The 200 Best Songs Of The 2010s

This post was originally published on this site

When this decade began, MP3s still reigned supreme. Now, at the end of it, a song is no longer even a file — it’s ephemera, on every streaming service and available to hear in myriad ways. For better and worse, the song (and the single) have become the norm for the general public’s music consumption. More »

The 100 Best Albums Of The 2010s

The 100 Best Albums Of The 2010sA decade is an arbitrary measurement. They seem confined, these neat little symmetrical 10-year runs, but it’s only in hindsight that we define them, that their signifiers and trends and shorthand become codified. In reality, there are bleeds, the timbre and events of one chunk of time sliding over the border into another. If you’re … More »

Stef Chura – “Sweet Sweet Midnight” (Feat. Will Toledo)

This post was originally published on this site

Detroit indie rocker Stef Chura has her sophomore full-length, Midnight, coming in early June. So far, we’ve heard the album’s brash, sprightly tracks “Method Man” and “They’ll Never.” Today, the artist is sharing the third single, featuring Will Toledo of Car Seat Headrest. More »

Car Seat Headrest’s Leveled-Up Live Show Lays Waste To SXSW

This post was originally published on this site

Will ToledoBack in February, Car Seat Headrest were the meat in a Matador Records sandwich at Madison Square Garden. Performing after buzzy upstart Snail Mail and before gloomy veterans Interpol, Will Toledo led a seven-piece band through a triumphant set that reportedly blew away many in attendance. I wasn’t there, but my retroactive FOMO grew with … More »

Car Seat Headrest announce re-master of the album they just re-recorded, 2019 headlining tour dates

This post was originally published on this site

Car Seat Headrest put out a very good album this year. It’s called Twin Fantasy, the same title as the Bandcamp cult classic they released in 2011. If you’re unaware or don’t follow, the names are the same because the albums are the same… sort of. This year’s Twin Fantasy is the “Star Wars Special Edition, but good” of that year’s Twin Fantasy, properly re-imagined and re-recorded now that Car Seat Headrest has an actual production budget to work with.

But now, the album that was released and then re-recorded has now been re-mastered for a digital and vinyl release. A re-re-re-release, I guess, out in digital formats on November 2, and on vinyl on November 9.

Still following? To twist the mind even further, Car Seat Headrest have also announced 2019 headlining tour dates, which — get this: are the exact same as this year’s tour dates, only with added pyrotechnics and every member of the seven-piece live band playing double-necked guitars! Okay, just kidding (as far as I know), but the band really is going on a 2019 headlining tour. Starting on Valentine’s Day in Boston, the band will be trekking all the way down the East Coast, and then across the Gulf Coast into Texas, before concluding the tour on not-Valentine’s Day in San Antonio.

Check out all of Car Seat Headrest’s upcoming tour dates — including hometown shows in Seattle, and stops in Europe — below. The re-master of 2011’s Twin Fantasy (AKA Twin Fantasy (Mirror To Mirror) will be out digitally on November 2 and physically on November 9. The re-recording of that soon to be re-mastered and released again Twin Fantasy is out now on Matador Records. Get it here.
