Axwell Reveals the Humble Origin of His Name

This post was originally published on this site

Axwell has enjoyed an absolutely ridiculous career, from being part of dance music’s legendary Swedish House Mafia, continuing as Axwell Λ Ingrosso, and even just kicking ass as a solo artist. Still, throughout all the fame, he remains a humble guy that happened to have stumbled into fame from a love of nerding out with computers.

Of course, having a cool moniker to back your music doesn’t hurt, and “Axwell” sounds every bit as vicious as the progressive anthems he churns out. However, the story of how Axwell came to be has its roots in a quaint household coffee company.

“Well you know, in school, we just gave each other names, nick names all the time. And mine actually evolved from when I started to make music. My real name is Axel, so it just came from there. Axel, Axelars, Uxel and then it went to Maxwell House for a little bit and then it just came down to Axwell.”

Axwell / Ingrosso team up with Kid Ink for “I Love You (Working Title)”

This post was originally published on this site

There’s tons of news coming out of Sunburn Music Festival in India but perhaps the biggest reveal from the largest festival in Asia came at the hands of the legendary Axwell and Ingrosso. During their performance, the guys delighted the crowd with a first listen of their newest production. An eerily familiar string section (The Verve’s “Bittersweet Symphony” anyone?) kicks off the duo’s latest collaboration with Los Angeles-based hip hop phenom. A blend of orchestral elements, dubby bass lines, soaring R&B vocals, and Ink’s silky smooth flows all work together with impeccable ease. Testament to both producers’ sonic versatility, “I Love You (Working Title)” is a sharp but welcome stylistic departure for the progressive house icons.

No set release date yet. But expect this one to find its way into the duo’s sets throughout 2017.

Conflicting Reports Suggest A 2017 Swedish House Mafia Reunion Could Be Possible

This post was originally published on this site

According to multiple sources close to the matter, Swedish House Mafia‘s rumored 2017 reunion is a go. Several sources told Billboard that performances are likely to include Miami’s Ultra Music Festival in March, as well as stops in Los Angeles and New York. Members Axwell and Ingrosso are both already set to headline Ultra.

Amy Thomson, longtime manager of SHM, has told Billboard directly that the rumors are false. “There’s no reunion of Swedish House Mafia planned at all. Even if there was, it’s ridiculously private. They’re not playing at Ultra. There’s no reunion tour planned.”

Thomson also took to her Twitter to respond to the rumors.

Ever since the rumors began to pick up steam in July of this year after Proximity teased their return, Axwell, Angello and Ingrosso have all denied their validity.

Despite their, and Thomson’s, denial, however, the sources close to the matter have maintained that the reunion will happen.

Traditionally an electronic dance music festival, Sweden’s Summerburst has swooped up Justin Bieber to grace the Stockholm festival in June 2017.

Bieber’s work with Major Lazer, DJ Snake, Skrillex, and Jack Ü has allowed the pop star to muscle his way onto the lineup alongside the legendary Eric Prydz, Tiësto, and Axwell Λ Ingrosso. Here’s the official statement from Summerburst’s Festival General, Anders Bostrom:

“We are absolutely beside ourselves with happiness to welcome perhaps the world’s greatest pop artist to Stockholm and Summerburst 2017. Justin Bieber brings his show to really take Summerburst and dance to new heights, and this is perhaps the most exciting thing we’ve ever done on the Summerburst scene.”
