SG Lewis releases fervent ‘Dark’ EPSG Lewis 2 E1542386043204

SG Lewis has released the second piece of his compelling three-part project. This middle section comes in the form of a five-track EP entitled Dark, following the release of Dusk earlier this year. Following this release, Dawn will follow, completing the trilogy in its homage to the conception, rise, peak and fall of a night out in youth club culture.

Evolving from Dusk‘s notes of disco, electronica and funk, the overall feel of Dark is notably heavier, with nods to an array of underground house genres. Deep house, bass, and progressive come in to play throughout a tracklisting filled with notable contemporaries, including the EP’s last single, “Again,” with Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs to create a euphoric slice of deep-house. The various moods of Dark include appearances from THEY.London Grammar‘s Dot Major, AlunaGeorge, and singer/songwriter Bruno Major.

Dark has also been released with a video component — an eponymous short film viewers can watch here. Together, this project is shaping up to be a statement for SG Lewis as an artist with depth and complexity and as a forward-thinking creator.

SG Lewis continues to complement his releases with live shows, now moving on from North America and starting a European tour in November.

Seismic Dance Event is a new festival hosted by local Austin, Texas promoter RealMusic Events. Known for their house-oriented electronic lineups, Seismic Dance Event seems to the pinnacle of their love for hard beats and dirty grooves.

The lineup features house music heavyweights and newcomers, with big name talent like Anna Lunoe, Green Velvet, and Duke Dumont alongside some smaller, but still reputable names such as Amtrac, Hotel Garuda, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, and more. Hosted at the scenic Carson Creek Ranch in Austin, this lineup and location pairing makes Seismic Dance Event one of fall’s most intriguing festivals.

Rejoice! Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs is back after three-year hiatus with ‘Leave a Light On’

It has been three long years since we’ve heard from Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs. The British beatsmith, born Orlando Higginbottom, last delivered a collaboration alongside Boys Noize in 2015, and since then, has applied most of his focus on writing and producing his sophomore longplay. Now, in celebration of his birthday, TEED has surfaced without any notice to drop off a new original piece, “Leave a Light On,” that shows off the multi-faceted veteran still very much in top form.

Spontaneously dropping off the new tune free of any label red tape or release strategy, the “Feels Like” producer’s latest offering is a melodic downtempo product anchored down by vibrant instrumentation and his characteristically airy vocal work. Of the surprising new release, TEED explains,

It essentially picks up right where Higginbottom left off, and hopefully the new track signals to an impending release sooner rather than later. For now, we can all just celebrate Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs’ birthday with the gift of new music.
