HARD Summer delivers mind-bending 2018 lineup loaded with special back-to-back performances

This post was originally published on this site

HARD Summer is pulling out all the stops for the upcoming edition of the festival, led by one of the event’s most memorable lineups to date. Slated for August 4 – 5, and returning to a familiar venue at Fontana’s Auto Club Speedway, HARD’s flagship event is sticking to their tried and true playbook of marquee dance and hip-hop match ups, laced together by the underground’s finest newcomer talents, dropping off a lineup of over 70 acts. Best of all, 2018 now is officially the year of the back-to-back.

Marshmello, Travis Scott, Louis The Child and Porter Robinson‘s Virtual Self project are all tapped for headlining duties, along with , Louis Vuitton’s newly-signed artistic director and moonlighting DJ Virgil Abloh, and Flosstradamus. In between massive headliners and top-card highlights that include Rick Ross, Slushii, Ekali, San Holo and more, the talent roster is littered with never-before-seen back-to-back performances that could honestly form their own insane lineup.

Diplo and Dillon Francis will share the stage for the first time, and Jauz will join Zeds Dead for a co-headlining slot, Snails and Kill The Noise are apparently allowed to perform together, despite how dangerous that sounds. Four Color Zack and DJ Craze are bringing their 2¢ project to HARD Summer as well as Escapade, Ardalan and Walker & Royce‘s Dirtybird mashup. Borgore and Getter are pairing for an unholy union, and Baauer and A-Trak are joining for another one of their rare tag-team bouts. And these are just the back-to-back sets.

Additional firepower from Mija, k?d, Tokimonsta, Madam X, Joyryde and many more round out one of HARD’s best bookings to date. And with the festival boasting added amenities, updated safety and comfort features, plus a hilarious trailer that pins Diplo as the “Dawson’s Creek looking motherf****r” he is, we’re looking at what could be the most over-the-top edition of HARD Summer yet.

A-Trak, Bauuer team up on new tracks, ‘Fern Gully’ & ‘Dumbo Drop’

This post was originally published on this site

Earlier this year, electronic heavyweights Baauer and A-Trak announced a short run of back-to-back performances slated for the fall. The pairing seemed too good to be limited to a tour so new music from the LuckyMe mainstay and Fool’s Gold head honcho had to be on the way.

Now, the two superstar producers have joined forces for the first time, dropping off two tracks ahead of their stage-sharing debut. With “Fern Gully” and “Dumbo Drop,” Baauer and A-Trak find the common ground between their respective production styles, proctoring two groovy club cuts that were designed to bring a little fun down to the dance floor.

Catchy, upbeat jungle inspirations flourish on “Fern Gully,” a set tool that’s perfect for beachside bonfire dance parties. Things pivot slightly on “Dumbo Drop,” roped together by off-kilter clinks and breaks. Free of explosive drops and pitched down sample work, Baauer and A-Trak deliver two quirky cuts that mesh both of their styles without taking themselves too seriously.

Good Morning Mix: Mikey Lion and Porkchop get the party started at Dirtybird Campout 2017

This post was originally published on this site

Somebody had to get the party started at this year’s Dirtybird Campout.

There are few better duos to kick off one of the best parties of the year than Mikey Lion and Porkchop delivering the Desert Hearts mantra of “house, techno, & love.” Currently taking their fervent parties far and wide, the globetrotting party brigade may have been split up with half the crew at Groove Cruise, they nonetheless threw down, and there’s finally proof.

Right in the middle of their City HeartsTake The Ride Tour,” it was really just as if Lee Reynolds and Marbs were right alongside them, as the synthesized set was a mean concoction.

Baauer and A-Trak confirm new music on the way, announce run of joint tour dates

This post was originally published on this site

Recently Baauer announced he’d be hitting the road with What So Not on a short run of joint co-headlining shows through the month of October. The news came as a pleasant surprise, with fans betting on new collaborative material likely coming out of the woodwork there. Now, the “Kung Fu” producer is following up on those road dates with another short run of co-branded shows, this time alongside Fool’s Gold Records head honcho, A-Trak. The duo have lined up a small batch of performances together, teasing the mini tour with the promise of highly-anticipated back-to-back DJ sets featuring both selectors sharing the decks.

Along with announcing shows in Arizona, Colorado, and New Orleans, the all-star pairing have also confirmed new music is in the works as well. A-Trak and Baauer are both artists who maintain steady outputs, but come in on the lighter end in terms of releasing extended play projects. A short joint tour is about to be exciting, but a short joint EP is what the world needs. We’ll have to wait and see what A-Trak and Baauer have up their sleeves.

Must Listen: hear Diplo, Jauz, & Alison Wonderland’s epic B2B from EDC 2017

This post was originally published on this site

Of all the FOMO-inducing sets to crop up on EDC‘s star studded lineup, one in particular seemed to be a once in a lifetime occurrence; tucked between sets from Above & Beyond and mainstage virgin Dillon Francis was a three way back to back with Alison Wonderland, Diplo, and Jauz.

Though those three come from seemingly disparate ends of the dance music spectrum, their set lived up to the impossible hype. Throughout their hour the producers cycled through VIP edits of their own hits alongside a fair crop of random throwback tracks from the past few decades like Akon’s “I Wanna Fuck You,” DJ Casper’s “Cha Cha Slide,” and even some classic Spice Girls.

Somehow, their triplicate effort yielded a eclectic but cohesive result, that was more purely fun than almost anything the weekend had to offer festival goers at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Watch Skrillex & Justin Martin Go B2B In Fiji

This post was originally published on this site

Skrillex has already left quite a mark on the Fiji paradise this past weekend when he helped an attendee propose to his girlfriend (now fiancée, she said yes!). But never one to half-ass things, Skrillex has been performing a lot during the festival, and he hopped on during Justin Martin’s set to perform a 70-minute b2b set (Doorly and Miguel Campbell also make appearances).

This is definitely a side of Skrillex that’s rarely seen, taking on a much more house-tempo rhythm to match with Martin’s infectious beats. Known to spin dubstep and harder styles of bass music more regularly, it’s cool to see him flex his mixing skills with another genre.

Watch The Chainsmokers crash Flosstradamus’ party resulting in a 12-DJ b2b set

This post was originally published on this site

Trap fans were in for a surprise earlier this week as Flosstradamus prepared to perform their second show for the night at Toronto’s intimate Hoxton nightclub. Admission was set at around $20, and headliners — in addition to Flosstradamus — included Slushii and Toronto-based artist Thugli. Little did guests know however that that was just the beginning.

After wrapping up their iHeartRadio concert at the Air Canada Centre, The Chainsmokers decided to swing by and throw down themselves along their colleagues. Shaun Frank, Grandtheft, Keys n Krates, and more followed suit, resulting in what quickly became a 12-DJ back-to-back performance and what is quite possibly the most extraordinary impromptu lineup the Bathurst Street venue has seen in its five years of operation.
