Virgil Abloh ordered to take time off due to health concernsVirgil Abloh Louis Vuitton Appointment

Louis Vuitton’s artistic director, OFF White founder and DJ, Virgil Abloh will be on a health-conscious hiatus for the next few months. Abloh told Vogue that he was temporarily “shifting gears” and slowing down per physician’s order. Abloh told the publication that he visited his doctor in August after he struggled to “bounce back” from an overseas trip. “I was just tired, so I went to the doctor. Ultimately everything is fine, but the doctor told me ‘this pace that you’ve sort of pushed your body—to fly all these miles, do all these different projects—is not good for your health,” says Abloh. One of the most in-demand creatives in the world, Abloh’s grueling itinerary is coming to a grinding halt following a packed summer schedule.

“Essentially I’m working from home for the next three months, and in large part [cancelling] all [of] my marketing events,” says the multi-faceted creator.

Abloh’s upcoming public appearances with IKEA and Nike will not come to fruition. He likewise will not participate in Vogue’s Forces of Fashion summit, the November opening of his Figures of Speech exhibition at Atlanta’s High Museum, or Off-White’s Paris Fashion Week show.

Abloh’s team reportedly told Business of Fashion that the reputed stylist is “designing the Off-White show in Paris to replace his attendance with a creative new approach that will include crowd participation.”

A$AP Rocky remains incarcerated in Sweden following an alleged physical altercation in late June, and while the entire country continues to lose clout points by the day, the public’s call for Rocky’s freedom continues to grow louder. In fact, Congress, and even the White House, have reportedly gotten involved. Amid the continually unfolding situation in Sweden, Swedish House Mafia threw their support behind the Harlem rapper, revealing a collaboration tentatively titled “Frankenstein.”

Now, fellow fashion and culture figurehead Virgil Abloh has offered up a proper preview of the new track at Germany’s Melt Festival, where Rocky was also billed to perform this summer. As the Off-White founder queues up the track, Abloh tells fans, “With this we’re gonna get Rocky home right quick,” before going on to instruct the festival crown to, “Pull out your phone, record this one, this a very rare one.” See the preview of Swedish House Mafia and A$AP Rocky’s “Frankenstein” below.

Virgil Abloh adds jazzy touch to The Martinez Brothers & Tiga’s ‘Blessed’

Virgil Abloh‘s latest creative endeavor is a remake of The Martinez Brothers and Tiga’s 2018 hit, “Blessed.” He’s transformed it into a future jazz number with lo-fi overtones, replacing “Blessed’s” gritter electro elements and 4/4 rhythm with breaks and loungey instrumentals. The mellowed take stands as a complementary counterpart to the original and speaks to Abloh’s aesthetic behind the decks. It comes out on May 31 via Turbo, with an additional remix to their other collaboration, “Cleopatra,” by Ricardo Villalobos.

Outside the studio, Abloh also paired with Pioneer DJ to design custom, translucent versions of the CDJ-2000NXS2 and DJM-900NXS2. The machinery will be shown at the Chicago MoMA throughout the summer season.

Virgil Abloh collaborates with Pioneer DJ to produce translucent CDJs and mixerVirgil Pioneer DJ

Virgil Abloh has translated his conceptual expertise as the menswear artistic director of Louis Vuitton and the CEO of Milan-based Off-White to his new collaborative hardware design with Pioneer DJ. Abloh partnered with the venerated hardware brand to produce transparent, unlabeled models of the Japanese manufacturer’s CDJ-2000NXS2 and DJM-900NXS2, which will be shown in an exhibition at The Museum Of Contemporary Art Chicago. Entitled “Virgil Abloh: Figures Of Speech,” the exhibition will display the newly minted models from June 10 – September 22.

“I aimed to design a see-through and non-labeled rendition of the classic models to inspire a different sound while DJing–and perhaps a new way for music technology and human interaction to equal a different result,” Abloh said of his creative vision for the Pioneer pieces.

Abloh is also rumored to have worked on a translucent mixer for Pioneer, according to Benji B and Gilles Peterson, who both published posts about the clear model on social media. For now, the CDJ-2000NXS2 and DJM-900NXS2 are the sole two products to debut from Abloh and Pioneer’s artistic interplay.

Check out these top notch sets from Circoloco’s Halloween warehouse party lineup

Check out these top notch sets from Circoloco’s Halloween warehouse party lineupCircoloco Halloween

While the vast number of halloween parties drawing top tier talent all around America, the anticipation may be at its highest in New York City. However, of all the wild yet intimate club shows and raucous warehouse performances in store for this weekend, it’s possible that the hottest night out this weekend may be Circoloco‘s Halloween warehouse show. With their killer lineup of Peggy Gou, The Martinez Brothers, Virgil Abloh, and Blond:ish all throwing down in a warehouse at the historic Brooklyn Navy Yard (pictured below), the Teksupport hosted event is slated to be a special one.

Check out these top notch sets from Circoloco’s Halloween warehouse party lineup44501757 2313957658645264 5182383083533369344 O

In preparation for the event, we’ve compiled some of the best sets from the Ibiza party legends’ New York lineup.

The Martinez Brothers b2b Loco Dice b2b Seth Troxler @ Printworks London

This stunning set is impressive for a multitude of reasons. Firstly, it’s not often that so much techno talent comes together in one location – and what a location it was. In the disused printing press facility that is Printworks London, the DJs put on over six hours of entrancing house, techno, and everything in between. If The Martinez Brothers can channel a similar energy this weekend, Brooklyn is in for a treat.

Peggy Gou x Boiler Room @ Dekmantel 2017

Peggy Gou has seen a rapid ascent in the world of house and techno over the past couple of years, and one can only think that it has something to do with her live sets. Touching on acid, disco, jazzy house, and more, Gou flexes her mixing prowess at the Boiler Room stage at Amsterdam’s Dekmantel Festival. Filmed in the classic Boiler Room style, it’s easy to see how good of a show the DJ puts on from the fans behind her alone.

Virgil Abloh b2b TaEast @ Boiler Room Weekender

Another Boiler Room veteran, Kanye West’s creative director and one of Time’s most influental people of 2018 always keeps fans guessing with his sets. From underground trap music and Kanye tracks to acid and techno beats, expect a diverse selection from this cultural magnate this weekend.

Blond:ish @ Untold Festival Romania

If this set is any indication, Blond:ish will be providing a more textured sound than her lineup counterparts. Bringing the sounds of the underground to Untold Festival’s beautiful Romanian forest location, grooving basslines and an atmospheric vibe lead to a calming yet engaging set. Hopefully bringing similar energy to Brooklyn Navy Yard, Blond:ish is an underrated act to look out for this weekend.

Boys Noize announces fall 2018 North American tourBoys Noize Shane Lopes 2

Damn it’s a good time to be a Boys Noize fan.

Recently, the Berlin-based producer collaborated with creative auteur Virgil Abloh, for Abloh’s first ever music release. The resulting Orvnge EP was a poised take on the suspenseful, minimal techno that’s long set Boys Noize apart. On top of his collaboration with the creative comrade, Boys Noize has also worked with A$AP Rocky on the rapper’s recent Testing album. It’s since been rumored he’s also in the studio with Lady Gaga and worked with 03 Greedo. Plus with Skrillex‘s relatively quiet year, many are betting on possible new Dog Blood in 2019 as well. Now, the BNR helmer has announced that he’ll officially be bringing his Strictly Raw techno to 13 cities in the US.

From Los Angeles, New York, and onward, the North American jaunt promises to bring Alex Ridha’s revered and Strictly Raw take on pummeling techno to a number of major markets as 2018 draws to a close. See Boys Noize full itinerary below.

From its very first lineup announce, Morocco’s Oasis Festival promised to be the ultimate who’s who booking of electronic dance music, and the festival has yet to disappoint. There’s now less than a month between when its artists will embrace the surreal Atlas mountains backdrop, and still, Oasis continues to impress.

The festival’s just announced two more special guests for its September 14-16 descent — the South African doyen Black Coffee and versatile creative tour-de-force, Virgil Abloh.

With an impressive lineup that already boasts Avalon Emerson, Ben Klock, Carl Cox, DJ Koze, Hot Since 82, Honey Dijon, Jessy Lanza, Mount Kimbie, Sasha, Peggy Gou, and The Black Madonna, not to mention a truly authentic cultural experience, Oasis has become the single most impressive boutique festival of the summer.

After conquering the fashion world via his Off White label and at the helm of Louis Vuitton’s menswear line, Virgil Abloh is one of dance music’s most talked about talents in 2018. He just dropped a sweltering mix which spans from everything to DJ Koze and Drizzy Drake in just one hour.Black Coffee, on the other hand, has earned praise from the US’ hottest artists including Drake and Rihanna, to name a few. He wants to nuture his South African community and give rise to unique musical talent across the world — which is a certainly an endeavor that we can always get behind.

While Virgil Abloh has been the artistic director of Louis Vuitton’s men’s collection since March of this year, he blesses the people with some fine tunes for the summer. The fashion designer recently unleashed an hour-long DJ mix including everyone from DJ Koze and Pearson Sound to Cardi B and Drake.

The exclusive Solid Steel Radio Show mix was filmed in London. Abloh states, “Deejaying in London is always a great time because I like to create a contemporary dialogue with the audience but also root it in vast history of the many sub-genres that makes London super unique.”His first taste in music includes producing on Boys Noize‘s recent collaborative three-track EP titled Orvnge.

Virgil Abloh to make Beats 1 radio debut with new ‘Televised Radio’ channel

From runways to radio airwaves, Louis Vuitton’s Artistic Director has a new design in mind.

On June 18, Virgil Abloh will host the introductory episode of his very own Beats 1 radio show on Apple Music from Louis Vuitton’s atelier in Paris. Entitled “Televised Radio,” the channel will act as an “audio mood board,” fusing new releases with time honored classics, while peppering musical selections with surprise guests who will join Abloh to discuss not only music, but art, design, and fashion.

“Music has an amazing ability to bring people together, and I couldn’t think of a better format to catalog all the multidisciplinary work I do under one umbrella,” Abloh said of the venture. “I’m using the two hours every so often to discuss various design projects and the rationale around them . . . in an effort to highlight my friends that make up my creative world. Apple’s design legacy and consideration of fostering art and design made it a perfect partnership.”

Those interested can tune in at 10 AM PST to catch Abloh’s inaugural episode.
