Dimitri Vegas, Like Mike, and Coone feature Lil Jon on the card of their hardstyle thrasher, “Madness 2.0,” an updated and upgraded version to their 2013 release off Dim Mak. The rapper turned DJ chart-topper was always graced with a voice synonymous with crunk; thrown together with the pride of Belgian hardstyle expresses nothing but energy and fervor for partying. The newer version shoots a higher-end synth for the leading melody than the original, showcasing a heavy contrast between the thumping 808s and protruding sub bass.
The video by Appartyment was taken of Coone’s performance at the main stage of Tomorrowland this year, among other festival clips. In the video, viewers are treated to the conversation that led to the remake. The original opened many doors for Coone five years ago, and since he’s now performing main stage at Tomorrowland, the remake is coming full circle.
Dimitri Thivaios (aka Dimitri Vegas) is joining the International Marvel Cinematic Universe. As one-half of the beloved Belgian DJ duo Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Thivaios is doing right by his superhero fan side in turning success into opportunity.
As one of the biggest dance music acts in the world, the duo has earned some creative involvement with the Disney-owned company in the past, including a limited edition clothing line with Spider-Man inspired designs (unfortunately, the sale only took place through the month of August 2018). “It is a great honor to be able to design and release this Spidey collection,” he said in a statement. “My 12-year old self would be proud!”
Thivaios will voice Peter Parker in the Dutch-dubbed version of Marvel’s upcoming animated film Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse. Laura Tesoro, Koen De Bouw, Alex Agnew, William Boeva, and Jenne Decleir are also set to join the cast that will bridge the language gap for the Netherlands.
The EP kicks off with “Unity,” a heavy collaboration with Hardwell. Festival synths and hardstyle rhythms take over, surprising listeners. Nicky Romero’s feature samples The Chemical Brothers‘ “Hey Boy, Hey Girl,” in another hardstyle heater. “Opa” with KSHMR takes advantage of Greek influences using Bouzouki sounds and electro-house rhythms.
“Arcade Mammoth” is as big and wide as the title suggests. Plucking synths that lead into trance synth melodies is exactly what listeners would expect from this collaboration between Dutch duo, W&W, and the No. 2 DJs on DJ Mag‘s Top 100 DJs list.
There are two Bassjackers alliances on the EP, “All I Need” and “The Jungle.” Both combine elements of trap, electro, and bass music using trap rhythms and eclectic synth whomps.
The project culminates with a calmer verse than previous tracks. Around the two-minute mark, listeners are met with that signature hardstyle fans know and love from Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike. Wiz Khalifa’s vocals add a cooling contrast from the bigger synth play.
