#TBT: A look back at Whipped Cream and Hekler’s ‘Mirrors EP’Whipped Cream Music

Whipped Cream and Hekler released a collaborative EP, Mirrors, last summer off Spirited. We’re revisiting and unearthing this collection of bass gold, now that the genre is diverging at various BPMs.

Teaming up with Hekler, her Mirrors EP was a bit faster paced than what Whipped Cream normally produces, but those gritty bass hits and high-end wobbles are still intact. Leaning more toward trap, the project came with a NEST HQ premiere on the single, “ITCHY HANDS.”

Whipped Cream is a Canadian DJ/producer whose released various times off Skrillex‘s Nest HQ imprint, including her 3-track project, PERSISTENCE. She was making some of that slowed down 90 BPM bass drippiness.

Hekler recently released a remix pack on Never Say Die records from his collaboration with Gladez, “404.” He’s also done official remixes for the likes of Boombox Cartel.

Ekali teams up with TYNAN and Hekler for new bass-trap fusion, ‘Blood Moon’Ekali Press

There is no denying Canadian producer Ekali has had a big few years with a sold-out headlining tour and hit collaborations with the likes of ZHU. The producer is back with new music in the form of OWSLA release “Blood Moon,” a collaboration with TYNAN and Hekler.

The track is a cutting bass-trap fusion with commanding drops that will undoubtedly be featured in future festival and club performances. Ekali commented on his Twitter that he considers co-producers TYNAN and Hekler to be some of the most talented up-and-coming bass producers in the scene, and “Blood Moon” certainly speaks to that. Fans who like the song can download it for free via SoundCloud.

The LA-based electronic events giant has announced the official lineup for their sixth annual Red Rocks event slated this year for August 2 featuring a headlining performances by DJ Snake, Virtual Self, Mija, GG Magree, and Hekler. HARD generally offers their Red Rocks lineup as a primer ahead of their flagship summer event billing, usually around the time of Coachella. If this year’s Red Rocks talent roster is any indication, expect HARD to deliver another top-notch lineup later this month.

Roping together a well-rounded bill of exciting electronic talents, HARD comes through with a characteristically bold lineup ahead of their return to Morrison, Colorado. With Porter Robinson returning to HARD Red Rocks and longtime friends of the brand in DJ Snake and Mija topping the bill, expect this year’s event to exceed the hype.
