Faux Tales‘ latest body of work is a beautiful sight to behold and absorb. Titled Hiraeth, the LP has been in the works for nearly two years. Its nine tracks allow the listener to transcend time and space, taking them on a cinematic, journey-like sonic venture. Faux Tales has a story to tell, and the album takes the listener through the chapters with thought-provoking tracks like “Home.”

Speaking of journeys, Murtagh transforms Dezza‘s “Apollo” in his newest piece of work. Dezza crafted an ethereal original track, full of builds and outer space-inspired dreamy synths. Dezza’s was fully otherworldly, abstaining from a beat or drop, but Irish producer Murtagh seizes his opportunity to introduce them. A steady, unobtrusive beat leads the listener through the song, giving it a bit of a mysterious and almost gloomy feel.

Grum starts his new single, “Tomorrow,” on a bold note, leading with bright, colorful synths and ushering in a deep-pounding bass. Wavy synths announce the entrance of emotive vocals, offsetting the tune’s darker feel with the distinctive singer’s voice. After the middle of the song, the flashy synths are reintroduced, lifting the listener back up before plunging them back into the shadowy, bass-filled instrumentals.

Inukshuk and Trove grab hold of the heartstrings and don’t let go on their new collaboration, “Pull Me In.” The joint effort is delicate and beautiful in both its vocal elements and in its instrumentals. Both aspects of the song manage to dig deep into the listener’s emotions and cradle the parts that are vulnerable and raw. It’s a gorgeous piece of work.

Fox Stevenson fans have been waiting for years upon years for the producer’s debut LP, and it’s finally arrived as of Oct. 18. The majority of the songs have been released as singles over time, but a fewlike “Use Me”arrived with the release of the album. The tune is a fun and creative amalgamation of the artist’s modern sound: pop-leaning with impeccable production and his own endearing vocals.

It’s most important day of the week: New Music Friday. With the overwhelming amount of tunes hitting the airwaves today, Dancing Astronaut has you covered with the latest edition of The Hot 25.

Valentino Khan tackles Tchami’s “Rainforest” in his latest remix, and Gryffin teams up with Maia Wright for “Body Back.” Lost Kings tap Marc E. Bassy for “Somebody Out There,” and Adventure Club unveil their Death or Glory Sessions. David Guetta remixes Idris Elba’s “On Life” as Jack Back, and Sullivan King reveals his debut album, including tracks like “If My Eyes Are Vampires (Your Body Is My Sunlight)” with TYNAN. Fox Stevenson, too, has a debut album out on Oct. 18, featuring songs like “All Night,” and Hardwell teams up with Deorro, MAKJ, and Fatman Scoop for “Left Right.” Henry Fong encourages listeners to “Jump Up” with his new single, and Flosstradamus and Megatone deliver “Bounce Back” after premiering the track with DA. Faux Tales has released his ethereal Hiraeth LP, and Madnap and Luma have collaborated on “Faces.” YehMe2 and Wuki “Throw It” on their new collaboration, and vowl. and Brock Wilson jointly release “recluse.” Justin Jay puts his own spin on NGHTMRE and A$AP Ferg’s “REDLIGHT,” and Boombox Cartel and Griff Clawson reveal “All I Want.”

As each week brings a succession of new music from some of electronic music’s biggest artists, here’s a selection of tracks that shouldn’t be missed this NMF.

Talented Monstercat standout Richard Caddock has reimagined himself as an artist with the debut of a new moniker, Keepsake. His first release, “This Time Around” featuring Slyleaf, is a lighthearted, bouncing track that’s highlighted by a merry melody and spirited vocals from himself and Slyleaf. Its carefree atmosphere is reminiscent of old-school Owl City tracks and marks his first release on the label since 2016.


Continuing on the multi-week of loving and promoting the forthcoming Destinations, Vol. 1 EP, Vorso delivers “Crisis.” This intense, four-minute ball of energy is marks the fourth release on the five-track EP. It’s a drum & bass slice of heaven, smashing and exceeding expectations with its forceful, bass-heavy tendencies.


In mid-August, Faux Tales tapped vocalist Ingrid Lukas for an alluring cinematic experience he calls “Rise Now.” Lukas’ voice captivates immediately, drawing the listener in with her wistful singing. Faux Tales backs up her vocals with astoundingly stellar production, crafting a mesmerizing soundscape of dramatic interludes and delicate piano melodies.


Friction‘s “Running” featuring Raphaella may have come out last October, but I’ll confess: I didn’t discover it until the release of the UK drum & bass maestro’s debut album on Sept. 7. All of Connections is beautifully constructed, highlighted by entrancing standouts like this one. Connections has been four years in the making, and it’s well worth the wait.


In an interesting turn of events leading up to their album release, The Midnight have unveiled an instrumental track called “Arcade Dreams.” Kids‘ other releases so far have been vocal-centric, but “Arcade Dreams” doesn’t need vocals to stand out. It’s beautiful as it is. Twinkling synths rise and fall in a dreamy pattern, invoking waves of nostalgia that wash over the listener from start to finish.

Dutch drum & bass beasts T & Sugah just unleashed a new EP on Liquicity Records called Say My Name. The two-track release features a pair of fast-paced heaters that thrill as their first release since last summer’s “Walk Her Way” and “Demons.” The duo have developed tunes that are the perfect blend of emotive and action-packed. This one, in particular, taps the beautiful vocals of Luna Morgenstern to accentuate the heartfelt atmosphere the duo has created.


Swedish producer F.O.O.L returns with his first release since 2016, “Highway.” The track is packed with cinematic-feeling synthwave production, highlighted by soaring melodies and eerie undertones. It’s rife with the same larger-than-life atmosphere of the killer Astronaut and Far Too Loud remix he did with Didrick years ago. Though its overall vibe is more subdued, it’s a brilliant comeback. With the release of the song, the producer revealed that there’s more to come, including an EP. Excited? Yes, I am.


Hopping back into some higher-BPM tunes with the latest from Sekai and Aleana Redd. This liquid drum & bass piece is simultaneously relaxing and spirited, accented by subtle background horns and gorgeous vocals from Redd. “Rain” is part of Sekai’s Canvas EP, out now on Lacuna Records. As the only drum & bass offering in the four-track collection, it’s an absolute stunner.


Italian producer Lozz has created a swagger-filled house party in his joint Gold Digger and Noir sur Blanc release. “Beast Mode” is a rousing number, emphasized by a hefty bassline and intense chopped-up vocals. With squeaky-clean production and a spirited beat, Lozz’s latest is guaranteed to get even the most stubborn onto the dance floor.


Swiss artist Faux Tales was quiet for the first half of 2018, leading me to wonder what he’s been cooking up. Yet in the past month, he’s dropped an official remix for Pink, along with this thrilling Arcadium release, “Origins.” Faux Tales spends the first portion of the song on a gorgeous piano ballad that steadily builds into something more foreboding. A dark-sounding choir and rapid string melody lead the listener into an epic chillstep section of the track. The producer has created something both beautiful and threatening in “Origins.”
