Justice Skolnik Gives J. Cole’s ‘Lights Please’ a Colorful Remake

Justice Skolnik will not be ignored. His most recent remix, ‘Lights Please’ by J. Cole, is arguably the most convincing reason to keep watch on this guy blowing up. His remix of The Weeknd’s ‘Wicked Games’ is the juiciest, most satisfying version I’ve heard yet and his take on Marvin Gaye’s ‘Sexual Healing’ exemplifies his

Justice Skolnik – Lights Please [Free DL]

Are there any J Cole fans in here? Emerging bass music producer Justice Skolnik really caught my ear in the last few months of last year and with his first release of the year, a flip of J Cole’s “Light Please” he looks ready to build on that momentum.

The supreme vocal chops are definitely the first thing that really stood out to me. Justice Skolnik nimbly manipulates J Cole’s lyrics to either accentuate or tone down the intimate nature of the lyrics before showcasing his impeccable sound design with two delicately constructed drops. All in all, the producer does a good job flipping a modern day hip-hop into an upbeat future bass tune.

Justice Skolnik – Miss You [Free Download]

Just who is Justice Skolnik anyway? That’s what I’ve been wondering for some time now. He first burst onto the scene with a remix of “Without You” by Oh Wonder and followed that with an original single only to disappear. Now, he’s re-emerged on the backs of a few successful releases. “Miss You” is his latest.

“Miss You” is a silky-smooth future bass track that you should definitely keep track of for any Valentine’s Day related playlists. There’s a buttery subtlety to this track that really helps it stand out from most of the other brash, aggressive, vocal-chop dominated releases in this space.

Justice Skolnik – You Could Be Down

Justice Skolnik is back with another astonishing release, but that’s really no surprise. The San Francisco-based producer has had a slew of hits already, his most recent being a phenomenal remix of Matoma’s “False Alarm.” With a quickly growing catalogue of popular tracks, Skolnik has solidified his place an up and coming talent to watch out for this coming year. The new track, “You Could Be Down,” released today, further pushes Skolnik to the forefront of exciting, original producers.

The track begins with subtle chords and rippling arpeggios. Vocal chops quickly make their way into the sound, inviting the listener in. The track progresses, sprinkling Skolnik’s signature happy sound with plucked, almost tropical synths. Thumping, punchy bass pervades your speakers as filtered, waving synths summon you into dancing. Check out the track below and watch out for Justice Skolnik to be on your playlist more frequently:
