Wayne’s arrival comes immediately after the announcement that, due to a newly obtained foot injury, Childish Gambino needed to postpone the remaining dates on his This Is America tour until later in the year — effectively cancelling his top billing at the Texas festival. It is a timely arrival for Lil Wayne, as the rapper celebrates his 36th birthday with the release of his long-awaited Tha Carter V album drop on the same day.

Those planning to attend stops on the last leg of Childish Gambino‘s This Is America Tour will have to hold out just a bit longer to see the “Summertime Magic” producer live. Gambino has rescheduled the final few dates of the tour due to a foot injury, but fans need not fret, as the artist has already announced a slew of new dates to replace the rescheduled shows. All previously purchased “tickets will be honored for the newly scheduled dates,” according to Live Nation. The This Is America Tour will resume in December.
While the same injury will unfortunately prevent Gambino from performing at Texas’ annual Austin City Limits Music Festival, Gambino will nevertheless perform at NOLA’s Voodoo Music + Arts Experience in October. Live Nation’s official statement regarding the revised dates, and the complete list of new dates follows below:
“Childish Gambino has been forced to postpone his remaining “This Is America Tour” stops until later this year due to an injury. The rescheduled routing can be found below. Tickets will be honored for the newly scheduled dates. The Seattle show is canceled due to venue renovations and refunds for that date are available at point of purchase.
Childish Gambino’s appearance at the Voodoo Music + Arts Experience in New Orleans on October 27 is moving forward as planned. His appearance at Austin City Limits Music Festival is canceled. Justice will headline on both Saturdays (October 6 and 13) alongside Metallica, and Travis Scott will headline both Sundays (October 7 and 14) alongside Arctic Monkeys. Fans of Childish Gambino are in the midst of getting what the artist has said will be the project’s last and final tour — but there apparently could be new music coming down the pipe from the “Redbone” hitmaker. During a recent tour stop in New York’s Madison Square Garden, Gambino performed a massive unreleased track for the lucky audience. “This is some new shit I’ve been working on,” the artist told the crowd before launching into the soulful four-to-the-floor ID.
Despite Donald Glover‘s earlier promises to eventually retire the Childish Gambino project, there’s now another unreleased song to add to a growing stack of future heat that reportedly includes an entire joint album with Chance The Rapper. Until Glover decides to discontinue the venture, fans will no doubt be waiting to gobble up the latest and greatest from his musical alter ego.
