First Listen: Pirupa – We Must Be (The Piano Track) feat. Mr. VPirupa We Must Be

Pirupa knows his way around a class record. For well over a decade, the producer has output cuts of the deeper variety that stimulate his audiences while catching the attention of labels like Drumcode, Suara, Get Physical, and beyond. He continues his legacy of choice releases with a return to the hallowed Crosstown Rebels, where he’s joined forces with Mr. V for an infectious piano piece, “We Must Be.”

The tune follows the oft-playful aesthetic of its label home, winding through paths of nostalgia via piano stabs and Mr. V’s encouraging vocals on unity. It combines its cheery atmosphere with driving undertones, set at a grooving BPM and pushed forward with glittery shakes of percussion that Pirupa has become somewhat known for. “We Must Be” is a veritable spot of sunshine, coming to listeners at a perfect time to reminisce on the summer season, and to provide warmth as fall and winter kick in. The composition is also paired with a vocal-less dub mix that feels a little more geared toward the afterhours.

The Claptone remix pack for Fantast track, “Stronger,” follows the titular suit of Claptone’s debut album in that it too is a bonafide “Charmer.”

The Stronger (Remixes) bring three fresh new takes on the Ben Duffy assisted single, delivered by Tensnake, David Penn, and Pirupa, respectively. Tensnake harnesses low pitched bliss in his tonally darker spin, while David Penn aims for an increasingly vocal-centric and rhythmically emphatic house construction in his dance worthy rework. Pirupa rounds out the remixes with pronounced percussive additions.
