The Weeknd’s saga continues in the sequel to his “Heartless” music video in the crooner’s follow-up single, “Blinding Lights.” Following the aftermath of his Las Vegas escapades in a the “Heartless” video, the new Anton Tammi-directed visual for “Blinding Lights,” finds The Weeknd taking a joyride through the city before meeting his maker.
“Heartless” peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard charts while “Blinding Lights” peaked at No. 11, with nearly double the streams from its predecessor on Spotify.
The Canadian R&B heymaker’s new project suggests vastly contrasting images of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde proportions. Another peek into the upcoming LP was offered by the reuniting Neptunes, noting in a recent interview with with Clash that the duo had linked with The Weeknd in the studio. DJ Shadow and De La Soul recently performed their first collaboration, “Rocket Fuel,” on Jimmy Kimmel Live! They were joined on stage by Babu from Dilated Peoples and DJ Melo D from Beat Junkies alongside a five-piece horn section.
The track is featured on DJ Shadow’s new 23-track album, Our Pathetic Age, that features the classic A and B side for a two-part long play. However, on May 10, Glover took to Jimmy Kimmel Live, where he told Kimmel that he has altogether avoided the internet and the video’s reception therein since he debuted the song on Saturday Night Live last weekend.
