Lightning in a Bottle drops off diverse 2018 lineup

Bradley, California’s uniquely immersive festival, Lightning in a Bottle, has revealed the first phase of its 2018 musical line-up, set to take place May 23–28.

In an increasingly monotonous festival market, LiB defines itself in defying the norm. The festival’s forward-thinking curation has presently landed a diverse array of acts from Anderson.Paak & The Free Nationals, to Zhu, GriZ, Fever Ray, The Glitch Mob, Sofi Tukker, TOKiMONSTA, Modeselektor (DJ Set), Emancipator, Nicole Moudaber, The Black Madonna, and more.

Lightning in a Bottle’s strive for diversity in its programming can be best summed in music director and co-founder Jesse Flemming’s words:

“We’re definitely not trying to play the same game we are seeing with all the massive festivals these days when we book our music programming. Forget the big names you can see at 10 other festivals this year. For us the goal is to craft a musical playlist that will perfectly guide people along the experience we’re trying to create. We book each stage to be its own separate journey on any given day and we try to diversify it as much as possible so when you’re wandering around during the weekend you can always find something just right for you. This has been our goal since day one and it continues to shape how we book today.”

More information and tickets to Lightning in a Bottle, which go on-sale January 18 at 10 am PST, are available here.

Exclusive: GRiZ drops jarring dubstep remix of Freddy Todd’s ‘Audible Edibles’

This post was originally published on this site

Funk master extraordinaire GRiZ has received worldwide recognition for pioneering an enthralling, idiosyncratic genre of music that is known for its captivating electronic beats accompanied by soulful melodies on saxophone. He has produced infectious originals such as “Good Times Roll,” “Gotta Push On,” and “My Friends and I,” all from his latest hit album, Good Will Prevail, released in September of 2016.

A true musical maestro, GRiZ tends to experiment with an array of different techniques while still infusing his signature style into his creations. In his latest release, GRiZ brings listeners something different with an energetic dubstep remix of Freddy Todd’s “Audible Edibles.” The funk master’s take on Todd’s bruising original brings the single to new heights as he incorporates eerie, distorted vocal samples, prominent builds with intense waves of escalating synths, and an intriguing contrast between choppy excerpts and longer undulations of paralyzing bass.

GRiZ’s remix of “Audible Edibles” can be downloaded for free here.

GRiZ Surprises Fans With Second Installment of ‘Chasing the Golden Hour Part 2’

This post was originally published on this site

GRiZ surprised listeners today with the second installment of the mixtape Chasing the Golden Hour. This release follows a massive weekend featuring three back to back sold-out performances, including two Red Rocks headliners. In 2015, GRiZ amazed fans with Chasing the Golden Hour Pt. 1. Straying from his usual style, the free release spread like wildfire and amassed millions of streams across the internet.

GRiZ aims to recreate the carefree feeling when it’s just about sunset on the perfect summer evening, when everything is the most beautiful shimmering tint of gold. Chasing The Golden Hour is that magical moment; it is sweet summer in music form. There’s something in the mixtape for everyone – the saxophone-playing revolutionary stepped out of his comfort zone with this surprise release and created songs with hints of Hip Hop, Soul, Dance and R&B. Featuring a blend of instrumental tracks and minimal beats, the mixtape perfectly reflects the laid back and serene feelings GRiZ has been curating for years.

GRiZ shares chill 4/20 ballad with ProbCause & Jaye Pryme, ‘Smoke That’

This post was originally published on this site

Although GRiZ released a full 13-track Good Will Continue (Remixes) project just a little more than a week ago, the Colorado-based future funk artist has been busy in his home studio collaborating with some of his friends. After all, Grant Kwiecinski, the man behind GRiZ, is known for regularly hosting live studio feeds on his Facebook page for his beloved fan base, the most recent of which was a jam session hosted at his flat in the Rockies.

“Smoke That,” out Aug. 28, is lighthearted downtempo track that truly speaks to Grant’s love of the ganja. Produced on the national 4/20 holiday with close collaborators ProbCause and Jaye Pryme, the track features all the beautiful funk elements GRiZ has become widely known for, including a saxophone melody and futuristic synth chords, along with some chill candy-glitch samples. The result is a fun and lovable ballad that highlights Pryme’s angelic chorus vocals and ProbCause’s hip-hop lyrics on the verses.
