Adriatique – Ray [EP Review]

Adriatique

Ray is an embodiment of Adriatique‘s aural personality across two tracks. The first, “Voices Of The Dawn,” takes conjures gloomy imagery as cunningly-arranged analog synth progressions bounce around the ears. Tribal-inspired drum patterns accent these melodies in an oddly satisfying way, topped off by strategically-placed roars and growls that add to the overall darkness from the finished product.

The EP’s namesake production moves Ray into the light — as its name suggests. Even more melodic than “Voices Of The Dawn,” “Ray” captures a pleasant sentimentality that feels sunny while listening. Warm chords in harmony with one another create a calm atmosphere. That said, on the dancefloor it will surely cause collective hand-raising.
