6 exciting activities to try at Holy Ship! WreckedRukes III 1

For the first time in its near decade-long tenure, Holy Ship! will not be at sea, taking the form of a new endeavour known as Holy Ship! Wrecked. For five days, Shipfam will inhabit the world-renowned Hard Rock Punta Cana resort in the Dominican Republic along with dozens of artists who understand exactly how to keep the Holy Ship! spirit alive on land.

Certain aspects of the event will, of course, be unavailable without the boat, but Cloud 9 and everyone else behind the scenes of Holy Ship! Wrecked are putting countless hours to ensure that there will still be an endless number of activities for attendees to enjoy when they’re not dancing to the tunes of their favorite DJs. Check out some of the cool activities planned for Holy Ship! Wrecked below.

1. Offsite Adventures

The announcement that Holy Ship! would no longer take place on a boat brought dismay to many Shipfam regulars. However, this continental relocation has also opened doors for a series of brand new activities that will take this luxury music festival to the next level.

Snorkelling, sunset catamaran sailings, ziplining, ATV rides through the jungle, and fishing trips are just some of the new offerings available to all attendees. Each allows you to fully explore the unlimited beauty of the Dominican Republic.

2. World Sumo Wrestling Federation

If there’s one thing people know about Valentino Khan and 12th Planet beyond their musical prowess, it’s their wacky antics. If the dance music scene were a high school, they would definitely be two of the class clowns which makes them the perfect choice to host the World Sumo Wrestling Federation. Learn the basics of sumo wrestling and perhaps catch one of the hosts rocking a shiny gold speedo. Do you have the guts to get in the ring?

3. OG Celebration

Just because Holy Ship! has a new name and a new venue, it doesn’t mean they’ve forgotten about their loyal Shipfam. Since the first Holy Ship! departed from Fort Lauderdale in 2012, those who have come back year after year received an exclusive invite to the OG party. It is here where fourth-timers receive their highly sought after blue robes in a champagne-filled ceremony before enjoying their revered status along with all those who share the title. This may be the first Holy Ship! Wrecked, but all those who have remained faithful to the Ship will be rewarded once again with all the amenities of the Punta Cana resort.

4. Gud Vibrations Super Smash Bros. Tournament

For those who aren’t aware, the latest iteration in the Super Smash Bros. franchise for Nintendo Switch includes every single character from every single past game as well as new ones who have just joined the roster. Pretty spectacular. Millennials grew up playing games like Super Smash Bros. and NGHTMRE and Slander are all Millenials, so they have seen fit to host a tournament during Holy Ship! Wrecked. It’s not quite clear just yet what the winner of this fist-flying tourney will receive, but one thing’s for sure: Shipfam and Super Smash Bros. together is a solid recipe for a good time.

5. ABC Party

Like most festivals, Holy Ship! is a hotspot of sartorial creativity. Halloween takes a backseat in comparison to the costumes you would see around the boat, and now Holy Ship! Wrecked is urging Shipfam to get even more creative with one of their theme nights: ABC Party.

In this case, ABC stands for “Anything But Clothes.” Being practically without a definition in the first place, it is almost impossible to conceive how Shipfam will interpret this term.

6. Lisbona Sisters’ Bikini Beach Clean Up

Being environmentally conscious and being sexy don’t have to be separate on Holy Ship! Wrecked thanks to the Lisbona Sisters. These two ladies are going to make this beach clean up a breeze on the shores of the Dominican Republic by asking everyone to flaunt what they got as they pick up any trash that they find. Big props to team Holy Ship! for encouraging sustainable activities throughout the event. If festivals are going to continue into 2020 and beyond, the producers and attendees both have to be aware of their environmental impact.

Holy Ship! Wrecked will take place at the Hard Rock Punta Cana Resort, January 22 to 26. Book your trip here

HOLY SHIP! shares huge lineup for upcoming landlocked edition, HOLY SHIP! WRECKEDRukes III

While HOLY SHIP! won’t be setting sail in 2020, it’ll sure still be getting down. The revered HARD Events maritime festival will anchor itself in the Dominican Republic’s Punta Cana next year, January 22-26 with a whole new name: HOLY SHIP! WRECKED.

Casting a wide and prominent net, HOLY SHIP! WRECKED has secured Diplo, Lane 8, Claude VonStroke, and Madeon to top its astounding 2020 roster, while Chris Lake, NGHTMRE & Slander, and Jai Wolf comprise what one could hardly call an undercard. Distinguished names from across the house and bass-abundant spectrum speckle the robust roster, from 12th Planet to TOKiMONSTA, Whethan to What So Not, the agenda seems to extend something irrefutable for every electronic taste preference. Up-and-coming contenders like Dom Dolla, Sonny Fodera, and ODESZA-championed MEMBA offer the lineup a fresh-faced appeal as well.

Not only is the lineup set to be one of the most in-depth throughout the HOLY SHIP! timeline, but the shift in format will offer #Shipfam an event that is both excitingly new and refreshingly familiar. Cloud 9 Adventures, the lead company behind the ship experience, has been producing events in concert with the Punta Cana resort for many years already and will bring that expertise to HOLY SHIP! WRECKED .

Just as on HOLY SHIP!, the resort will only be open to attendees throughout the festival. Seasoned Shipfam will still receive their robes as well as their OG party as fans and artists live together for a weekend in paradise:

We are shipfam for life, so we couldn’t miss out on this! – Gorgon City

Time to start the search for buried treasure. We be shipwrecked this year me maties! – Claude VonStroke

When it comes time for the artists to perform, there will be nine different areas for music spread throughout the resort. With the increased amount of space, the overall production will be at a much higher level and each area will maintain a specific sonic identity. From daily pool parties to a 1,000 person-capacity club to a sunrise set on the beach, artists will be spinning multiple sets in a variety of environments to satisfy the astute tastes of Shipfam.

Plus, the extensive amenities provided both on-site and in the immediate area will allow for a much broader range of artist involved activities which will be announced soon.

Attendees of HOLY SHIP! WRECKED will have 24-hour access to the resort’s private beach. Every room includes its own balcony, hot tub, free Wi-Fi, and is roughly three times the size of rooms on the boat. There are nine restaurants around the resort offering everything from sushi to pizza, and just like on ship, food and drinks (including alcohol) are all-inclusive.

In terms of recreation outside of music, there is mini-golf, a lazy river, a waterslide, and much more on property. For an extra charge, attendees can take their experience to the next level with a full 18-hole golf course, excursions on dune buggies and ATV’s, a 65,000 square-foot spa, scuba diving, and various other activities that only a world-class island resort can offer.

Pre-sale for HOLY SHIP! WRECKED starts next Monday, July 29, and tickets officially go on sale Wednesday, July 31 at 11 am PT, available here, along with general festival information.

12th Planet drops new single ‘Swamplex Terrestrial’ ahead of new EP and tour12th Planet

12th Planet is a true bass mainstay in the bass music realm, having dropped iconic tracks for nearly a decade now. Coming back with his third single of 2018, the Disciple Records artist has now released “Swamplex Terrestrial,” the title track of his forthcoming EP. It’s a classically destructive 12th Planet offering, with an intense build leading to a bass-heavy drop.

An eerie synth pervades the second half of “Swamplex Terrestrial,” while the song twists and turns through multiple layers of dubby basslines and off-kilter beaths. Already serving as the title of this track and his EP, 12th Planet has continued his “Swamplex” kick with a namesake radio show through Insomniac and also announced a forthcoming Swamplex tour. The stalwart has a busy few months ahead of him, with his EP arriving on November 23 and the subsequent tour beginning in January 2019.

Earlier this year, What So Not released his watershed debut album, Not All The Beautiful Things, featuring a number of supreme collaborators such as SkrillexSan HoloRome FortuneSLUMBERJACK, and more. Soon after, he kept the brilliance breathing, releasing a four-track remix pack with VolacKaz James, and ZEKE BEATS of the third single off the album, “Beautiful.”

Now, the Australian solo act has unleashed an 11-track remix compilation album with additional reworks from Kidswaste, 12th Planet, AC Slater, Daktyl, graves, as well as a wealth of up-and-coming producers in the electronic space. From bass music to melodic pop to house to psy-trance, this project profoundly reflects What So Not’s versatility since the project’s inception when Flume was in the picture.

The singles tapped for makeovers include “Goh” with Skrillex and KLP, “Stuck In Orbit” with BUOY, “If You Only Knew” with San Holo and Daniel Johns, and again “Beautiful” with  Winona Oak. Some of the highlights off the project include glittering guitar melodies on Kidwaste’s rendition of “Stuck In Orbit,” Champagne Drip‘s contrast between celestial and earth-rumbling grittiness on “Goh,” Yvng Jalapeño‘s jungle-infused “Beautiful,” and 12th Planet’s mellifluously heavy version of “If You Only Knew.”
