Germany’s largest electronic music festival Parookaville will be returning to Weeze for its sixth edition, and now the festival is releasing its first wave of 2020 headliners to get fans excited for the forthcoming event.
The festival attracted over 210,000 attendees in 2019, and in 2020 attendees can look forward to a completely new main stage design to enhance the festival’s experience. These headliners are the first of over 300 featured artists that will be announced for the event. Parookaville is set to take place from 17 July to 19 July 2020, and tickets can be purchased here.
In coincidence with its 20th anniversary, Anjunabeats has announced its winter destination festival: Anjunabeats elevations. The inaugural edition of elevations will feature five nights of music and winter sport activities, with trance and progressive curated by none other than the Anjuna label. The Above & Beyond-headed label previously held Anjunadeep presents: Explorations in Dhërmi, Albania this June. The deep house-focused event will also return in 2020.
Elevations’ lineup will feature 28 artists including Seven Lions, Mat Zo, Spencer Brown, Cosmic Gate, Dirty South, and more. In addition to enjoying the slopes, attendees have the opportunity to participate in other offerings such as bottomless brunch with Anjuna DJs, igloo parties with special guest sets, and yoga and wellness programs. More details regarding additional activities will be available in the coming months.
Anjunabeats elevations is set to take place March 28-April 3 in Avoriaz, France. Boasting the highest resort in the Franco-Swiss region of Portes du Soleil, Avoriaz is the largest connected ski area in the world.
Presale opens Monday, Nov. 4 here. Packages begin at £259 per person.
“The trick isn’t so much being lucky, but more recognising luck when it happens” suggests Nic Chagall. “Nic & I could have gotten talking in the reception area of that studio in 1999 and – looking back – might have just gone our separate ways, contemplates Bossi. “That’s not what happened though, is it?!” smiles
It’s most important day of the week: New Music Friday. With the overwhelming amount of tunes hitting the airwaves today, Dancing Astronaut has you covered with the latest edition of The Hot 25.
Kygo kicks off this week’s NMF with a dancefloor-ready posthumous Whitney Houston collaboration, “Higher Love,” and Wave Racer returns after more than two years with “Auto.” RL Grimes comes in swinging with an edit of G Jones’ “In Your Head,” and Habstrakt brings his forceful brand of house music to Gud Vibrations with “De La Street.” Chris Lake and Lee Foss team up for “Lies, Deception, and Fantasy,” and Diplo releases a set of remixes for Higher Ground, including a rework by Solardo. Claude VonStroke joins forces with ZDS and KE for “Comments,” and Malaa takes things up a notch with a feisty remix of DJ Snake’s “Savage.” Madeaux links with Dances With White Girls for “Club Demons,” and “Worlds Collide” on Nervo’s latest. Goldroom continues a slew of releases with “I Can Feel It” with Love, Alexa. ShockOne and The Bloody Beetroots take to Monstercat for their new single, “Run,” and Laidback Luke and Mark Bale dance into the weekend with “Party Starter.” Klingande and Stevie Appleton craft an easygoing single in “Sinner,” and Moguai remixes Oliver Heldens’ “Summer Lover.”
As each week brings a succession of new music from some of electronic music’s biggest artists, here’s a selection of tracks that shouldn’t be missed this NMF.
From tech to progressive, Claus Terhoeven and Stefan Bossems, better known to the world as Cosmic Gate, have done it all in the trance scene. Dominating clubs and festivals literally across the globe, Cosmic Gate have ridden every wave in the dance scene for 20 years and done it successfully – and on their own terms.
Hot on the heels of their massive announcement of their upcoming album and accompanying tour to celebrate 20 years together, Cosmic Gate has unleashed their 1st single of 2019 “Need To Feel Loved” featuring the vocals of Foret. Debuted earlier in the day on the duos own Wake Your Mind radio as well as on
In 2019 Cosmic Gate will mark a milestone: twenty successive years of music-making union. It’s a period that has given rise to dozens of club classics, genre-shaping hits & outright anthems, 50+ career remixes and 8 (soon to be 9) albums. Regularly reminded of this approaching moment by fans, Nic & Bossi looked at not a way
When Cosmic Gate takes their talents to Anjunabeats, you know that something special is in the works. Last time they graced the Anjuna label was last year with the speaker-shattering remix of Gabriel & Dresden’s ‘Only Road’, this time it’s collaborating with Anjuna monster Jason Ross on the progressive anthem ‘Awaken’. First debuted at ABGT 300 by
Gearing up for their performance at Montreal’s îleSoniq in August, German trance legends Cosmic Gate have unleashed a gorgeous hour-long Anjunabeats Worldwide mix.
Over the course of the mix’s 60 minutes, the duo take their listeners on a journey through some of their own hits, like their remixes of Gabriel & Dresden and Rank1, along with new Anjuna releases like Kyau & Albert‘s “Tube Hearts.” They also support fellow Germans like Melih Kor by opening their mix with his rendition of Three Drives’ “Greece 2000.” From start to finish, the mix is packed with serene progressive productions and dreamy trance tracks that demonstrate why these two have been considered some of the best in the dance music industry for nearly two decades.
Cosmic Gate will perform at the Canadian festival on Friday, Aug. 10. More information is available here.
A new insight into Nic Chagall and Bossi — known collectively as Cosmic Gate — has materialized.
“Materiameans ‘matter’. . . the substance . . . everything around us,” explains Chagall about Cosmic Gate’s latest album endeavor to a cameraman at the beginning of his group’s first ever documentary. It follows the duo across the globe in pursuit of finding deeper meaning musically, and the purveyance of the new message that they wish to spread to international audiences.
Polished cinematography and in-depth interviews expose a supergroup who, despite their stardom, remain more passionate and committed than ever to their craft and in creating a positive impact for their audiences. Their ultimate goal with Materia? To synthesize all of the elements, or “matter” of their past & present music into a modernized sonic story whose message points to the next step in the Cosmic Gate evolution.
Each track’s production, they state, is a product of intense writing and re-writing and collaboration with a selection of singers. These are then arranged carefully into album form, in which they use their “creative freedom” to branch out and fully embrace what they wish — be it softer shades of vocal trance, or rougher, more cavernous tunes for the main stage.
“We love DJing and the whole club scene . . . we love producing. It’s our world!” – Bossi
That said, Materia is distinctively Cosmic Gate; by encapsulating their aesthetic so concisely into this new project, in turn they hope to help push the musical envelope further into the future. We then see this taking effect in their sets as they tour through ADE, LA, London, and Tomorrowland performing their new music in narrative form. To their delight, emotions captured on their fans’ faces shows open acceptance for what they have to offer.
Materia – The Documentary will be available through all streaming platforms on June 8. In the meantime, Dancing Astronaut has the pleasure of debuting an advance stream of this stunning audiovisual tale.
