Feel-good gurus, The Knocks and vocal gymnast, Gallant recently united for what can assuredly be described as a suave, self-indulgent record that plays to both parties’ strong suits. “Exit Sign” sources its refined vocals from the R&B artist, whose involvement with the single precedes the arrival of his sophomore album, Sweet Insomnia, due on October 25. The “Weight In Gold” singer is no stranger to the electronic ether either, raking in collaborations with the likes of ZHU, Big Wild, and more. The Knocks, meanwhile, have been riding the wave of their tenures writing score for the likes of The US Open and iPhone X—to name a few.

Distinctly danceable, “Exit Sign” is both light and mellow in its makeup. The mid-tempo tune is well within The Knocks’ nu-disco wheelhouse, and follows the production pair’s previous, Whethan-assisted “Summer Luv.”

Listen to SebastiAn’s first new release in eight years, Gallant-assisted ‘Run For Me,’ ahead of forthcoming albumSebastian Press Shot

It’s been eight years since French electronic music producer SebastiAn has released original music under his production alias, but the wait for more music is finally over with new Gallant collaboration “Run For Me.” In addition to the release of this soulful new single, the venerated Ed Banger legend has announced he will be releasing a full-length album this fall. The album will be his second, following his 2011 hit compilation Total, and “Run For Me” is the first taste of what is to come from the forthcoming LP.

“Run For Me” shows once again that SebastiAn is undoubtedly a master in the art of suspense with his ability to juggle a balancing act from the intimate to the epic, which can be felt in the triumphant release. American R&B singer Gallant infuses sultry vocals that weave in and out of the cinematic production backdrop, making for an enamoring listen.

“We made it in one day, in one take without stopping. The melody evolved wherever it seemed to want to go all by itself. I tracked Gallant down for the vocals because he shared the same power and logic that the song aimed to have and I wasn’t disappointed. The song really came into its own when the vocals were laid down on the track,” notes SebastiAn.

While this is the first original work fans have heard from SebastiAn under his production moniker, the artist recently began a long-lasting collaboration with world-renowned fashion house Saint Laurent and luxury label’s creative director Anthony Vaccarello, producing for most of their catwalk shows among other projects. SebastiAn has released a music video alongside the debut single from his forthcoming album, which adds a visual flair to the compelling release.

Gallant taps Sufjan Stevens for ‘TOOGOODTOBETRUE’

Gallant taps Sufjan Stevens for ‘TOOGOODTOBETRUE’0 5

Gallant‘s vocals are here to bless us all year long. The D.C. native has unleashed his newest single titled “TOOGOODTOBETRUE,” featuring Sufjan Stevens and Rebecca Sugar.

The four-minute track sees both artists flexing their harmonies and serenading that special someone. A tender guitar backs the artists’ lush introduction, leading into a smooth, subtle beat. On the hook, Gallant sings, “I’ll lay down the cards just like the way you fold your arms / Too good to be true,” before Stevens gifts fans with his own verse.

Following his last single “Doesn’t Matter” released in May of this year, “TOOGOODTOBETRUE” serves as the second single off Gallant’s sophomore album titled This Song Does Not Fit. The record also features Sugar — the creator of Steven Universe on the Cartoon Network — on the outro.

Dexter’s Beat Laboratory Vol. 35

This post was originally published on this site

Dexter’s Beat Laboratory is a weekly collection of songs from DA music editor and staff writer Robyn Dexter. With a taste that can only be described as eclectic — to say nothing of a name that lends itself to punnery — DA is happy to present a selection of tracks personally curated by Dexter for your listening pleasure.

One of the most recent releases out of the Hospital Records camp is Logistics‘ seventh studio album, Hologram. Its third track, “Broken Light” with award-winning singer/songwriter Thomas Oliver, is a soulful and simple drum & bass tune. Combined, Oliver’s captivating vocals and an emotive piano melody give off a slightly melancholy vibe. When brought together with the drum & bass pattern, these three elements make for a stunner of a song.

In his first release since “Tell Me Your Secrets,” DEMUR packs a powerful punch. “Open Your Eyes” is a striking bass house number that sets a dark atmosphere from its first few chords. Dramatic, hard-hitting bass strikes almost immediately, pounding a haunting cacophony into the listener’s ears.

Gallant makes an impressive return with a new original, “Gentleman.” The soulful slow jam brings the heat with a smooth, sexy vibe, showcasing the artist’s silky falsetto. It’s been months since we’ve seen new material from Gallant — and it was worth the wait for this effortlessly provocative tune.

It’s Alison Wonderland album release day! The 14-track Awake is out now, featuring an exceptional collection of originals and collaborations. Additionally, she released a set of remixes for “Church,” which came out in February. One such remix was from fellow Australian Naderi, who has amplified the track’s future bass elements with chopped vocals and bouncing synths.

Following March’s “Raver,” UK drum & bass mastermind Dimension returns with a new thrilling ride. Unlike its name, “Techno” is straight drum & bass fire, adding to the intensity with excitement-building counting in both English and French. Powerful spoken word ignites the middle portion of “Techno” and carries the momentum through the remainder of the track. “I will not be regretting any of my decisions – I stand by everything I say. I will stand in truth, I will be whatever I want to be. You can try to put me in a cage, but I will break out with my rage. Because everything is just energy, and I cannot die.”
