Captured Tracks to continue celebrating 10-year anniversary with (not-so-much-anymore) mystery releases, label sampler, and CT-X showcase tour

This post was originally published on this site

In case you were unaware, Captured Tracks — the Brooklyn imprint that gave the world Mac DeMarco, Wild Nothing, Beach Fossils, DIIV, and even a couple of bands that never played a show on Kent Avenue — is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.

In fact, the revelry has been going on for quite a while at this point, and it’s now time to reveal the label’s final surprises: the two “mystery releases” that Captured Tracks alluded to earlier this year are: a DIIV 7-inch (with covers of “Cow” by Sparklehorse and Sandy Alex G’s “Icehead”) and a repress of Minks’ By the Hedge, back by popular demand! Both will drop on Black Friday, November 23.

The label is also readying an action-packed, two-part sampler compilation, out on a regular Friday, October 26. Volume 1 will include some of the better-known hits from Captured Tracks’ catalog, as well as a bunch of never-before-released songs from Mac DeMarco, Soft Moon, and others. Volume 2 will focus on the artists from the roster who might’ve not gotten their proper due yet, as well as some of the label’s freshest signees.

Speaking of noobs: Lina Tullgren, Wax Chattels, and Drahla, all of whom joined the CT family within the last two years or so, will get together for a celebratory CT-X tour: “a showcase for some of the artists who are collectively poised to define Captured Tracks in the years to come.” Sounds like something you’d definitely not want to miss if you’re a fan of the bands’ 2021, 2023, and 2037 LPs. The three will be on road between October 18 and November 9, playing in a different order every night.

Mac-DeMarcoLast night was the Met Gala, the annual event where all of celebritykind shows up and competes to see who can wear the most ridiculous clothes. Launder – “Keep You Close” (Feat. Soko) Video

This post was originally published on this site

Somewhere at the intersection of ’90s lo-fi and shoegaze lies Launder’s new track “Keep You Close,” a fuzzy, retro-futuristic daydream that will probably make you think about unrequited love and other sad things outside of your control. But it’s the kind of bummer-in-a-good-way song that you’ll want to indulge in while you drive and stare … More »

I once got busted trying to steal a magazine from my hometown library. The 8/8/91 issue of Rolling Stone apparently had one of those sensors on the last page and it beeped from my backpack on the way out. I was gonna bring it back. I just wanted to take it home to read the … More »

DIIV’s Zachary Cole Smith Talks Addiction, Sobriety, & His Breakup With Sky Ferreira
