This year Imagine Festival, the bass heavy super festival in Atlanta Georgia, gave a full thumbs up to Trance. On Sunday they hosted their first fully dedicated day to the melodic uplifting genre via the Aeria stage. Although one of the smaller of the 5+ stages, the crowd showed up in massive support right from
The first three days of Tomorrowland 2018 are officially in the books. While there may be another packed weekend of brilliant, Belgian-based mayhem still in store, we took a look back at high points from weekend one of EDM’s most storied celebration. Whether it’s a two-hour euphoria trip with Above & Beyond at the Anjunabeats stage or a crawl through the techno trenches with Charlotte de Witte at the main stage, weekend one implores a revisit. See our top highlights from Tomorrowland’s opening weekend below.
Again demonstrating its ubiquitous presence as a worldwide festival phenomenon, Ultra has locked in a stellar, multifaceted-as-ever billing for its fifth anniversary of the global festival’s Japan installment, to take place over an extended weekend on September 15-17.
Topping phase one of the 2018 bill are high-rollers Nicky Romero, DJ Snake, Armin Van Buuren, and Zedd, as well as all three parties from Swedish House Mafia, though they appear as their separate, respective acts: Axwell Λ Ingrosso and Steve Angello. Having the Mafiosos in the same place at the same time begs the question of whether fans could witness a surprise performance from the storied threesome who reunited earlier this year at Ultra’s flagship location in Miami. The initial wave of talent also includes the likes of Oliver Heldens, Cash Cash, and Eats Everything among others.
The Tokyo-based festival will return to Odaiba Ultra Park. Tickets can be purchased here.
When it comes to top-tier electronic acts, Armin van Buuren has built his name on exquisite live performances. From playing in front of thousands of people during his Tomorrowland set, to closing out iconic venues like Omnia Nightclub, the venerated dance legend compels crowds with eclectic song selections, flawless transition maneuvering, and characteristically high energy. Now, after a decade, Armin van Buuren will return to another iconic stage, Mysteryland, revealing that he will give fans an exclusive festival finale performance to celebrate his reappearance as a live act.
In a statement discussing his 10-year break, he explained,
For me it’s great to be back at Mysteryland after such a long time. With the creative team from Mysteryland we have worked on a show that includes fireworks, lasers and other special effects.
Other highlights confirmed for the festival include Carl Cox, Nastia, Sven Väth, Kölsch and more. Mysteryland 2017 will conclude on August 27 with Armin’s exclusive closing show, and undoubtably, it will be one for the books.
