Kanye West released Jesus Is King in late October, and the gospel hip-hop artist continues exploring creative avenues to express his recent religious interests. The uniquely keen mind of Mr. West has dipped his toes in various facets of creation such as fashion, architecture, video documentaries, and now, he’s taking a turn at opera.
Via Twitter, the Chicago producer shared details that read “A KANYE WEST OPERA” engraved in gold above Nebuchadnezzar, the longest-reigning monarch of the Neo-Babylonian Empire. At the bottom of the image had more details such as the director of the performance, Vanessa Beecroft, as well as the location and time—the Hollywood Bowl on November 24. The music will come from Kanye’s Sunday Service choir, plus Peter Collins & Infinities Song.
Aside from his opera, Ye spent his Sunday at Joel Osteen’s Lakewood Church in Houston, bringing his Sunday Service to the infamous mega-church pastor and televangelist’s ceremony. Mr. West also brought his Billboard No.1 to Harris County Jail, where he performed a surprise service for inmates.
Kanye West released the highly anticipated Jesus Is King project on Oct. 25 and performed the track “Closed on Sunday” as a pre-recorded performance at the Oculus in Manhattan for Jimmy Kimmel Live! This was Ye’s second appearance in the late-night talk show, promoting the album on Oct. 24 as well, before the actual release.
West was accompanied by his Sunday Service choir, adding a live instrument spin encompassed by a beautiful open space to the produced track. The community feel and build take on a new era of Kanye, as the Chicago rapper continues his life journey through fatherhood and gospel-focused music.
The full-length project features collaborations from the likes of Ty Dolla $ign, Clipse, Kenny G, Timbaland, Pi’erre Bourne, CyHi the Prynce, Mike Dean, and many other talented songwriters and producers.
Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is back to dominating the headlines thanks to an all-encompassing, star-abundant collection of artists who will be performing at the 2019 iteration of the Indio, CA-based music festival. The next chapter of the legendary soiree has not met the media’s gaze without its fair share of controversy, mainly Kanye West dropping out of the lineup due to what he recently referred to as “artistically limiting” stage design.
On a brighter note, 2019 will be the first year fans will be able to live stream the festival for both weekend one and two. In previous years, fans were limited to the festival’s first weekend exclusively for streaming capabilities. Now fans across the world will be able to watch back-to-back weekends of acts including DJ Snake, Kayzo, Bassnectar, Ariana Grande, and more. The live streaming for Coachella 2019 commences the first weekend, April 12th-14th, rolling all the way through to the next, which spans April 19th-21st.

As Coachella lineup news continues to leak, TMZ reported and Consequence of Sound confirmed that Kanye West is pulling out of headlining the Indio, California festival due to a disagreement in stage setup. The squabble was appears to be over the 40-by-60-foot stage setup, which West reportedly called “artistically limiting.”
“It’s the same type of stage on which Shakespeare’s works were performed hundreds of years ago,” a source close to West told TMZ.
Information on what West proposed has not been released, however, it’s been documented that Ye is looking to create groundbreaking performances in the future, noting his Saint Pablo Tour stage floated above the crowd. The Kids See Ghosts debut at Camp Flog Gnaw had Kid Cudi and West floating above the stage in a rectangular, glass box, and that show was produced by Coachella organizers Goldenvoice.
Goldenvoice did not accommodate West’s request and the two entities mutually agreed to separate. Childish Gambino and Rihanna are rumored headliners, while Justin Timberlake was reported to have a headline spot but canceled shows in 2018 and 2019 due to bruised vocal chords.
Kanye West apologized to Drake in a lengthy string of tweets on September 5. The apology comes after months of ongoing friction between the rappers, including a rumored involvement in a series of Pusha T diss tracks which accused Drake of having a ghostwriter and more.
West began his series of tweets with the following and clears the air of his rumored involvement in feeding Pusha information about Drake’s son.
“Sending good energy and love to Drake and family and crew… I understand where the confusion started.” “Let me start by apologizing for stepping on your release date in the first place … We were building a bond and working on music together including squashing the issues with [Kid] Cudi at our office.”
West’s taking to Twitter comes just days after a viral conspiracy theory alleged Drake had an affair with Kim Kardashian (the supposed “Keke” of “In My Feelings.” Although Kardashian quickly denied the rumors, many of the issues between Drake and West posited in the theory are confirmed in West’s apology; including Drake telling West about his “secret” son, a surprise meant for Scorpion‘s “March 14” but first used as fodder in “The Story of Adidon,” with the assumption that West told Pusha-T.
“This is all Jedi level,” West wrote to Drake. “I will be coming to your show within the next seven days to give love and be inspired by the art you have created.”
Childish Gambino has unveiled an animated music video stuffed to the brim with celebrity cameos for his hazy crooner, “Feels Like Summer.” The track is one of two included in Gambino’s Summer Pack, a two track EP released in July. The “Feels Like Summer” video shows an animated Gambino strolling casually under a golden hour sky, subtly bopping to the song’s soft groove while top-tier celebrities and artists pop up around him. Encounters include Drake biking after Future, Beyonce wearing a “R.I.P Fredo Santana” shirt, and… Kanye crying in a MAGA hat, while being comforted by Michelle Obama.
Fans will have to wait for the artist’s anticipated fourth album to see if the smooth, dreamy feels of Summer Pack were a sign of sonic things to come. In the meantime, we’ll be busy soaking in these gorgeous Justin Richburg animated visuals and trying to catch all these cameos.
The new valuation of the streetwear brand corroborates Kim Kardashian‘s comment that Kanye was on the brink of billions during an earlier appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live in July 2018. “I would say my husband is one, so that makes me one, right?” Kardashian posited when asked whether the contents of her bank account put her over the millionaire threshold into billionaire status. “Close. Close, by proximity,” the reality TV personality added.
Kanye might not have a billion in his bank account, but the equity in his brand nonetheless puts the rapper right in line to obtain the financial status.
I am currently the single highest paid person in footwear. That means I make more money on shoes than Michael Jordan.
Tonight (June 28), Chance The Rapper is sitting down with Peter Rosenberg on the season finale of Complex‘s ‘Open Late.’ In the feature’s teaser trailer, released ahead of the interview, the first question Rosenberg asked Chance is, “do you have any timeline for the seven song Kanye album?” Since then, social media has all but confirmed the hype, with additional sources close to the situation seemingly corroborating the yet-to-be-confirmed news.
Although this is speculation as of now, the stars seem to be aligning. The two Chicago rap stalwarts have worked together before, trading verses on each other’s respective 2016 albums. First Chance delivered his legendary breakout verse on Kanye’s seminal “Ultralight Beam,” and shortly after the pair reunited with Kanye boosting Chano’s Coloring Book opener “All We Got.” Chance has also discussed working on a collaborative album, Good Ass Job, with Kanye on The Crewz Show. Mr. West is pumping out productions, hinting at another seven track album with CyHi The Prynce and telling Jon Caramanica of the New York Times he’s contemplating making 52 records in as many weeks. Among all of that, we may find the old and the new guard of Chicago’s rap ranks together once again, which would certainly cement West’s rap-packed summer as one of the most memorable in recent history.
Kanye West has certainly had a summer of GOOD Music, dropping five new albums with his label: Pusha T, his own, a joint Kid Cudi project, NAS, and finally, Teyana Taylor. Kanye’s summer isn’t all coming up roses though, with reports surfacing that claim Ye and TIDAL are getting hit with an $84 million lawsuit.
Back when Kanye released,The Life Of Pablo, he announced on Twitter that his album would be hosted exclusively on TIDAL, saying, “my album will never never never be on Apple.” This, of course, prompted users to sign up and subscribe to TIDAL, handing over personal information to sign up for the service. Today, the album is available on all platforms, thus, a fraud lawsuit was put forward, stating users were “fraudulently induced to subscribe to TIDAL and uniformly tricked into handing over their private data and credit card information by a singular mistruth.”
Judge Gregory Woods already handed Mr. West and the streaming platform a loss in the form of an 18-page decision. Judge Woods ultimately upheld the fraudulent inducement and unjust enrichment claims which means the case would have to be settled out of court or go to trial.
Tyler, the Creator‘s on a roll, having been sharing outtakes for the better part of the last year from his Flower Boy recording sesh, and sprees that have followed since, left and right, pretty much since his critically acclaimed album dropped. His latest is in coincidence with a month of G.O.O.D Music Fridays, as he’s shared a new version of Kanye West and Kid Cudi‘s recent Kids See Ghost album title track, dubbing the new version “CRUST IN THEIR EYES.”
Tyler took to Twitter to share how the track from his friend and colleague, Ye, came to be before sharing, revealing he made it in just one hour:
ye sent me that beat same night i also think his original verse on it is soooooooo fucking good i love his pocket on it and mighty mos sounds great on it ecstatic is a flawless album
With the same passionate and self-aware MO that listeners have come to associate with the rapper over the last few years, the former Odd Future proponent comes through as characteristically clever and collected on his “CRUST IN THEIR EYES,” remix, doing his peers’ work considerable justice — with less than an hour of his creative attention.
