Axwell unveils spooky remix of Halsey’s ‘Graveyard’Awell Ultra Europe 2018 Rukes

Axwell has brought his fans an extra treat for Halloween festivities, remixing Halsey‘s recent hit single “Graveyard.” The original track is the New Jersey-born artists’ 15th career Hot 100-charting release, having already topped 100 million streams after a mid-September 2019 release.

Now, the Swedish House Mafia & Axwell / Ingrosso member has given the track a rework that will not only push its success, but also help celebrate the spookiest day of the year. While the “Graveyard” title is relevant to the day, Axwell’s edit is dark and spooky in its own right. The famed producer pitches the original vocal way down, layering the sample over a rapid tempo with off-beat electronics and distorted synths on the drop. Expect to hear this one at any Halloween warehouse endeavor.

Halsey’s upcoming album Manic is set for a January 17, 2020 release, with her having recently performed “Graveyard” single on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. For Axwell, this is the second official remix since debuting his first in over half a decade for Martin Solveig and Jax Jones. His Swedish House Mafia crew also hinted at a US tour back in August, so stay tuned for more news on their return.

David Guetta and Martin Solveig link up for sultry new club tune, ‘Thing For You’DAVID GUETTA 7 ALBUM

David Guetta and Martin Solveig have helped to define modern electronic music thanks to their long history of pushing the boundaries of the sound, making it palatable to the masses, and releasing a steady stream of music that has helped their collective niche in the dance realm thrive as a whole. The artists have now teamed up for a UK house-inspired track, “Thing For You,” which is surprisingly their first collaboration.

“Thing For You” is mellow compared to what many fans of both artists would likely expect from the duo. Sultry vocals captivate from the outset of the song with soft builds and melodies embedded in a house framework. The collaboration is out on FFRR to celebrate 30 years in global dance music for the label. FFRR will be offering future singles from its archives to celebrate the anniversary, so keep watch for additional heavy-hitting releases in honor of thirty years.

It’s a rare occurrence when Axwell presents original music, let alone an official remix but when those moments do arrive, they should not be taken for granted. While the Swedish House Mafia member has undoubtedly shifted his priorities towards the supergroup’s reunion efforts, he has still managed to find some alone time in the studio. For the first time since his notorious progressive rework of Hook N Sling’s “Tokyo By Night” in 2014 (excluding any “cuts” or “remodes”), the phrase “Axwell remix” has re-entered the conversation.

Earlier this year, Martin Solveig and Jax Jones announced the formation of new duo project, Europa, and debuted their inaugural joint single “All Day and All Night” alongside songstress Madison Beer. The Axtone boss has now delivered a spin capped by a heavier club essence than the original cut, as Axwell stretches his streak of more conventional house-leaning productions. With Swedish House Mafia slated to appear at Tinderbox Festival this weekend in Denmark, the remix would serve as a welcomed pivot from the trio’s setlist of classics.

Martin Solveig faces backlash after misogynistic remark to first female winner of the Ballon d’Or Soccer award

Martin Solveig faces backlash after misogynistic remark to first female winner of the Ballon d’Or Soccer awardMartin Solveig Ada Seism

Sexism strikes again, and unfortunately veteran French DJ Martin Solveig is behind the offense this time around. Recently, the annual award presented by France Football titled the Ballon d’Or, was bestowed to 23-year-old Ada Stolsmo Hegerberg, who is the first woman to have won the award. The Norwegian soccer player is regarded as one of the best female footballers in the world. She has also previously won BBC’s Best Women’s Footballer of the Year in 2017 and Norwegian Sports Person of the year in 2016.

Martin Solveig was in attendance at the award show, and after Hegerberg won, his next question, for whatever reason, was whether the soccer player knew how to twerk. Twitter user @InsafOo captured the moment perfectly, and it has since gone viral.

Solveig has been quick to respond to the public backlash to his question, stating the award’s recipient knew Solveig’s comment was made in jest. The clip of her reaction seems to say otherwise.

In response to the continued growing backlash, the producer tweeted again.

As a result of the incident continuing to claim the spotlight, Solveig has released an official statement that gives added context to his commentary, showcasing the question did not come from a bad place. Regardless of his original intentions, Martin Solveig’s choice of words and timing seem impeccably bad, and it has resulted in deserved social heat for seemingly ruining Hegerberg’s moment of honor.

Dillon Francis turns Martin Solveig’s ‘My Love’ into tropical heat

Dillon Francis turns Martin Solveig’s ‘My Love’ into tropical heatDillon Francis Martin Solveig My Love Remi

Dillon Francis‘ mind is a wild, unpredictable one when it comes to deciding what music to put on display with his fans. One minute he’s infiltrating playlists with sugary electro pop, while the next he’s demolishing dance floors with speaker-rattling trap. That chameleon mentality has served the producer well for years, keeping both Francis and his fans inspired and on their toes. The “Get Low” hitmaker is at it again with a brand new remix for Martin Solveig‘s “My Love,” injecting signature Dillon Francis verve into the original’s breezy house stylings.

Beginning in an expanse of tranced out pads, it’s easy to assume the remix is headed in a darker direction – that is, until the track bursts out of its shell at 45-second mark, as Francis takes the melody up a notch with full on steel drums. The atmosphere instantly turns balmy, the added tropical flair meshing perfectly with the producer’s electro house sensibilities. Dillon Francis has given a helping of Moombahton heaters to feast on with his WUT WUT Sampler EP, but it’s always a treat getting those unexpected left field cuts from the IDGAFOS boss man.
