Charlotte de Witte’s techno takeover continues with launch of new label, KNTXTCharlotte De Witte Boda Gabor

It didn’t take long, but what began as one of Brussels’ best kept electronic secrets in Charlotte de Witte’s recurring techno parties has bloomed into a full-fledged brand. Now, the Belgian beat maven has announced the intuitive next move in establishing an impactful destination for her trademark sound, with the launch of her very own record label, KNTXT.

“A label has always felt like the logical and natural next step for KNTXT, both as a place to shine the light on the music that I love and as a home for my own productions,” said de Witte in a recent release. “In time, I hope the label will become a respected breeding ground and safe haven for unique talent, both new and established, as well as the main output for my own material.”

The label is expected to put out its first release in early September.

Aside from de Witte herself, the new label head has yet to announce additional artistry expected to appear on KNTXT; but if her party series and radio show, which share names with the label, are any indication, they’ll be ripe pickings from the cream of the techno crop.

Upcoming KNTXT parties across Europe include supporting sets from Chris Liebing, Ben Klock back to back with Marcel Dettmann, and IMOGEN.

Montréal is no stranger to icy Canadian winters, but that doesn’t stop the local troops from getting down in the snow. Returning for the 13th edition of the winter event series, Igloofest has announced their annual three-weekend takeover at the city’s Old Port, welcoming all as they embark on nine evenings of frosty festivities.

As the outdoor festival officially commences Jan 17 and comes to a close Feb 2, attendees have the ticketing capabilities to frequent one, or all nights of the multi-weekend frenzy. With previous years of success establishing Igloofest as one of the most prominent electronic events in Montréal, the 2019 edition continues to impress with a large-scale list of headliners, including the likes of Diplo, Above & Beyond, and Maceo Plex as notable billings for each respective weekend. Alongside the aforementioned acts, Igloofest boasts nights that bring out a double-dose of headliners such as longstanding techno masterminds Chris Liebing and Mind Against, and heavyweight trap heads RL Grime and Baauer over the course of two nights.

While some may shy away from the idea of an outdoor winter dance party, previous years have seen as many as 120,000 bundled-up attendees flock to the venue over a single season. Winter may not seem the preferred season for festivals, but Igloofest is here to disprove that narrow notion.

GA and VIP passes for Igloofest 2019 are available for purchase here.

The Berlin-based global event brand HYTE continues to solidify its standing as a global entertainment powerhouse. After establishing a weekly residency at the world-renowned Amnesia in Ibiza, they’ve now announced a special stage takeover at this year’s second annual Epizode festival.

Taking shape on the Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam from December 31 to January 10, HYTE is set to take over the tantalizing techno titan-filled lineup on the festival’s main stage. For three days of the festival — January 5, 7, and 9 — HYTE will present techno and house heavyweights like Loco Dice, Chris Liebing, Minus label boss Richie Hawtin, Berghain resident Marcel Dettmann, Pan-Pot and more. Nicole Moudaber, Peggy Gou, wAFF, Nic Fanciulli, Mathew Jonson, Yaya, Bambounou, and Roustam are among other impressive acts.

HYTE’s new editions round out the already amazing line up for Vietnam’s tranquil promising, which had previously included headliners such as Carl Cox, Dixon, Âme, Guti, Dubfire, and Luciano.

Surely, Epizode festival offers its attendees the opportunity for an immersive festival experience, but it’s brands like HYTE that help solidify curatorial attention to detail that will likely live on in the memories of techno and house aficionados alike for years to come.
