The baffling and upsetting Kanye West/Donald Trump love affair continues. According to sources who spoke with the Times, West wants to discuss criminal justice … More »
Kanye West was the musical guest of last week’s SNL season premiere. As quickly as he came back, Kanye West has now disappeared from Instagram and Twitter, possibly ending a polarizing summer of often batshit crazy pop culture pot stirrings. As of October 6, the rapper’s Instagram and Twitter accounts appear to have gone dark. Ye’s return to Twitter was an integral facet to the “promotion campaigns” behind his Wyoming Session albums that were released over the summer, rejoining the platform just weeks before the string of shortened LPs started landing in May. A return to Instagram followed some weeks later, each platform drawing in millions of followers — but rather than deploying typical marketing schemes to push album sales, the Chicago-born rapper’s social media presence largely spiraled into sporadic nonsense, bloated egotistical musings, and eventually, and perhaps most noticeably, divisive Trump-touting and weak rap beef fodder.
Most recently, Ye’s hastily promised Yhandi LP managed to miss its intended late-September release date. Then the rhymer’s unaired closing speech at SNL, during which he claims he was bullied for his political affiliations, was closely followed by what was likely his most baffling social media post yet — calling to “abolish the 13th amendment,” which brought an end to slavery when it was ratified in 1865. After a messy, albeit entertaining, six month stretch on social media, it seems Kanye West may finally be ready to keep a couple of thoughts to himself. An eventual return seems inevitable, though for now, the Twittersphere may quiet down just a little with Ye’s departure.

On a video promoted by Kanye West, Dame Dash is pitching a beat he calls his own to Mr. West. Dash is seen feeling this beat for a total of one minute and 17 seconds, selling Kanye on his creative genius. Unfortunately for the co-founder of Roc-A-Fella Records, that song isn’t his. It’s Diplo‘s from his 2004 album, Florida, “Sarah.“
Dash says in the video, “Yo, bro. I’ma send you this beat. Don’t talk that shit talkin’ bout you ready to rap, had me come cook some shit up, get in the lab. We make shit up. I’m in the studio, making motherfucking records, and I got more, so just let me know. You have to respect my creativity in this motherfucker. I’m only telling you this to get you hyped over this shit. I’ma email this shit to you. Let this shit get your mind right.”
Hyping up his genius creativity and ownership for over a minute became cringeworthy once the Mad Decent label boss called him out Twitter. The fake Diplo account created for Vice’s comedy What Would Diplo Do?

It’s been a whirlwind of waiting and rumors for Kanye West fans so far this fall. In an interview with TMZ, Ye dropped some bad news for those eagerly anticipating his Yanhdi project’s arrival, telling fans of plans to head to Africa for more recording sessions with the aim of releasing his LP on November 23. After previously stating the album would be released on September 28, and even booking a coinciding slot on “Saturday Night Live” to promote the drop, the date came and went without new Yeezy.
West plans to head to Africa on a quest to “feel the earth, and just be,” explained the rapper. “Those five albums that I dropped earlier were like superhero rehabilitation. Now the alien ‘Ye is fully back in mode.” Despite his previous project ye containing just seven tight tracks, many were still surprised when Yeezy began teasing his Yahndi LP. Despite the frustrating delays, it’s clear the G.O.O.D Music boss is planning to make Yahdi something special. Although the music world has learned the hard way Kanye’s release dates are subject to change, his new album would be a thanksgiving highlight if it indeed drops this coming Black Friday.
Unsurprisingly, over six months in advance, the eternally trendy Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is already garnering a swarm of rumors regarding its 2019 headliners.
The scoop comes from HITS Daily Double, as the outlet recently reported via anonymous, “informed sources” that the imminent installment (set to run April 12-21) will house headlining performances from Childish Gambino (Friday), Justin Timberlake (Saturday), and Kanye West (Sunday). The artists themselves have yet to comment on these claims.
Coachella 2018 proved particularly eventful, with notable performances from both Beyonce, who brought with her over 100 dancers onstage during her headlining set—in addition to a cameo from husband Jay-Z—and Whethan, the 19-year-old Boy Wonder of EDM, who personally flew out the yodeling boy internet sensation for a special guest performance, which quickly went viral on a sundry of social media channels.

This year’s Coachella lineup was notable for its lack of rock headliners, with the Weeknd, Beyoncé, and Eminem topping a bill once dominated by guitar-powered legacy acts.
