Las Vegas nightlife hub, Hakkasan, has a proven knack for pairing top EDM talent with the most in-demand hip-hop acts in the game right now, but they’re one-upping themselves with their latest booking. Dim Mak kingpin Steve Aoki is primed to take over the club on November 15 with one of rap’s most sought-after performers of the moment, Lil Uzi Vert, for the duo’s first ever co-headlining performance. While Uzi and Aoki have yet to officially collaborate, a shared stage in Las Vegas this month could give way to a studio link sometime down the line.

Lil Uzi Vert and Steve Aoki’s shared headline performance comes amid a packed month of entertainment on the Las Vegas strip. Heavy hitters like NGHTMRE, Kaskade, Tiësto, and Matoma are all also slated to perform at Hakkasan and the club’s affiliated properties across the month of November. Find Hakkasan’s full November lineup below.

Lil Uzi Vert, Illenium, SNAILS among final additions to BUKU 2018 line-up

This post was originally published on this site

BUKU Music + Art Project has just announced the final lineup additions for their seventh annual festival, held March 9–10, 2018 at Mardi Gras World in downtown New Orleans. Set across five unique stages, including the backdrop of an abandoned early 20th Century power plant and a warehouse featuring the city’s iconic Mardi Gras floats, the urban two-day event fuses hip-hop and electronic acts into a forward-thinking and diverse musical lineup, along with live street art, custom-made industrial graffiti installations, and dozens of surprise “pop-up” performances.

Joining 2018 headliners BassnectarMGMT, SZA, and Virtual Self on this final phase roster is chart-topping Philly rapper Lil Uzi Vert, and melodic maestro Illenium, who’ll be bringing his full “Awake” production for a special live show. Other support on the phase three bill includes “vomit-step” pioneer Snails, Florida rapper Ski Mask The Slump God, Chicago rapper Noname, Dirtybird house duo Walker & Royce, and exclusive VIP b2b performances from Eprom and Mad Zach. Also big on spotlighting local NOLA talent, Buku will showcase curated by acclaimed local artist collective Pink Room Project.

Tier four tickets are on sale now, starting at $190 for GA and $275 for VIP. More information on ticketing is available here. Buku Music + Art Project is an 18+ event.

Premiere: Lil Uzi Vert – The Way Life Goes (Madnap Cover Version)

This post was originally published on this site

Chicago-native Madnap‘s story begins with his founding of a creative collective — the Paper Crane — two years ago. In turn, the artist created a full-on network of producers, vocalists, and graphic designers. Through this collective, the artist showcased the up-and-coming talent of SoundCloud in an inclusive art-based community, and even himself made time for producing.

Earlier this fall, Madnap served up two atmospheric originals that serve as the perfect showcase of his downtempo M.O. The two tracks, “Disappear” and “Honey,” capitalize on his dulcet production style, as each tune harps on both delicate vocals and tantalizing synth-work.

In his latest stunning endeavor, Madnap’s taken on a tune outside of his typical sonic breadth. Nonetheless, the producer’s given Lil Uzi Vert‘s “The Way Life Goes” a smooth cover. The new version is far more downtempo, and impressively features the vocals of Madnap himself.

Madnap is currently on tour with Phantoms, and with each further production from the artist, it becomes more clear there’s nowhere for him to go but up.

Launchpad: Future sounds for fall

This post was originally published on this site

Launchpad is a playlist series showcasing music we love, hand selected by our staff. The tracks come from both emerging and mainstream artists; it’s all about the quality and the unexpected. If you’d like your music featured in Launchpad, submit it for consideration here.

Well, it’s officially Fall. School has started, football is back, and it’s starting to get just a little bit colder. Which is why we have the latest Launchpad playlist, full of tracks to keep you dancing and your spirits high. Turn this one up at a pregame, a tailgate, or at the gym — it’s full of high energy Future Bass, Trap, and Electronic tracks perfect to get you hyped up.

DA Launchpad Selects:
We all know that Lil Uzi Vert has taken the rap game by storm. In fact, some would argue he’s taken on the Rock game as well. With the help of Luca Lush, he might be verging on the dance and electronic game as well. Keeping the singular vocals of Uzi’s original “XO Tour Life” largely intact, Luca adds a layer of heavy trap and bass, which complements Uzi’s verses surprisingly well. Wait for the drop on this one…

This one has more of a summer vibe to it, but we couldn’t resist any song that successfully samples The Police. Sting’s vocals are complemented with a pitched up, unrecognizable vocal sample that really brings FOUNDRS “Every Step” remake into 2017 and beyond. There’s a little bit of everything here: electronic synth melodies, vocal chop samples, and a catchy-as-hell drum pattern. Vibe to this.

Tracklist:
Lil Uzi Vert – “XO Tour Life (Luca Lush Lift)”
FOUNDRS – “Every Step”
flor – “warm blood (messyhair remix)”
Elephante – “Plans (Krayon Remix)”
Mako & Rat City – “Run For Your Life (ft. Natalola)”
Naomi August – “Universe”
Machinedrum – “U Betta”
TenYearsGone – “Take Me Home”
Dreweybear – “Follow You (ft. GRAYE)”
Jetlag Girl – “Here We Are”
VALNTN – “Inside Out (ft. NALIYA)”

Jauz releases Skepta remix, surprise collab with Slushii and Crankdat

This post was originally published on this site

Jauz has taken both land and sea by force this week, releasing a series of originals and remixes to celebrate Shark Week.

Earlier in the week, he released a dramatic remix of Lil Uzi Vert‘s “XO TOUR LIF3” and followed it up with a massive remix of a Skrillex and Chase & Status VIP.

If that wasn’t enough to set the boat rocking, the producer has also released a remix of grime rapper Skepta‘s “Man” and a new, vocal version of his recent collaboration with Crankdat featuring a surprise appearance from Slushii.

The Skepta remix is a wonderfully unexpected step for the bass producer into the world of grime. Its high-BPM, grungy vibes and unusual beat signatures sent Jauz fans into a tizzy over this new sound from the producer.

The collaboration with Crankdat and Slushii hit the internet just hours after the Skepta remix. It could not be more different from the former.  Jauz and Crankdat’s “I Hold Still” was initially released without a vocal due to legal issues clearing the track, but they’ve re-released the track with Slushii’s vocals layered over top of the adventurous electro beat.

Lil Uzi Vert – XO TOUR Llife3 (Jauz Remix)

This post was originally published on this site

In honor of Shark Week, Jauz has gifted fans with a dramatic remix of Lil Uzi Vert‘s “XO TOUR LIF3.” The Los Angeles superstar producer has put his signature spin on the original, incorporating fluttery synths, a prominent melody, and a rugged bass line. His take on Lil Uzi Vert’s adds another dimension to the hit track with its clean production quality and intriguing layers so seemingly effortlessly placed together creating a round, full sound.

Jauz has been destroying the production and performance game with an incredible set at Tomorrowland last weekend as well as a killer, long awaited track with Crankdat titled, “I Hold Still.” The producer continues to surprise us with each release and it’s rumored that Jauz has tons of unreleased music on the horizon. Dropping his Lil Uzi Vert remix of “XO TOUR Llife3” is another testament to the producer’s artistry, pumping us up for the madness to come.

Brasstracks cover Lil Uzi Vert’s ‘XO TOUR Llif3’

This post was originally published on this site

One of the best things about the current trajectory of innovative electronic music is the emphasis on the live performances.

Artists are busting out instruments to accompany their laptops and CDJs. At the forefront of this movement are musicians like Brasstracks, who have taken on the task of creating gargantuan funk anthems out of unexpected tracks.

The duo, comprised of Brooklyn-based Ivan Jackson and Conor Rayne, has been making waves working with artists like Norwegian producer Lido and trombone player Alexander Lewis. Perhaps their biggest accomplishment to date is the Grammy they won for their production on Chance the Rapper‘s “No Problem.”

It’s no surprise that each time they release an original track, cover or remix, the internet is set abuzz.

Their latest work, a cover of Lil Uzi Vert’s “XO TOUR Llif3,” is impeccably produced. They’ve flipped the hip-hop/rap song into a massive Brasstracks’ anthem, boasting clean-cut horn riffs and stabs, with an accompanying catchy drum line.

In an interview with The Fader, the duo said they’re always looking for new popular songs they can flip with some horns and drums.

“This one was perfect,” Brasstracks opined. “The melody is clever but the beat goes HARD.”

DJ Mustard unveils eclectic, genre-bending EP ‘Don’t Box Me In’ ft Childish Gambino and more

This post was originally published on this site

Veteran hip hop producer DJ Mustard has released an eclectic three track remix package that highlights the versatile artist’s dance music chops. Released via the artist’s SoundCloud page,  Don’t Box Me In features a handful of killer remixes featuring Childish Gambino, Lil Uzi Vert, and Khalid.

While the Los Angeles based producer has racked up no shortage of accolades for his production work, Don’t Box Me In shows him leaning into the “dance music sounds,” expertly weaving together the threads of disparate elements from future bass synth saws to Jersey Club influenced time signatures. In all, it’s an immensely exciting, genre-bending effort from a producer who deserves all the breathless coverage he’s sure to receive.
