At the start of the SoundCloud’s future bass explosion, Moving Castle was putting forth some of the most intriguing takes on electronic music seen since the EDM explosion that preceded them. Created by Robokid, Manila Killa, and AOBeats, the three acts and their fellow producers built a name for themselves and have been working together for more than four years now. Starting out 2019 with a strong joint effort, the three producers have united for Robokid’s new track, “17.”

Featuring pitched-down vocals and an infectious swing, the track is a follow-up to “Survive,” Robokid’s late 2018 collab with Hotel Garuda. Confirming on Twitter that his next track was finished as well, fans can hopefully expect a year full of music from Robokid in 2019.

Each week, New Music Friday sweeps through with torrential force, showering streaming platforms with immeasurable amounts of new tunes. Just like Dancing Astronaut rounds up 25 of the biggest songs of the week for the Hot 25 Spotify playlist each New Music Friday, Lunar Lunes serves as a landing pad for SoundCloud users who want a whole new dose of tunes to kick off the work week.

As 2019 enters its second week, music releases have started to ramp back up. Whethan burst into the new year with the formidable “GOING UP,” and No Mana delivered the ethereal “Tell Me Most” in the new mau5trap We Are Friends compilation. The Knocks cooked up a funky remix of Joe Janiak’s “The Best You Ever Had,” and Robokid teamed up with longtime collaborators AOBeats and Manila Killa for “17.” Monstercat dove into 2019 by cranking up the BPMs, following Stonebank‘s hardcore “The Government” with Feint‘s gorgeous drum & bass original, “Drifters.” Chrome Sparks released a new album on the first of the year, highlighting songs like “Be On Fire” on his SoundCloud. Brock Wilson leads off the 2019 Mad Zoo releases with “hollow shell,” and Adventure Club put a melodic dubstep spin on AOSOON’s “Under.”

The selection is updated every Lunes (Monday).

Mark Johns and AObeats release a fuzzy R&B-inspired track, “Like That.”  The two producer friends bring out the warm feels with casual keys, lazy claps, and graceful vocals, as the new tune flows with Johns’ melodically rhythmic nature.

The two have collaborated before, on the groovy “Peanut Butter” with Robokid earlier this year. Minimalistic in arrangement, the pair’s latest, proves that the two artists don’t need much to produce a high-quality product. AObeats proctors easy-going melodies, walking bass line, spaced out drum sets, and environmental flares as the backdrop to Johns’ contribution. Mark Johns has been a championed up-and-comer on Skrillex‘s OWSLA label, though she’s always kept a close affiliation to Manilla Killa, AOBeats, and Robokid’s Moving Castle imprint.

Paramount Pictures taps Moving Castle to remix the ‘Mission: Impossible’ theme songMoving Castle Mission Impossible

In the wake of Mission: Impossible Fallout, the sixth rendition in the series, Moving Castle founders Manila Killa, AOBeats, and Robokid were enlisted by Paramount Pictures to remix the classic theme song. Taking the original melody, the label bosses added trap drums, cinematic ambiance, and glitchy breaks between a gritty sub-bass of the signature MI melody. The percussion heavy remake embodies the slick is a cool, slick, modern vibe — kind of like the never-aging Tom Cruise.

Moving Castle was one remix out of 10 signed by Paramount Pictures on their Spotify remix pack to support the film. Other remixers were Cloudchord, Sweater Beats, and other producers within the film-making industry.

AObeats has produced an infectious new single, “Strangers.” Released on his Moving Castle imprint, the smooth moving piece features a fusion of Annabel Jones‘ impeccable vocals and faint melodic chord progressions, all layered on top of prominent, plucky segments of bass. The cheeky, yet relatable lyrics of “Strangers” reminisce about a love lost, telling a story about two friends who are now complete strangers.

Annabel Jones sheds light to the meaning behind the lyrics,

“Working with AO on “Strangers” was fun and the writing experience was very cathartic. The lyrics touch on the breakdown of a friendship and the idea of being “frenemies.” I guess the song is a bit of a f* you. AO and I worked super closely on this one and it’s great to be making music together again!”

Hailing from Massachusetts, AObeats is widely known for his charismatic remixes and creative originals that showcase his artistry which is categorized by innovative, lively melodies and pronounced, alluring undertones. With his latest production, “Strangers,” the producer shows no sign of slowing down his streak of unforgettable releases.

AObeats cues his following into what’s on his horizon, stating, “I’ve been holding on to a lot of music for the past year and this is just the first of many songs to come.”
