Just like Dancing Astronaut rounds up 25 of the biggest songs of the week for the Hot 25 Spotify playlist each New Music Friday, Lunar Lunes serves as a landing pad for SoundCloud users who want a whole new dose of tunes to kick off the work week.

Flosstradamus gives NGHTMRE and A$AP Ferg‘s “REDLIGHT” a bass upgrade in his brand new remix of the recent collaboration. In the original, A$AP Ferg’s punching verses feed off the intensity of shrill horns, drum rolls, and deep-seated drops, all of which imbue “REDLIGHT” with an aggressive, cinematic sonic personality that renders the track yet another hype-inducing number to bear the NGHTMRE stamp. NGHTMRE followed the debut of the hip-hop electronic hybrid with a VIP rework of the original, where NGHTMRE sank the song’s defining bass synths to a graver, low-end position.
NGHTMRE’s submission of the throttling original and rework of the aforementioned has now caught the attention of trap aficionado, Flosstradamus, who comes through with a hard hitting “REDLIGHT” revamp. Flosstradamus’ re-imaginative effort is no less potent than either of NGHTMRE’s showings. Flosstradamus preserves the adrenaline spiking horn work and A$AP Ferg’s verses. Much of the producer’s revision is audible in the tune’s builds, where Flosstradamus swaps out the simmering ascent of NGHTMRE’s original for a rise that is noticeably quicker in pace. The ascents momentarily give way to drops derivative of Flosstradamus’ trap expertise. As the trap veteran’s remix so incontrovertibly conveys, there’s certainly nothing weak about Flosstradamus’ version of the NGHTMRE fan favorite.

Back for its third year in the running, Lost Lands officially revealed its full lineup for 2019. Packed with fan favorites as well as fresh talent, the Excision-curated festival returns to Legend Valley, Ohio for three days of headbanger heaven Sept. 27-29.
Since Lost Lands’ inception, creator Excision has continued working to improve the festival experience for attendees. Some focus points promised for this year’s iteration include introduction of Wednesday early entry, reformatting of the “Dino Den” area to include three camping options, relocation of late-night sound camps to the main venue, and stop additions to the long haul shuttles.
This year’s lineup boasts diversity across the bass scene, bringing on big names like Black Tiger Sex Machine, Ganja White Night, Flosstradamus, Subtronics, EPROM and championing rising newcomers like Whipped Cream, Wavedash, Wooli, 1788-L and Peekaboo. Whether listeners will be basking in the Miami sun, or alternatively watching Miami Music Week and Ultra Music Festival unfold from a distance, Ultra Records ensures that electronic aficionados won’t need to shuffle incessantly to find the songs sure to keep the energy going, from dusk to dawn. Cue—or rather, queue—Ultra Records’ ULTRA Music Festival 2019, a diverse collection of 16 cuts from a selection of top-billed artists, all of which will take the decks at the festival’s 21st iteration, from March 29-31.
With appearances from ZHU, Black Coffee, Louis The Child, SNBRN, Flosstradamus, Hot Since 82, and a wealth of other respected acts, the compilation encompasses the range of genre and sound evident represented on this year’s lineup. In its engagement of an array of different sub-genres and sonic styles, ULTRA Music Festival 2019 is evidence of the electronic inclusivity that has long contributed to Ultra’s status as the world’s premiere electronic music festival.

Nitti Gritti is a force to be reckoned with in 2018. In August, he unveiled Bootlegs Vol. 2, a remix EP including edits of Earth, Wind, & Fire‘s “September,” Waka Flocka Flames‘ “Hard In Da Paint,” and other cult classics. More recently, he’s gifted fans with an original EP entitled Drive released on Diplo‘s Mad Decent imprint. With this string of EP releases (and a few remixes in between), the Miami-based producer is pushing boundaries and earning tour support for high-end artists such as NGHTMRE, Etc! Etc!, Party Favor, and more.
Now, on October 26, one of his most anticipated shows of the year has arrived, as Gritti will take the stage with Valentino Khan and Dillon Francis at Light & Life’s Halloween Warehouse 2018. To prime attendees for what should be a freaky night in the depths of Brooklyn, Gritti has curated an Orbit Spotify playlist exclusively for DA.
The selection includes hard-hitting tracks from his current rotation, including favorites from his Drive EP, the Boombox Cartel and Flosstradamus team-up “ID,” “Crystal Eyes” from Ekali‘s 2018 debut EP, and more.
The Roland TR-808 is one of the most innovative machines in the past century of music. Only on sale from 1980 to 1983, this short span of time saw the 808 gain major influence in techno and essentially birth the early hip-hop movement, from the raw sounds of Detroit to Afrika Bambaataa‘s classic “Planet Rock.” As the sound emerged from the underground, the drum machine garnered mainstream attention with it’s use in Marvin Gaye’s “Sexual Healing” in 1982, while becoming a mainstay for hip-hop acts like Public Enemy and Run DMC. As pop music in the 80’s drifted towards a more electronic sound, the 808 was eventually adopted by everyone from Whitney Houston to Phil Collins.
Though the machine fell out of the mainstream in the 1990’s due to a lack of availability, an overuse of the sound, and east coast hip-hop’s shift to more soulful, jazzy beats, it stayed strong in US and European rave scenes while America’s burgeoning southern trap scene began to flourish and the end of the millennium. The early 2000’s saw the likes of Gucci Mane, T.I., and Young Jeezy (and their producers) utilizing the TR-808 to form rap music’s now ubiquitous trap genre.
Kanye West modernized the use of the drum machine in the 21st century on his seminal 808s and Heartbreaks, though samples of the 808 are nearly everywhere, and have been for quite some time. Eventually artists like Flosstradamus, Baauer, TNGHT, and Diplo began using the signature percussion of trap music, and a new sub-genre emerged, adding diversity to EDM’s popular dubstep/big room/progressive house dynamics. Rickyxsan and YehMe2 of Flosstradamus fame release a flaming trap remix of Kendrick Lamar’s “X,” featuring 2 Chainz and Saudi. The original, which was also produced by Lamar, was featured on the Black Panther album.
This new version of “X” hardly uses Lamar’s vocals, becoming a record completely Rickyxsan and Yehme2’s own. They pitch up the tempo to add energy, inserting some bounce into the mix as well with titillating synthesizer. Then, pitched-up vocals fall into gritty bass, squeaking syntns, and mammoth 808s that sends shivers down the spine. It’s safe to say they’ve adapted Kendrick Lamar’s piece into a veritable festival hit, geared toward causing a frenzy among its listeners.
Ricky and Josh Young have been friends for a while but have never collaborated. Once Young started working on the remix, his mind went to Rickyxsan to help create this body melting trap vibe.

Flosstradamus has never shaken his reputation for producing bass-fueled, club-ready beats that cause utter destruction on any dancefloor. Deceptively titled, “Guava” — his newest collaboration with Rawtek titled — is far from the sweet, soft flavors the name brings to mind.
Instead, it opens on a jarring note, with staggered synth progressions opening into a violent build-up with deeply synthesized vocals before dropping into utter chaos. “Guava” is the perfect addition to a club set, and will certainly get some air time as festival season continues.
Quite awhile had passed since we last heard from Floss. The producer — formerly one of two — took an intriguing turn into hip-hop with “MVP” in April. Meanwhile, Rawtek is relatively new to the trap sphere, making their name with the help of Yellow Claw and the Barong family.

It’s no secret that NGHTMRE stormed the music scene ever since his release of “Street,” where he showed his creativity by sampling a pan and turning it into one of the biggest trap songs of 2015. Since then he has seen massive success from his own headline tours to more hard hitting originals and of course remixes.
Now, the producer is back with another face melter in the form of a remix for Flosstradamus and Smokepurpp’s “MVP.” The original was enough to get us bouncing and singing along, however NGHTMRE adds his special touch and turns it into a song that you are now aggressively dancing to and probably uncontrollably shouting lyrics in your friends face.
With the heaviest of synths, punchy kicks and crispy snares, NGHTMRE welcomes you into the weekend.
