KSHMR – House of Cards

KSHMR

KSHMR is expanding his sound in a more mellowed, yet equally attention-grabbing way. The former Cataracs member has paired with vocalist Sidnie Tipton for a dynamic, pop-infused number titled “House Of Cards.”

Similar to the famed Radiohead song of the same name, “House Of Cards” works a subdued romantic angle, in which Tipton’s warm, soulful lyrics of intimacy and risk-taking flow over catchy guitar riffs and powerful horns. Notably lacking in the big room elements that led to KSHMR’s fame in the mainstream, this new piece signals not just a potential change in direction for the iconic artist, but it also displays his productive range.

R3HAB is back with another major collaboration — this time, featuring the singer/songwriter gone viral Lia Marie Johnson. After releases with A-listers KSHMR and Krewella over the past few months, the Amsterdam native is able to target another huge fan base (other than his own) with Johnson’s massive YouTube following.

“The Wave” features captivating lyrics that’ll take listeners right into beach season, with a slower tempo that centers in on major-scaling piano chords, up-beat synths and looped, interchanging vocal-motifs. Both talents have proved their aptitude in catchy production techniques, and have certainly wielded their abilities in full for this single.

KSHMR puts forth thunderous Sunburn Festival anthem, ‘Shiva’

This post was originally published on this site

KSHMR delivers a Sunburn Festival anthem for the third year in a row, following 2015’s “Bazaar” and 2016’s “Mandala,” with “Shiva,” a high powered release that calls on the talents of Marnik and The Golden Army.

Memorable for their prior work alongside KSHMR on the KSHMR/Golden Army remix of the Game of Thrones theme song, The Golden Army assist in the creation of a booming track well suited for the festival, Sunburn Festival’s 11th edition slated for December 28-31. “Shiva” sees KSHMR pay homage to his Indo-American roots in the song’s ethnic vocal overlay, the single’s fervent background beat not to be ignored as the psy-trance intro evolves to become a big room fueled number that evinces the collaborators’ inner track versatility.

KSHMR honors grandfather in his new single, ‘Underwater’ [STREAM]

This post was originally published on this site

Debuted early at Ultra Music Festival’s Mexico edition last weekend, KSHMR‘s latest single, a collaboration with Bollywood phenomenon Sonu Nigam, has officially debuted on the Indo-American DJ’s Dharma imprint. While the track, titled “Underwater,” is an expansion of the Dharma label, the single holds additional familial significance.

“Underwater has a really beautiful story to it,” KSHMR noted of the collab, “When my friend from India…met me in Amsterdam he asked me to find out my grandfather’s favorite singer. My grandfather’s answer was Sonu Nigam.” As fate would have it, KSHMR’s inquiring friend happened to know Nigam, and arranged a meeting for producer and vocalist. The duo discussed the idea of joining forces for a dance track, reconvening in August in Los Angeles, where the pair finished the song in a single day.

“This song is special, not only because it represents the start of my career as KSHMR,” KSHMR stated, “but it is also a gift to my grandfather who has been so instrumental in both my personal and musical journey.”

“Underwater” signals somewhat of a different aesthetic direction for KSHMR, known for his layering of traditional Indian melodies and stylistic flourishes into his music. KSHMR does not indulge this style of production on “Underwater”, moving instead towards a more progressive sound garnished with big room notes. And yet, the altered stylistic approach proves fruitful, leading KSHMR to produce yet another single of its own distinct sound.

The hardstyle drop mixed with vocals that sound eerily like Luciana’s is sure to be a hit. B3rror, a young Netherlands-based producer named Thomas Bard, has released a few tracks including “Gamazi” on Tribal Trap and a track called “Nostalgia” on Future House Records, along with a remix of KSHMR’s “Touch.”

KSHMR expands impenetrable bag of tricks on ‘Mezlas’ mash-up series featuring seven new tracks

This post was originally published on this site

KSHMR may be a California native, but if his own label Dharma Worldwide doesn’t already serve as some indication, his sweeping global influence certainly does. Rising as one of the most impenetrable forces in electronic dance music worldwide, KSHMR has consistently been releasing a steady slew of hits this summer, including his Materia EP via his self-managed imprint. Today the “Kolkata” producer is expanding his breadth by way of seven brand new culturally-oriented mash-ups, each of the new cuts paying homage to a particular Spanish-speaking country.

Mezclas, as the series is titled, includes seven mash-ups honoring Chile, Peru, Spain, Mexico, and Paraguay respectively. The tracks themselves are all mixes of either the country’s anthem or national pride songs under KSHMR’s production flair. Adding themselves to a seemingly endless and continuously expanding bag of tricks, Mezclas furthers KSHMR’s repertoire in a righteous fashion. Listen below

KSHMR stays winning.

After the mysterious artist rose to fame after his successes as a ghost producer, he’s now attained an impressive list of monster collaborations with artists like Tiesto to go with of an incredibly unique production style and his very own label premiere. With this in mind, it’s no surprise we’re hearing his name none stop.  KSHMR has been consistently setting himself apart through his persistence and through the regenerative resilience of his music.

Considering he just dropped his Materia EP one might expect the artist would take a break, but true to his character he’s not showing any signs of stopping soon. New music is likely just around the corner. In fact, the artist currently has 14 of his tracks in the Beatport top 100 list.

The only other artist that comes to mind having achieved this monumental success is deadmau5 — a peer that speaks for itself. Of course with the scene dripping in new tunes, it’s an accomplishment to even have a few tracks that make it to the list and stay — certainly this is an indication of KSHMR’s capabilities. It’s likely even more will top the list very soon.
