Calvin Harris, Zedd, Tiësto & more: Don’t miss the full Hakkasan Group Memorial Day Weekend recap

This post was originally published on this site

It’s certainly no secret that the Las Vegas-based Hakkasan Group is the crowned owner of esteemed nightlife destinations. 2018’s Memorial Day was no exception, with fervorous performances from fellow 2020 residency holders Calvin Harris and Tiësto, to hip-hop heavyweights all the way down the strip. Hakksan brought their A-game and this year DA‘s here to wrap up the highlights, so you don’t miss a beat, and maybe next year might even manage to catch it in person.

The Caesars Palace nightclub kicked off its electrifying three-day weekend celebration with none other than the king of the strip, Mr. Residency 2020, Calvin Harris.  Harris, fresh off his tune of the summer, “One Kiss,” played all of his chart-topping hits for a sold-out crowd. Following the firey Harris deliverance Friday night, Fellow Grammy Award-winning Zedd kept the party going Saturday night with an equally exuberant performance that kept guests dancing until the early hours of the morning. Unfortunately, the revelries had to come to a close Sunday evening, but who better to do the honors, than the unparalleled hitmaker himself, Martin Garrix.

Hakkasan Nightclub, inside the esteemed MGM Grand Hotel & Casino, treated partygoers to an exclusive four-night affair, kicking off Thursday, May 24 with a Memorial Day Weekend edition of Lil Jon’s “About Last Night” party. One can imagine just how the shots were flowing as the “Turn Down for What” hitmaker took over the turntables, making for an unforgettable night at the jam-packed venue. Friday evening, Tiësto played for a sold-out crowd, even bringing out the lead singer of Imagine Dragons, Dan Reynolds. The long-weekend festivities continued Saturday, with Steve Aoki, who brought the noise with a sick celebrity entourage made-up of singer Akon and Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker. The nighttime hot spot welcomed back resident Calvin Harris Sunday, May 27, as the legendary artist treated partygoers to an expectedly exhilarating set.

JEWEL Nightclub

Located inside the ARIA Resort & Casino, JEWEL nightclub pulled out all the stops this Memorial Day Weekend as the premier venue was also celebrating its two-year anniversary. Clubgoers flocked to the nightspot as hip-hop artist Playboi Carti, fresh off his new LP Die Lit, andgave an unbelievable live performance as part of “The Good Life Fridays” on May 25. The celebratory weekend continued with a live performance by Lil Uzi Vert the following night, as resident DJ Steve Aoki closed out the commemorative weekend May 28 for the “Flawless Mondays” anniversary event. Aoki had plenty of the usual (unusual) surprises in store for his guests, as he brought out Desiigner to perform his breakout hit “Panda” in the middle of his unparalleled set. Additionally, because why not, Lil Jon made a guest appearance where he jumped atop the DJ booth and pumped up the partygoers, making for an absolutely unbelievable night.

Hakkasan Group extends Calvin Harris’ residency into 2020

Calvin Harris

Calvin Harris topped Forbes‘ list of the highest paid DJs for the fifth consecutive year in 2017, but as 2018 begins to unfold, it seems that a sixth year at the number one spot on the list is likely as Harris rakes in a hefty sum for the renewal of his Las Vegas residency with Hakkasan Group.

Determined not to see Harris “Slide” out of the entertainment capital, the luxury nightlife brand has extended Harris’ Omnia Nightclub residency through 2020, an elongation that arrives at the price of £200 million (approximately $280 million USD). The figure breaks down to a pay out of a little more than £1 million each night that Harris performs at the world famous nightclub.

Harris fans traveling to the Strip can get exactly what they “came for” given the producer’s extended residency, and can purchase tickets to Harris’ upcoming shows, here.

Hakkasan Group extends Tiesto’s Vegas residency into 2020

The saying “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas” can be interpreted with a new meaning as the Hakkasan Group extends Tiesto’s residency at Hakkasan Nightclub and Wet Republic, ensuring that Tiesto will ‘stay’ in the entertainment capital from now until 2020.

CEO of Hakkasan Group Nick McCabe lauds Tiesto in his recent statement regarding the residency’s continuation. “Since our Hakkasan partnership began in 2013, Tiesto has been an artist who delivers an amazing experience for our guests time and time again. We are thrilled to continue this relationship and are excited to kick off his return with a weekend-long birthday celebration, and have several surprises in store for him to enjoy alongside his fans.”

The feeling is mutual for Tiesto, who notes that “Vegas has come to feel like home.” Tiesto’s 2018 run of Hakkasan supported performances will begin on January 11. Those looking to transition into the new year to the tunes of Tiesto can purchase tickets to the shows here.

Kristian Nairn discusses Rave of Thrones, career success ahead of Hakkasan Halloweekend performance

This post was originally published on this site

Kristian Nairn’s beloved alter ego Hodor might have met his untimely demise in the Game of Thrones, however, his character’s spirit lives on in eternity through the means of electronica.

Before becoming a Game of Thrones staple, the Irish talent had always possessed a deep skill and connection with music — primarily, that of the dance music variety. He cut his teeth in his local scene, building his reputation as a DJ, and eventually a producer, through an eleven year residency at the famed Irish club Kremlin. He then capitalized on his newfound celebrity as Hodor to further his path as a musician, launching his Rave of Thrones parties and creating something of a brand for himself that has since risen to high acclaim within the electronic sphere.

The icon possesses a unique talent to fuse popular sounds into more driving sets, drawing upon his prior DJing expertise and current fervor to please his fanbase to ensure his performances are highly danceable, well-curated, and energetic. Virility for Rave of Thrones didn’t take long after Nairn re-kindled his path into musicianhood, leading him to land gigs alongside some of EDM’s top talent as well as slots at prolific clubs of today, such as Ommia and other legendary Hakkasan Group venues. continues to bring his work to new heights, releasing a variety of original records and remixes as well as creating his newest podcast series, Spektrum.

Ahead of his Halloween booking at Hakkasan in Las Vegas (tickets here), where he’ll be opening for Steve Aoki, we sat down with Nairn to discuss his deep-rooted passion for music, playing in the electronic big leagues, and more.

How does to feel to perform at a prestigious venue like HK and to open for someone as eminent as Steve Aoki? Have you prepared any special or exclusive content especially for the show?

It’s incredibly humbling. I still can’t quite believe that I get to do these things. I will say though that i have worked EXTREMELY hard to get here for approaching 20 years now, so i do feel that I am ready. Actually yes there will be some exclusive content in there from myself and some other artists. I’m always trying to raise my game as an artist.

What was the inspiration behind the ‘Rave of Thrones? Do you prepare any GoT specific remixes and bootlegs for such shows? How well has it been received by fans of the show and has it helped further your career as a DJ? Do you personally prefer performing at GoT themed parties or regular live sets where you can play traditional EDM to your liking?

The truth is, the music I play at the shows is very similar. At at rave of Thrones show, it’s more about theming the venue and the crowd getting into character. I did a bootleg mashup of the track which I still sometimes play to this day. It’s such a beautiful piece of music, I don’t think it’s fully translatable, or at least, I haven’t heard a version like that yet. No doubt GoT was a huge platform for me to get my name out there, and be recognised for the other things I can do too.

You recently announced the launch of your new monthly podcast, Spektrum. What were the reasons behind doing so, what kind of music do you plan on promoting? What is your ultimate vision/aim with Spektrum?

I think it’s important for ANY DJ and artist to keep involved with the people that support them and constantly be putting out fresh material. Truth be told , I’m fortunate to be an extremely busy person, and with a standalone mix, it’s easy to push it aside and forget … but with a monthly deadline for a show, it becomes much easier to maintain and be consistent. That’s the plan anyway, haha!

We understand that you were a drag artist at the Kremlin in Belfast during your early years as a DJ. Could you elaborate what the entire experience was like, whether or not you enjoyed it, and how different were those days were as compared to your current performances?

It was a vehicle to me. Drag is a sacred art form, and it taught me a lot about myself and my “performance persona”. After a few very fun and interesting years I decided to leave it behind. I think there are differences and similarities although it’s hard to quantify. I will say that when I’m standing backstage waiting for my intro, I still get the same feeling and excitement!

Your SoundCloud profile has a stronger emphasis on mixes as compared singles and original music, any particular reason behind the same? Can we look forward to more frequent original mixes from you?

That’s been a time issue really. Also I have a lot more material I haven’t released to the world yet. That’s all ahead. You can be ready to see much more original stuff on there soon.

Were you able to squeeze in a few shows even when you were starring in Game of Thrones? Would you rather remain a DJ/ producer or would you prefer becoming a full time actor?

I never ever stopped. Unless it was a night shoot, I held down my residency and hardly missed a single set. I do NOT know how i did that, looking back, and the answer to that is a resounding “neither”. I can certainly do more than just one thing professionally. Sometimes more of ones than the other, but that’s how it goes. I’ve never done well putting myself in a box, so I won’t start now.

Which actor on the GoT has the best taste in music, and the worst?

Actually Isaac Hempstead Wright is an accomplished pianist and has great taste… although we strongly disagree on some artists, ha! The worst, I wouldn’t like to say! I think most of the cast are fairly clued in musically.

What are Kristian Nairn’s long and short term future plans as a DJ and producer?

Progression. Always progression and the keep moving in a positive direction.

Hakkasan and OMNIA announce ‘monstrous’ line-up for Halloween weekend in Vegas

This post was originally published on this site

Las Vegas can very well be called the USA’s Ibiza, as it consistently brings in the world’s best talent no matter the time of year. However, unlike the rave White Island, the city continues to party all year round with A-list DJs literally flocking in and out of there on a daily basis. The Hakkasan Group have proven themselves as worthy gatekeepers to Las Vegas’ inimitable nightlife time after time with impressive lineups. With a massive, festival-esque benefit show slated for November at OMNIA, Hakkasan has also just announced their extensive line-up for Halloween weekend.

OMNIA will put on its third and final installment of the “Phantom of the Opera” themed trilogy that’s seen massive success over the past two years, featuring performances by Calvin Harris, Zedd, Kaskade and more. If that’s not thrilling enough for the audience, Hakkasan will invite attendees to step “Beyond the Wall” with its second chapter of the medieval themed party, featuring sets by Steve Aoki, Lil Jon, Above & Beyond, and even some tech-house vibes from Hodor himself, Kristian Nairn.
