If you’ve had your ear to the ground over the last few months, the jungle drums you’ve been hearing don’t lie! First contact came via the Giuseppe/Ruben de Ronde remixes of ‘On The Way You Go’, getting louder through the Markus Schulz/Craig Connelly rezoning of ‘Ozone’ in June. It’ll be of no surprise for you
As house music continues to permeate through 2018, Paul Oakenfold has delivered his exquisitely melodic dancefloor memento, “Only Us,” via Tiësto‘s Black Hole Recordings. Oakenfold fittingly debuted the track during his set for Moscow’s World Cup Fan Fest.
“Only Us” is dance pop done right. With help from fellow UK-native Little Nikki, whose magnetic vocals deliciously accent the track’s momentous, one-night-only theme – accompanied by lofty, atmospheric synth chords and walloping percussion.
Oakenfold, a three-time Grammy nominee, has been an integral figure in the worldwide trance and house arenas for decades, acquiring lucrative residencies all over the globe in dance music epicenters like Pacha of Ibiza, Ministry of Sound in London, and most instrumentally, Cream in Liverpool. Before his ascent to dance music’s short list, Oakenfold worked alongside hip-hop icons like the Beastie Boys and Run-D.M.C as an agent/manager in the ’80s, launching his Perfecto Fluoro imprint soon after.
Trance fans have their newest fixation thanks to Kaion and Sam Valar’s newest collaboration, “Windseeker.”
“Windseeker” is reminiscent of the old school trance produced by Armin Van Buuren with its pulsing chords, uplifting vibe, and mystical vocal accents. Valar sent DA an exclusive quote about the track, talking about the process leading up to perfecting the final product.
“Kaion and I are really pleased with how the track turned out. It took a few months to get it just right, but that’s what allowed us to create something with such driving energy. The original idea was to spark the listener’s emotions by juxtaposing classical elements in the break (like bells and strings) with huge chords in the drop… and I think it does just that. We’re excited to release it, and we can’t wait for what’s to come on Nanostate Music.”
While Valar is relatively new to the scene, Kaion has had a multitude of releases on labels such as Armada, Black Hole Recordings, and Ride Recordings among others. He has since started his own record label named Nanostate Music, which “Windseeker” is being released on.
The North Carolina producer has teamed up with duo darkDARK for “Daylight,” a nostalgic progressive house song that departs from the heavy techno vibes HEYZ offered on his Schedule 1 EP. Singer Genevieve Vincent’s captivating vocals help set the tone for the collaboration, slowly submerging the listener in a warm but slightly melancholic pool of dreamy synths.
This change of pace shows a different side of HEYZ, demonstrating his versatility as a producer.

Tiësto has been at the center of the EDM world since before there was EDM, as one of the world’s most prominent trance DJs. A question I have asked myself over and over again, where did a guy that has been such an inspiration and role model to the world’s most well-known DJ/Producers find his
Under his own name, Giuseppe Ottaviani has expanded beyond what he’d begun as part of Nu NRG into one of the most revered names in trance music. His raw, yet intricate brand of trance has brought him legions of fans as he continues to tour the world with his GO Live concept shows that further boost his reputation as an artist. More recently, his work with Solarstone as PureNRG has been lauded heavily by the trance community, with hits like “Secret Of The Sahara” and “Scarlett” earning heavy rotation with the duo’s peers.
Ottaviani now bears more good news: a new album is imminent. Titled ALMA, which translates from Spanish into “Soul,” his third artist record will feature personal pieces showcasing his multilayered production abilities. “ALMA is the result of a two year long journey, that’s taken place both in and out of the studio,” the Italian legend divulged. “Artistically it’s the natural next step in my career.”
While the full tracklist has yet to be revealed, thus far we know his recent singles “Musica” and “Doctor Who” will be included in the roster which the Italian legend notes is “100% new studio material.” “Slow Emotion” will also be making the cut, supporting his new approach to making an album that defies the status quo. Paul Van Dyk, Christian Burns, and Kyler England were also revealed to have played a role in the production process.
ALMA will be released through Black Hole Recordings on September 29.
“It won’t be simply ‘Magenta Pt. II’. With its variety, it’s going to bring several new perspectives to my music. I see myself as not ‘just’ a producer, but as a music lover and ‘ALMA’ is something that’s come from deep within my soul.”
