For as long as we can remember, it seems, our favorite Brit, Calvin Harris has been at the forefront of the Electronic Music scene. Moving seamlessly across genres, we have seen experimental sounds from Calvin that have continued to dominate soundwaves and top music charts across the globe. His recent works with Sam Smith, Dua
Longtime fans of Calvin Harris might recall that in addition to his penchant for creating irresistibly catchy EDM records, the Scotsman is also quite the crooner. Quite a few of his productions — including his smash hits, “Feel So Close,” and “Summer” — involve his garbled, yet in-tune lyrics. However, it’s been quite some time since we’ve heard Harris get behind the mic.
That’s all changed now, thanks to Benny Blanco’s new single “I Found You.” Blanco, a legend in his own right who’s produced records for everyone from Ed Sheeran to Cashmere Cat, coaxed Harris back into the studio to lend his vocals to the mix, and the result is a sunny house tune whose mellow piano chords and grooving bassline feel like the sonic equivalent of a sunny day. The collaboration is destined to land in the heads of the people it touches — and stay there.
Calvin Harris is without a doubt one of the biggest names in dance music today. While the commercial success of his last three albums has deeply outshined his first two albums, many fans will agree that some of their favorite records were released on I Created Disco and Ready For The Weekend. The next production to bear the “Benny Blanco” stamp will feature Calvin Harris as both artists recently announced in respective social media posts that announced the collaboration to come. Although neither Blanco nor Harris shared the name of the forthcoming track, the new jam is slated for an imminent November 2 release.
“I was always attracted to how much soul and musicality he brought to the table,” Blanco said in praise of Harris’s style.
The collaboration will expectedly tap into Harris’s distinctive ear for feel-good grooves. Already confirmed is the yet-to-be-named track’s impending use of Harris’s talents not only as a beat layer, but as a vocalist–-the “One Kiss” producer seldom sings, even on his own tunes. The song will follow Blanco’s well received Halsey and Khalid feature, “Eastside,” and Harris’s recent work with Normani on her latest two releases, “Checklist” and “Slow Down.”
The man behind many of our favorite songs over the years, Benny Blanco, springboarded his name to the top of charts with his first single “Eastside”. The track featured powerful vocals by Khalid and Halsey. Benny has made it known that he plans to continue releasing tracks under his own name. With “Eastside” taking over
Warm melodies and breezy percussion arrangements complement singalong-primed vocal work and an infectious hook that’s destined for near immediate air wave domination this spring. Cashmere Cat and company navigate their way through a relatively formulaic surefire hit without sounding like there are too many cooks in the kitchen.
Paired with a serene lyric video to accompany the release, Major Lazer, Tory Lanez, and Cashmere Cat find mass appeal harmony on “Miss You.”
