Your EDM Premiere: SuDs – Cog Wheels

Following his epic announcement of the upcoming Ghetto Trippin Tour, bass wizard SuDs has emerged with one of the most fiery singles off of his newest EP, F. Society. “Cog Wheels” takes the collective energy of the compilation at large and mangles it into a truly deadly concoction. By the time you’re through listening to this song, you’d be lucky not to find yourself on your stomach scooting across the floor in a mixture of agony and bliss.

It begins with scattered percussion hits and an ominous background soundscape before rising quickly towards a dripping, grimy rhythm full of ungodly growls, chest-rattling sub bass and the kind of minimalist arrangement that twists your face into a knot. The haunting atmospheric tones from the introduction eventually creep back into the forefront, before being abandoned once more for an eyeball-squishing medley of bass synths. Spectrum-wide horn blasts break up the filth for brief moments, serving as necessary seconds to breathe between the sloshing waves of bass.

Drezo takes on Tchami and Malaa’s ‘Prophecy’ [Free Download]

Techno is increasingly stepping out of the underground confines it was once relegated to, thanks to artists like BlackGummy, Rezz, and LA’s Andre Haglund. Better known as Drezo, the 26-year-old producer has a knack for pulsing, ominous techno, though releases from his catalog frequently experiment with evident hip-hop and house inspiration.

For his latest offering, Haglund sticks to his warehouse roots with a dark new remix. Crafting an aggressive flip on Tchami and Malaa‘s “Prophecy,” the producer brands the once buoyant house tune with his sinister techno seal. Marking his first release of 2017, Haglund is offering up his remix free of charge.

Modifying the original with slight shifts in tempo and melody, the “Guap” producer swaps Tchami and Malaa’s playful bounce for a pummeling bassline. Chopping and layering the original’s sample selection with a heavy dose of reverb, Drezo adds another ace remix to an already impressive arsenal of inventive reworks.

PatrickReza – Choices [Free Download]

Of all the electronic music coming out these days, there’s very little of it that I would describe as “ravey” – it’s just not a word I use all that often. Then again, I hadn’t yet heard PatrickReza’s “Choices.”

Beginning with some heavily distorted pads and moving onto a full-fledged, ADHD drop with swirling synths and frenetic percussion, when this drops, you can expect a full dose of cryo and insane lasers. It goes into a short bridge before once again descending into absolute rave madness.

What “Choices” does so well is in taking popular EDM tropes like the playful synths or the high-pitched vocals and chops and actually making a song out of it, rather than just a “track.” Check it out below and see what I mean:

The Weeknd – Party Monster (KRANE Remix) [Free Download]

KRANE just flexed out a fresh remix of The Weeknd’s “Party Monster,” and I promise you’ll be hearing this ravaging clubs in the very near future.

Taking advantage of the nostalgia laden synths of The Weeknd’s original mix, KRANE has manipulated the arrangement into a sweltering trap anthem building the existing chorus into a soaring drop. Luscious bass covers the entire track, and of course, The Weeknd’s vocals are kept front and center to drive the vibe home.
