After hit release “Raindrops,” Kevin Andrew Chapman’s career took off thanks to his house hits and dynamic live performances. The LA-based producer, who is more commonly known as SNBRN, has releases that span from deep to tropical house, giving fans from a variety of genres something to like.

Dancing Astronaut spoke to Chapman about everything from his favorite book to what he has in store for 2018, and his responses prove that the producer is more than meets the eye. When he is not creating music, SNBRN is an avid reader and family guy, noting how much he loves playing in San Francisco because family is able to come to his shows.

The enigmatic producer has performed all over the world — including fulfilling his teenage dream of playing at Coachella. He is performing on the sold out Groove Cruise this year alongside the likes of Markus Schulz, Dada Life, Thomas Jack. With a new EP on the way, and upcoming tour dates with 3LAU, the house connoisseur is setting the stage for a big year ahead.

READ THE FULL INTERVIEW BELOW:
You recently tweeted “Reading books is sexy!” What is your favorite book?

Now that’s a tough one! My favorite book to gift that I’ve read a million times is Steal Like an Artist: 10 Things Nobody Told You About Being Creative‎, and my current favorite book is The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck.

You became interested in music and music production at a very young age. Who and/or what genres of music were some of your inspirations for this interest?

My inspiration as a kid came from rock music- Queen, Led Zeppelin & Sublime. As I got more into electronic music, Fatboy slim and Moby pretty much became my idols.

Do you have a favorite city and/or venue to play at?

I would have to say San Francisco. Always an amazing vibe, and my family comes to every show.

What has been the most exciting moment for you in your career so far?

Playing Coachella last year takes the cake! That has been a huge dream of mine since I was 16 years old.

What do you have in store for us in 2018?

I have passion project EP of tech house coming out early this year that I am really excited about. I’m also exploring new sounds and tempos for some bigger vocal singles coming out later in the year.

Facebook Doubles Down On Live, Adds New Live Video Feature To Instagram

This post was originally published on this site

Facebook Live has asserted itself as one of the breakout features of 2016, and has changed the way friends can interact, and the feature has even found a place in news, informing the public of current events like the DAPL protests.

Now, Instagram has launched their own Live Stream feature, which will be become available to iOS and Android users across the next few days. The main difference between Facebook Live and Instagram Live Video will be the fleeting nature of Instagram’s new feature. Instagram Live Video will disappear after the stream ends, never to be seen again, but it’s only a matter of time before other applications pop up to solve that problem.

The company is hoping that by making the feeds temporary, users will be more inclined to stay on the app so they don’t miss out on a groundbreaking once-in-a-lifetime video. Users will be able to scroll through relevant “Top Live” videos under the “Explore” tab, but it remains to be seen how the new addition is utilized and how popular it becomes.

SoundCloud Reveals Helpful New Feature That It Should’ve Had Years Ago

This post was originally published on this site

Soundcloud has just added a brand new feature to its arsenal of listening tools, coming as one of the only updates to the popular streaming site in recent times that hasn’t brought with it a load of controversy.

By checking the right-hand column on the Soundcloud home page, users will now see a section called Listening history near the bottom. While on the home page, the previous three songs that were listened to will show up for quick access.

On the History tab itself, a complete list of the user’s listening history can be found neatly organized below a list of six sources that we believe are ones that the user listened to more than the others. An option is given to irreversibly clear one’s listening history, as well. The History tab, so far, is only available on browser.

We’re glad that Soundcloud decided to address a common request by its users and add the listening history feature. It seems like every day that a song we play is passed on too quickly and forgotten. With the new History feature, it’ll that much easier to locate and discover the tracks that we may have overlooked.

Spotify Joins Forces With… Tinder?

This post was originally published on this site

Spotify and Tinder have just announced a new partnership, which will allow users of the mobile dating app to select their personal “anthem” for their profile. Oh, how the glory days of Myspace songs have returned!

The new feature will not require a Spotify account to listen to profile anthems, however, users can choose to sync their Spotify accounts, allowing potential matches to see which artists and music they might share in common.

The update goes into effect today, and you can check out the video below to see it in action. However realistic the portrayal may be, we don’t recommend Tinder at work, and flash mob backup dancers aren’t guaranteed.

The Chainsmokers’ Andrew Taggart Reveals His Political Leanings Ahead of Election

This post was originally published on this site

In a recent Billboard interview with Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall of The Chainsmokers, a great deal of personal experiences and memories were revealed that had previously been withheld from the duo’s expansive base of fans. Alongside tales of their rise to stardom and lasting friendship, Taggart took advantage of the moment and let in on his personal political leanings in the wake of the quickly approaching presidential election.

He refers to Donald Trump in very straightforward terms, mentioning that he certainly will not be voting for him in November. Despite his favoring towards the Democratic side of things, he said that he still doesn’t believe Hillary Clinton to be the best candidate for the job.

What we believe he is implying is that despite his skepticism, he’ll be choosing Hillary over Trump. Read his brief quote below.

“I’m not saying she’s the best candidate of all time. I’m just saying this guy’s a f—ing idiot.”
