host of top-tier and up-and-coming electronic performers, ranging from new breakouts Loud Luxury to NGHTMRE, Illenium to Party Favor, and interestingly, Porter Robinson too. “Playing for the crowds in Las Vegas at these amazing venues is an honor for me. I’m fortunate I get to do it again in 2019,” says ZEDD of his return to Nevada for the upcoming events season.

Mysterious Wynn Instagram post hints at Swedish House Mafia date — or more

Wynn Nightlife, home of XS club, has just begun a subtle, yet well-executed frenzy on theirs and XS’ Instagram page that hints at what could be one of their biggest events of the year: Swedish House Mafia‘s imminent arrival.

Nothing is for certain, of course, but the stark black-and-white design with the same font used in other promotional materials for the group plus text that reads, “We Are Home” heavily implies our conjecture. At this moment in time, it’s impossible to tell if the legendary trio will be stopping by as a mere tour stop, or if they’re booked for an actual residency. XS and a swarm of Wynn promoters are currently working to magnify hype to maximum levels with a series of coordinated commenting.

January 9 is the date inscribed on the post when Wynn/XS is expected to unveil its big announcement; until then, we’re on the edge of our seats in anticipation and excitement.

Boys Noize and Lady Gaga tease long-awaited collaboration on opening night of Gaga’s Las Vegas residencyBoys Noize Mayday Lil Internet

Lady Gaga‘s new Las Vegas residency has been one of the most anticipated entertainment events in the country since its announcement over the summer. The show, known as Enigma, is a high-tech production launching at MGM’s Park Theater on Friday December 28. Earlier this year, rumors broke that Boys Noize and the Joanne vocalist were collaborating, and now with Enigma’s debut, Berlin’s favorite son took to Twitter to tease his involvement in the show’s production.

In the tantalizing Enigma teaser posted on Instagram, an animated female figure is whisked through a celestial transformation, ending with a chill-inducing “Hello, Gaga” at the end of the short clip. Boys Noize posted the video as well, suggesting that he’s adding to his already spectacular rap sheet in 2018 as his presumed collaboration with Lady Gaga is likely starting to reach the surface. Gaga will perform for the first time at the Park MGM a decade after the New Yorker skyrocketed into super stardom with her debut album, The Fame.

Drake is headed to the Strip — slated headline XS Nightclub in early 2019

Drake is headed to the Strip — slated headline XS Nightclub in early 2019Drake Getty

Drake is headed to Las Vegas in 2019, and he’s got the Wynn in his cross hairs. With too many Vegas-inspired lyrics to count, the OVO helmer will be right at home when he headlines XS Nightclub on January 10, as part of the larger Consumer Electronics Show going on that same week. The show is billed as an added amenity for the convention, though admission is also open to the public. While Drake’s Strip appearances have previously been more few and far between, his performance at XS at the onset of 2019 has sparked speculation that Vegas might be a more frequent territory for the Scorpion rapper in the future, and additional performances could soon follow.

While Drizzy is only confirmed for his performance on January 10, sources close to XS have seemingly confirmed the pop star has inked an agreement to appear for a 12-show run at the club over the next two years. Live Drake performances will be in high demand next year, following his unsurprising sweep of Spotify and Apple Music’s year end statistics in 2018.

Las Vegas’ MSG Sphere looks to take live performances to the next level

As live performance venues continue to look for new and innovative ways to immerse their attendees fully in the experience, the company behind Madison Square Garden looks to take things up a notch.

The company has planned an ambitious new project in Las Vegas: an 18,000-seat, dome-shaped performance venue in The Venetian called the MSG Sphere. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Madison Square Garden Company execs James Dolan and David Dibble explained that the unique venue walls will be made up of massive screens and 157,000 ultra-directional speakers. Dibble noted that the gigantic video screens will arc up over the audience “like a planetarium times ten” to create an all-encompassing experience, with the speaker system embedded in the walls behind the screens. The flooring, too, will be part of this immersive experience.

“We have developed a haptic flooring system,” Dibble told Rolling Stone. “It’s still a bit of a work in progress, but the lowest bass response, instead of being transmitted through the air, is literally transmitted through the floor, directly into your feet or onto the chair in which you sit, and it’s a remarkable experience.”

The MSG Sphere is set to open by 2021, with another similar model planned for East London.
